I made an appointment well in advance, and showed up for my appointment. When I parked in front, I called to verify that I had the right address. During the phone call I find out that my appointment had been cancelled because it wasn't confirmed 24 hours in advance. I asked them how I was supposed to know that, because I wasn't told. I expected the office to call me to confirm. They told me they tried my number, but my phone was out of service. Why this was the case, I don't know, but my phone was fully functional since the dawn of time. Perhaps there was an issue with the network, but the red flag remains: if for some reason you cannot confirm your appointment during that one phone call the day before, your appointment will be cancelled. So, if you happen to be in a meeting, or have a busy day, or just have a bad phone day, your appointment is gone. Perhaps they may benefit from trying multiple methods, such as using email as well, text message, or simply attempting days in advance, so that the one time it doesn't connect, it's not the day before and the patient isn't left confused if that one attempt fails. Once I finally got in, about a week later, the staff were friendly and the dentist was good. No complaints about the clinical aspects of this office. Just a poor administrative experience. read more

I had cavities filled in January 2026 and paid what I told was the DENTEMAX rate. Then I got a bill for $1500! I've requested an itemized bill for months but the staff and office manager Winnie ignore my emails and phone calls. SAW MILL DENTAL continues to engage in BILLING FRAUD by OVERCHARGING, not complying with DentaMax rates, and sending vague invoices and unitemized bills! When they threatened me with collections, I cancelled my 6 month cleaning. Then Winnie finally emailed me back and said she would adjust my balance when I came in for my cleaning. After the first visit for my boys I liked them. After the second one I started to have second thoughts. I took them there for 3 visits and always had a different dentist, even when I had made an appointment with the one that saw them the first time. Was told that both my boys needed braces when their previous dentist told me only one needed them. I left that dentist only because he didn't take my insurance anymore. They have an orthdontist that comes in once a week and to get an appointment for a consultation was going to take at least 2 months. Then there was the business with billing. There was always a problem. I just got so turned off that I took by boys somewhere else. So happy I did. I know take them to Dr. Thomas Bazdekis on N. Broadway who is wonderful. I had an appointment scheduled that I waited over 3 months for, and the office canceled it less than 24 hours before--after they caused the confusion and failed to communicate clearly. Here's what happened: I was prescribed Amoxicillin by this very office, as part of the standard premedication protocol. When I called to confirm if taking 2000mg an hour before the appointment was sufficient, the staff member rudely told me to "read the bottle." I politely asked if she could double-check with the on-site doctor, and instead of helping, she got an attitude, hung up on me, and said she'd "get back to me tomorrow"--which was the day of the appointment. She later emailed demanding a form be signed by the orthopedist who operated on my hand in 2019, even though: That doctor has nothing to do with dental clearance. I've had cleanings done at this same office before, with no issue and the same prescription. They prescribed the antibiotic themselves! Not only was the experience unprofessional and disorganized, but the receptionist was also shockingly rude and dismissive throughout. I'm stunned that someone with such a disrespectful attitude is allowed to represent a healthcare practice. They wasted my time, showed no accountability, and treated me like an inconvenience rather than a patient. They did x-ray after the Dr came in saw the x-rays and said yeah you can schedule a cleaning! i was shocked so you know how long it took me to book this just to tell me I need to make another appointment. I made the appointment since my appointment was the first one on a Monday morning my son had a fever and I had To wait to call to reschedule. I told them the reason and apologize and wanted to reschedule but they told me I was Unable to make an appointment and would have to wait for text messages for same day cancellation. I visited Dr. Joon-young Koh at Saw Mill Dental once for tooth pain, but by the time my appointment came around, the pain had subsided. He didn't provide any solid feedback on the issue. During the exam, he didn't even mention the root canal issue I have, which I've been told repeatedly needs monitoring every six months. When I called later to discuss it, the receptionist advised that he'd call back--but he never did. I then tried scheduling a cleaning, thinking I could address the issue in person. They set me up with an appointment several months later and put me on a waitlist for cancellations. After that, I kept getting text alerts for available appointments, immediately followed by messages stating those appointments were no longer available. I canceled the appointment and requested my records be mailed. Terrible experience! read more

