We stopped by Saveurs in Mount Pleasant on a beautiful Sunday afternoon with perfect weather for outdoor seating. The patio was a nice, relaxed setting for a casual lunch. We each ordered a panini. I went with the vegetarian option and my husband had the smoked salmon. Both were very good--fresh ingredients and tasty flavors--and came with a small side salad. Nothing extravagant, but solid and satisfying. Afterward, we lingered with coffee and pastries. The chocolate-filled pastry and the pecan almond cinnamon roll were both excellent, and the coffees were tasty (though my café au lait was a bit on the smaller side). The standout was the service. The young lady working the counter was genuinely friendly, helpful, and patient as we asked questions and took our time deciding. It made the whole visit feel welcoming. Overall, although the price was a bit high for lunch and dessert, we had a pleasant experience and will definitely be back for another lunch or just to grab pastries and coffee. Flavor is good but oh, so slow and wrong! I came in and ordered a cold sandwich to go and sat and waited for 20 minutes for it. Then, they tried to not give me the side that came with it so I had to wait a couple extra minutes to get that. For additional insult, my BLT had no tomato and no mayonnaise. It was pretty sad. So, do not come here if you do not have extra time on your hands. Or want what you actually ordered. read more

Disappointing to see what this café has become in recent years. No longer is it a cherished neighborhood gem, packed on weekends and buzzing with energy. I regrettably gave this place another chance, only because the recent ownership changes at Owlbear Café are tough to see, so expectations were already low walking in. I soon discovered the latte I ordered turned out to be 50% foam and had a comparable flavor to coffee brewed at the Circle K gas station a few blocks away. I assume the blueberry danish was from a batch baked the day prior since it was the furthest thing from tasting fresh. Loved it! First time here. Not my last. My breakfast here was fabulous. I got the galette Norwegienne. Very delicious. Reminds me of France. The crepe was nice and crisp the Boursin was delicious alongside the smoked salmon. Also ordered a lovely pain au chocolat. Nice buttery, crisp, flakey layers. I'm not usually a picky person but thought I needed a comment. First the lady behind the counter was very nice and helpful. Problem came when we ordered French onion soup- it was not on the menu but my wife loves it and she said no problem. Soup du jour was listed as 7.50 a bowl- but the French onion was $15!! Then my wife ordered a buckwheat crepe that tasted like ham and cheese on cardboard. My panini was a bit bland but ok- then we had to bus our own table. Overall ticket was over $80 for 2 soups and 2 sandwiches. Just so you know, sorry to complain. read more

We stayed the night in Mt Pleasant and came here on our way out after having lunch at OwlBear hoping to indulge in some French pastries and coffee as a sweet delight. We ordered two pastries and a cappuccino and all three were terrible. Honestly, I was stunned. I bit into the pictured dessert called Papa something and it was dry, stale and so bland it was like a cardboard box trying to be a dessert. The cappuccino tasted like cigarettes and was simply awful. The tea selection is nothing special and at a place that specializes in French pastries some higher quality teas would be appropriate. It seemed like none of the pastries were fresh, at least a day old and pulled out of a freezer. They did exchange the Papa dessert for the Paris Brest and it was not good. I've eaten in patisseries in Paris and Rome and various U.S. locations and can say this rivaled the soy pastries in Okinawa that look beautiful but taste bad. Perhaps their lunch is where it is at. As for the service, the people were friendly but one of the employees smelled of cigarettes so that was not helpful either. Ambiance- nothing special. It's clean so that was appreciated. We left not finishing our coffee or pastries so sadly we had to give one star and that was for the kind employees. read more

Back to the pastries- wow. Each one was well portioned and $6. Flavors were rich and ingredients tasted fresh. We grabbed coffees to go as well and they were actually reasonably priced! This cafe has a very interesting vibe. The lime green walled and chairs do not really align with the whole French elegance and high quality food vibe they have going on otherwise. The French music was so soothing and I enjoyed listening to it while I worked. They do have some nice seating options both inside and outside. The things that turned me off: the Wifi barely/inconsistently works. There was pee in the toilet and on the seat, and no paper towels to dry my hands. And the dishes were overflowing in the bin where you return your glasses and plates for a good bit. Luckily by the time we finished our coffee, it had been emptied. read more

