I unfortunately agree with many other reviewers about this store. The items are often trashy and not really sale worthy and priced WAY too high. I really don't understand how they can justify pricing often very used and even dirty items at the same price as retail stores/amazon?!? I used to go here from time to time, but it just got to be ridiculous price wise. I have also stopped donating items here, as I hate to see them overpriced when selling to people on limited incomes who often frequent this store. If you're up north, I very much recommend going to Hillcrest in Parkville over Savers. We Got "Snubbed"... at a Thrift Shop! Jennifer Lopez. Mason Rudolph. Both recently made headlines for being rudely dismissed at high-end retailers CHANEL & Louis Vuitton -- no appointment, wrong outfit, not "their kind of customer." Price tag of lost sales? Tens of thousands. This week... add me and my daughter to the list. Location: Savers | Value Village Thrift. Attire: Tank tops & shorts. Goal: Donate ~$400 worth of clothes, shoes & home goods... then have a fun mom-daughter hunt for a couple of nostalgic tees. Instead: * Staff strongly confronted us as my shy teen daughter attempted to try on a $3.99 T-shirt. * Tone and body language said "you don't belong here" -- in a thrift store. * We were treated more like suspects than customers. * We weren't bothering anyone and had no bags with us. We were laughing and smiling until being approached and they just wouldn't let it go! Lost sale: $3.99. Real loss: A customer -- and donor -- for life. The absurd part? We were there for the moment -- the laughs, giggles, and just getting some quality time with my daughter. Instead, I left super pissed off with my daughter nearly in tears -- the stupidity of it slays me. For every brand, here's the takeaway: * Your frontline is your brand. * People don't remember the transaction -- they remember how you made them feel. * Respect costs $0.00... but its ROI is priceless. If I could give this place negative stars, I would. Absolutely the worst thrift store I've ever been to. It used to be okay but you would not believe the prices at this place. It's criminal! I saw MULTIPLE items priced at SIX HUNDRED AMERICAN DOLLARS. It's a thrift store!!! I fully believe they should just close this store. The people that price things are idiots who couldn't pour water out of a boot with instructions on the heel. Savers was my favorite thrift store by far. Great selection, friendly staff, and clean. Now the prices compare to Amazon and Walmart where the items are new. Today my wife picked up a pair of shoes marked $22 that had holes all the way through the bottom. I saw a used PS3 for $150, that sell refurbished with warranty from Gamestop for $99. I constantly see items price higher than retail. read more

While this used to be an amazing location their prices have increased so much!!!! I love shopping and used to go 5 times a week but I barely go 1 time a week now. The prices are a huge turn off for me. I can pay the same for brand new items on sale or purchase items online. Also they have one worker by the name of Chris that has the WORST customer service skills. He is rude!!! Being rude to customers is unacceptable but being rude to very loyal customers just lost a customer. I will go to the one in Liberty which is a bit out of the way but their prices are better and they appreciate my business. read more

People need to know that Savers is a for profit thrift store. They take in donated goods and pay their charities a small amount based on the weight of goods taken in. Charities see less than 10 percent of the income generated. To add insult to injury, they pay employees ridiculously low wages. You don't get caring employees for 10 dollars or less an hour. Was the starter there and was let go 2 months ago. Well they still haven't provided me with my final check and every time I go in there or contact them it's 1 excuse after another. Sorry but that's not how you conduct business nor treat someone. Was released for standing up to another employee for cussing and cutting down someone for asking them to do job correctly so others don't have to do their work for them. They let me go but kept other person even though they know said individual is price changing, stealing and selling items to customers on low. read more

I really like Savers and think they are underrated. It would be nice if they were not for profit. But they have lots of one of a kind stuff and you can find great treasures. I don't go as often as I might because I would spend more money. But I have found some great vintage items, chiefs shirts, jeans - you name it! So fun to go to! I understand a business needs to make money. But the prices at Savers are ridiculous. I have found multiple Dollar Tree Items marked at $2.99. I have found items marked $2 less than the original price tag. If I wanted to pay the original price I would go to the original store. Savers items are over priced, and priced inconsistantly. And don't expect good customer service. The managers lack social skils. I actually had a manager up price a set of place mats at the register. She broke up the set, and wanted to charge me double. I didnt buy them. Savers on Barry Rd has been going down hill fast. I think I have finally made my last trip to Savers on Barry. I do recomend the Savers in Liberty. Their prices are reasonable, and the staff is nice. read more