This is one of the first times I've gone out of my way to write a review, but I am so dissatisfied with the staff that I'm willing to take the time to share my experience. I have a dental procedure that was approved by my insurance back in March. It's now November, and the work is still not completed. I understand that I have a block on my account because I missed three appointments in August--two of which I missed because I had COVID. However, the manager, Winnie, is never available to discuss removing the block. I also understand that the staff's time is valuable, so I've been patient and followed their rules by calling every Friday to check for availability. Unfortunately, I've had no success, and every time I ask to speak to the manager, she is unavailable. Before these issues on my end, the dental office wasted a lot of my time. For example, the dentist broke a permanent crown inside my mouth, which had to be remade, delaying the process. Additionally, the dentist who started my procedure is no longer working there, and they canceled my appointments twice--both times on the same day while I was on my way to the office. In one instance, my temporary tooth broke, so I called to schedule an appointment. They initially told me to come in at 12:00 but later changed the appointment to 2:45, a three-hour difference. So you can see how back to back they did not respect my time. I'm extremely frustrated with these repeated issues, especially since I've been a patient at this office for years without any prior problems. Unfortunately, 2024 has been a terrible year for me as a patient at this dental office. I still have a temporary glue in my crown and my teeth that was suppose to get work done is now hurting. read more

1) I had an emergency procedure done 10/26/23 for which I was told I was mostly covered. As I usually do at the dentist I handed them a credit card for anything not covered with the expectation that they bill the insurance properly and get paid. 2) As far as I knew everything went fine. I returned several times for follow-ups, as it was an oral surgery. I then returned for a cleaning in January. And finally I returned in February for a crown on the tooth they performed surgery on. 3) While there I was recommended to get a veneer as the affected tooth was a front top tooth, aka: very visible. I was hesitant, but the Heidi their billing person convinced me it would look better when she came in to tell me the crown was a $455 copay and I would have to pay private for the veneer, $750. I used my a credit card to pay for both. 4) Afterward, the temporary veneer fell out twice. The first time they fixed it. The second time they refused because they said I owed almost $2000. I spoke to the insurance company and found out: Heidi the billing person had been doing her job incorrectly. She was resubmitting incorrectly and not communicating with the insurance company. My husband had to go there and put the insurance company on with Heidi ON HIS CELL PHONE and she still did it incorrectly and got denied again. 5) Heidi then went on vacation and her office manager said I had to pay. I had to call my insurance and they had to set up a situation where a SPECIALIZED AGENT FROM THEIR COMPANY CAN HOLD HEIDI 'S HAND AND GIVE HER STEP BY STEP INSTRUCTIONS on how to do her job. I work in healthcare and if I were this incompetent I would be fired, lose my license and probably get arrested. 6) Meanwhile, I have TWO ruined front teeth, that look horrible, no veneer or crown. 7) I no longer know what is going on as they cut me off as a patient by mail because I had the audacity to threaten with legal action. It would have been a pleasure to continue with this practice as the dentists were ok and I thought they could handle someone with my anxiety. Instead, they have left me with two exposed, ruined teeth, debts for INCOMPLETE, SHABBY work, pain when I eat and drink and almost daily anxiety attacks. I would like to thank Heidi at Saw Mill Dental for ruining my life. I can only pray that no one ever treats you as shitty as you've treated me. Now that the insurance has paid you your correct portion for the October work feel free to send me THE CORRECT bill as I never intended to not pay you thieves. Please don't give this company any more money by getting work done here. They are scam artists do horrible work. I went in to get a tooth pulled because I was in pain and they took x-rays of my teeth.they said that there were some other issues with my teeth and had me schedule a follow up appointment in two weeks. They called me and told me that my insurance approved all the work that they requested to have done. I said that I would come in two weeks when my appointment was scheduled for and they told me that I really needed to come in sooner. So they pushed my appointment up to three days after my initial appointment to get my tooth pulled. I still had no idea what I was actually having done to my teeth. I found out when I went in to my appointment that they scheduled for Saturday that I was having 4 root canals done. When doing the root canals a tooth was damaged to the point they could not save it. This should have been/could have been/would have been known if the dentist actually talked to me before he decided to do this. The care my child received there was great, the dentist was quick in getting the treatment that she needed, but the personal pay was way over the top. The people at the front did not care nor did they sympathize or try to work out a payment plan. My child care plan was going to be very expensive. It was all about the money, not care for the patient. I did have insurance but they were not interested into looking into the insurance company's coverage, but decided to charge me a large portion for my child to get her treatment the day of her services. I was in a tight position , because my child required urgent care. This really demonstrated that their priorities are not in in right place. I put it all on credit thinking they would send me my overpayment back, because that is what the ladies at the front claimed would happen. If you are in a tight place financially, this is not the place to go. They were not willing to look into insurance coverage, but getting their money. This is what my wife left on Google Reviews about this place: I spent a long time searching for a practice that could see my entire family, and had good reviews. Unfortunately, our experience here left a lot to be desired. 1. We didn't receive notice that our toddler's initial appointment was cancelled until we arrived. The reception staff found it amusing. 2. A billing issue for my toddler went unreported for 7 months, despite a second visit occurring. We were then refused service unless we paid in full before it could resolved with the insurance. 