Overall: Great bread, great desserts, and great service! Couldn't ask for much more from a French cafe. The good: My wife and I needed a place to work remotely during COVID and the nearby Starbucks didn't have seating open yet. Saveurs seemed to be the best bet and we're glad we tried it out. The iced coffees were great, as were the baguette sandwiches and desserts we tried. The sandwich bread is crunchy on the outside but soft on the inside - just what you look for in a quality baguette. The opera cake was layered diligently and was a perfect blend of cafe and chocolate flavors. The staff was wonderful as well; they didn't mind that we had our laptops out and hung around all day (and some of a second day also!). Plenty of seating both inside and out. The not-so-good: The food prices are on the higher side, and the coconut cake we tried was good. However, it was one-note in comparison to the flavor variations of the opera cake. A little story. My husband and I were recently visiting Charleston and staying in Mt. Pleasant, which definitely lives up to its name. One evening we were desperate for coffee and pastries after an early dinner, so we stopped by Saveurs right when it was closing. In fact, the door was already locked! The two lovely gentleman working there were so accommodating - they let us in, whipped up two cappuccinos in a flash and we were able to purchase a few delicious French pastries to go, including a fresh choux and chocolate eclair. Met a friend here to catch up and because we love the pastries. Service was even good. Ambiance could be a lot more "French" but it's great for low key meetings. It wasn't until I realized that I was charged $8 for a gingerbread latte in a mug!! $4.90 for the latte but separate charges of $1.50 for a pump of gingerbread syrup and $1.50 for whip cream is just not acceptable especially when it cost more than a certain other coffee chain. I've been here for lunch before and it was so great we had to come back for the crepes! They were fantastic, a little too much chocolate for my liking, but that's just a personal preference. My go to work spot during the work day. This place is nice and quiet, you enter & order and have a seat, they will bring your food to you. The breakfast croissant is one of my favorites. Their crepes are gluten free with buckwheat. The salads are amazing, my favorite is the one with goat cheese. I have enjoyed everything I have eaten here. If you like mango, you have to try their mango dressing for their salads, if not sesame soy is my other go to. They have wifi and several outlets for you to work. The only downside is i think the auto trashcans are broken so hard to lift open, the silverware situation for whatever reason is strange, so remember to grab it when you pay if it's out there for you, and I feel like a new person is working every other time I am there because they aren't are familiar with the menu or what they have or what something is. Don't get me wrong, there are definitely knowledgeable staff members there as well and everyone is super nice. read more

Service can be uneven at times, once we waited over 20 minutes at 3 in the afternoon on a weekday, empty cafe inside, and outside, where we were seated, until they finally brought my friend's Americano. Today their service, though they were packed full, Saturday at 1030 a.m. was quick and efficient. Love their fresh baked almond croissants that sell out very quickly and their pan au chocolate, snagged one of the last of those. I appreciate it so much that they have oat, soy and almond milk alternatives for those of us who are lactose intolerant! Staff is friendly. This was a post bridge walk breakfast for us and it was so unassuming being in an outdoor mall location. The food served here is authentically French and the quality is unmatched. Everything we ordered was so delicious, the staff was wonderful and we left happier than we came. The menu is vast and can cater to any taste. They also have a wide selection of pastry options that look so tasty. My best recommendations are to try the espresso in anything and to arrive early as it became increasingly busy very quickly. read more

I really wanted to adore this place! The pastry case when you walk in gave me all the good feels.. that was short lived. I should've went with my gut and just ordered from there, to go! You order at the counter and then a tip is requested prior to getting food and you do have to clean up after yourself. I don't tip my mom when she cooks the food, kind of a turn off After we ordered, it took 35 mins until our food arrived. We are okay with the wait, knowing it's going to be fresh. First thing we saw is a hair looped around the fruit... that will turn off anyone's appetite. Took the fruit back up to the counter and was given another "scoop" of fruit from the same container, which is a huge no no. Just a "oh, I'll get you another". Not even an apology.