Excellent thrift store. One of the best Savers in Kansas City. I have honestly shopped at every Savers in the Kansas City area. This Barry Road one and the one in Liberty outshine all the others. Much cleaner, better changing rooms, better selection... you name it. On top of that, they have fantastic hours! This place went downhill FAST. Prices are laughable, workers are ambiveilent and sometimes just plain rude. I've actually watched the manager look up products on eBay and change prices. If you want eBay prices put it on eBay. Donation takers will "forget" to offer you your discount card or receipt. If you find an electronics item in a bag it's usually to hide that it has exploded batteries in it. It's a thrift store so if you thrift, stop in. But don't expect much. read more

By far my favorite savers in the area! It's so clean and the staff is very friendly. I have been to a couple others savers in the KC area and this location is by far my favorite. It's more out of the way for me but it's worth the drive! read more

Prices are ridiculous on many items...not all, but employees act like they can't stand the customers.

Savers has higher quality clothing items than other thrift stores. However, prices are high in comparison. I only recommend shopping their sale days(members only discounts)-this is when you'll find great deals. Some of my finds are my favorites in my closet. read more

TERRIBLE customer service experience!!! I was in the store yesterday purchasing items for Halloween costumes for my husband and I. I located an associate before I made any purchases and asked what their return policy was. Cassie explained to me any "new" items that were Halloween related could not be returned due to the fact it was after the October 14 return policy date. All of the other items I had selected could be returned within 7 days, including a suit jacket I was purchasing for my husband and was unsure if it would fit or not since it did not have any tags on it. She told me that was fine and proceeded to help me locate a few other items I was looking for. When I got all the items home the suit jacket did not fit my husband and the shirt that I had purchased for myself was no longer needed, as I found a better one somewhere else. I returned to the store today to make the returns and was told they only exchange items and was referred to a manager. The manager, Devon listened very annoyed like to what I was telling her had happened and looked at me and said, "it's exchange only so you need to buy something else, go pick out what you want to & come back and see me." I explained I don't need anything else and would like her to honor the return since Cassie had told me the day before everything could be returned. She said that is not what she told me, I was wrong without even asking Cassie what she had told me. Devon stormed off and said that was all she could do for me and to wait there. While she was gone I found Cassie and asked her if she recalled the conversation we had the day before. She listened and agreed and said, "yeah I told you that, why?" I explained what was happening and she seemed confused and said "I don't know" and looked away. After Devyn did not return for several minutes Cassie looked over and said she'll be right back. When Devyn returned she exchanged the suit jacket, but did not give me the cash back on the shirt and told me this would never happen again and I was not told that I could return anything. When I asked her for her supervisor's name she told me "Kim". I asked to speak with her, she said she was too busy to talk with me and stormed off. A few minutes later a man named Steve came over to finish helping me. He listened to what was going on, reiterated their policy to me. I explained how RUDELY I have been treated, how long I have been waiting and how abrupt and poor of customer service skills Devon has. He said "OK" and returned the shirt. He then told me this was a one time deal, they do not do returns. I told him he doesn't have to worry about that I would never shop there again and I would make sure to give them a review and I took down everyone's name who had been involved in the situation. Never once did anyone apologize for the confusion or that I'd been given misinformation. It's not about the dollars coming back, as I told Steve I would have just handed the stuff to another customer and let them have the exchange because I needed nothing else in that store and I would make sure not to ever shop there again. Terrible service, terrible store, terrible stuff! My advice is stay far away! Before I left this review I went to a few other sites to review and read others reviews of Savers. This seems to be a common problem for this company, it is severely lacking in good customer service associates bottom to top! read more

I love this store. The employees are so friendly and helpful, and they have such good clothes, and I can't help but to come back for more.

I just love shopping at the Savers on Barry Road! I always make sure and take a donation so I can get a discount on my thifty shopping. Everyone is super nice and I have found lots of great brand label clothing - some with the new tags still on them. Last week I got an adorable Calvin Klein sweater dress and a pair of bjorn shoes. This is a great Savers! The normal level of organization and cleanliness (and that special Savers smell) but not as picked over as some I have visited. Got two nearly-new pairs of shoes for Boo (including Cole Haans for ~12 bucks) and a bunch of casual shirts for myself. It was also not crowded at all (sure it was around noon on a Monday, but ones I have visited in STL are ALWAYS busy) and the staff was friendly. Remember to bring a bag of donations and you (usually?
