The great thing about this one is that they get new furniture in on saturday mornings and sometimes you can pick something nifty up. Non brand name clothes and ones they have overlooked are still kind of affordable but it's not unusual for nice dresses to carry price tags over $15. They have some pretty cool and fashionable retro stuff occasionally and a really good selection of shoes and bags. Lots of menswear too and a good assortment of bric a brac. I like that they often have half decent crockery and I nabbed a set of eight plain white plates with matching bowls at a tiny price. Some of the clothes frequently still have their tags attached, they are a bit pricier but if you're not into the retro look this may also be a good op shop for you.

The Red Cross 'Two 8 Four' store is situated in the heart of Adelaide's Rundle fashion strip, amongst high-end fashion labels and cafes. Taking a unique approach to charity and fashion, this store has scouted a prime location to boost sales and interest. New on the scene, this shop is filled with vintage treasures scouted from thrift stores for charity. They have dresses, skirts, pants, shorts, jackets, men's clothing, shoes, hats, gloves, books, glasses, jewelry, and knick-knacks to please a vintage treasure hunter. Even if you aren't a general op-shopping fan, this place is worth a look. I liked this shop because it wasn't too big but there was a great range of items. Not heaps of trash like you find at some thrift stores. The shop was split into three rooms. The first room was full of random items; figurines, toys, old-school glasses (which make great cocktail glasses), a TV and other things. The second room there are heaps of books. I like buying books second hand because they are always ridiculously cheap and once you read something you rarely look at it again. They are also genuinely in good condition- well good enough condition to read. There was also random electronic equipment in here- such as a printer. I don't know about this, I have never heard of buying a printer from an op-shop! The last room was of course clothes. Purchasing clothes from an op-shop always involved a bit of a hunt. You are never guaranteed to walk into somewhere and find something amazing, but if you persevere you will find the goods! There was a quite good range in this shop- it was all clean and nothing was too tacky. I was also delighted to find a dress-up box, good clothes!

The shoes were quite good quality and in reasonable condition, as in some op shops they shouldn't even be there because they've had it. The clothes racks were also in reasonable conditions. Lots of trinkets, bric a brac and only a few pieces of jewellery in their display case. I noticed two grey berber cone shaped lamp shades, on the very top shelf above the clothes rack below, but didn't want to bother them to take it down to have a closer look. Besides, if they were any good I didn't have any bases to put them on. Proceeds of sales goes to a Save The Children fund which has been operating for over 90 years.

The building was originally built for the post office, telegraph office(what's that you may ask if you are the 'y' gen and after), and private residence for caretaker. The community Centre runs a lot of programmes like weekly walks, Mah jongs and it even organizes talks on various topics for the public. Costs of these activities range from free to very minimal costs. During 'history festival ' there's a great display of local history and old plans of the building, celebration of the 100 years centinerary photos etc The great hall provided space for activities and with the back room and kitchen can be hired for functions. The hall provides space for art exhibition and also participates as SALA venue. The community garden is at the back of the building. Judging from the produce in the 'tubs', there must be quite an active group of dedicated 'gardeners' involved. There are computers for public use as long as you have a library card and best of all, free wifi!

The community centre is the focal point where a lot of locals drop in and have a cuppa or a chat, a great meeting place. It has a co-ordinator who manages the centre and volunteers assist in other tasks. There are heaps of activities organised during the day or privately run activities for some evenings. There's a ballroom dancing group, yoga, ethnic group gatherings for shared lunch, talks, workshops and many others. There are gardening equipment as well as tools to borrow and the cargo bike! A way of transport if you have heaps of shopping and / or heavy items to transport between A and B. I was told that it's not that easy to ride, practice makes perfect. The centre can be hired out for private functions after hours. There's a cute 'parking lot' out front whereby you can sit and read a book on a sunny day or simply sit and chat with neighbours. The city library has left the books return bin out there too so that local residents don't have to hike all the way up to Rundle Mall, same for picking up library items. There are books for exchange and toys for the little ones to play. Computers can be accessed if you have your library card to log on. Free wifi of course! The wall space normally has art exhibitions and the monthly gathering of locals for a shared evening meal is a great social activity.