3. When I called to let them know we likely wouldn't return, the person who answered was snarky. The sad part is that we liked the pediatric dentist. After leaving I would have appreciated a bill sent to me. Never received one.. Didnt receive EOB until a year after service and received a text to pay without summary of services. Stay AWAY!!!! The people at the front desk are nice, the dental hygienist is also good enough... but the Dentist himself is terrible. He has no interest in spending more than 5 minutes with you (if you are lucky). It's impossible to get an appointment there and when you do , the treatment isn't addressed. He is dismissive and has no interest in helping you .Not if even if you have pain or anything serious. He tells you to come back, live with it (perhaps because he is tooo busy? I have no idea why) and then when you ask to come back assuming it's within a day or two the appointment is made at least another month out! May as well go to another dentist if that's the case. DO NOT GO TO THIS DENTAL NIGHTMARE! From my first appointment it was a horrible experience. They would cancel my appointments and not inform me. They say they do endodontics but refer you to an outside endodontist for root canals. In addition, there is a process for this referral but they never informed me. I had to call, upset and in pain, to find out what the process was. I was then called a "difficult patient" because of I was upset and in pain due to their lack of communication. Dr. Ko, supposedly the "caring compassionate dentist" makes determinations about my treatment without ever looking at my x-rays. The front desk is rude and here's the worst part, I filled out their survey and gave them the lowest number in all areas and was told to "not come back" by Winnie, the Office Manager. She said, "Since you're not happy with us - go somewhere else." So FYI - they are only looking for positive reviews even though they are incompetent and unprofessional. I only stayed as long as I did, which was a few months, because my insurance was accepted. They also stated I was the only one unsatisfied with them. Have they looked on Yelp lately? This practice will attempt to do dental X-rays of children every 6 months when the guidance is 12-24 months for children prior to eruption of first permanent tooth and 18-36 months for older children/adolescents. My dentist of 20 years has confirmed that the practice of taking frequent X-rays is unwarranted and unethical. If the insurance will pay for it then they will do it. BEWARE! Note: I became particularly concerned when my younger child complained of tooth pain and the dental technician took 5 images of the same spot because she was inexperienced in targeting the X-ray machine and so had to redo the X-ray multiple times. read more

I developed a painful toothache. I made an appointment for a consultation with Dr. Atwal. It was determined that my infected tooth had to be removed and I would need an implant. As Dr. Atwal did not do implants, she referred me to Dr. Friedman. Initially, the receptionist wanted to make my next appointment for a month from that consultation. The Saw Mill Dental receptionist, actually, wanted to send me home with a raging infection and an appointment for a month later. At that pointy, Dr. Atwal intervened and managed to find sometime in Dr. Friedman's schedule for the following week. After spending the next two days in excruciating pain, I contacted the office in the hopes that Dr. Friedman could fit me in as an emergency patient. This visit was the second time that Dr. Friedman provided dental work for me . On both occasions I found him to be condescending and extremely impatient with any of my questions and concerns. He actually raised his voice when I questioned him about some alternative procedures. Honestly, if I wasn't experiencing such extreme tooth pain, I would have gotten up and immediately left his office. Dr. Friedman did, in fact, pull my tooth. During the procedure he jabbed my upper lip area, several times with his dental probe as he was attempting to remove my crown. I am thoroughly disenchanted with Dr. Friedman's negative chair-side manner. First, I do want to say that the hygienist, Karen, is excellent. I also had not problem with Dr. Friedman who gives painless Novocain and did a good job at bonding my tooth. This is based upon a recent situation with office staff and a back up dentist who I had to see over the last month. At end of June I felt like someone punched me in the face and it was in the area where I had a dental implant. I called the office and they said Dr. Friedman was only in two days a week and could not see me, This happened 2 weeks in a row with me being passed off to another junior dentist who took xrays and just cleaned tooth and put arestin in and the following week saw hygienist who did the same. I was never told that he also had offices in New York City on E. 60th and in Suffern. I would have gone there to be seen. I therefore looked for another dentist and wrote a review last week. I was then called by the overall Manager of all 3 offices, who said that Dr. Friedman would make time to see me and was upset he was not informed of my problem. He did just that on Friday and found that I had a fractured back tooth and explained how we would address it. I now have a temporary crown on and will see if that works. If not root canal or pulling. Will write a follow up review. My suggestion to anyone who is having this situation if you have liked your dentist previously. The administrative staff is very unprofessional. I called in response to a billing statement that I received and the staff person named Ana interrupted me to state that it was an error on their end and it would be corrected. When I further inquired about continuing to receive these bills and not wanting their error to end up on my credit report, she acted like simply telling me it would be ok was sufficient. I asked that her statement be documented because I really don't want to end up being accountable for their mistake. She said the office manager (Maddie) would handle it. At this point I asked for her name in case I need to call back to confirm anything. She gave her first name but refused to share her last name (umm really...you have access to my full name, address and ss# but your last name is too private). It's ridiculous that I have to receive a bill because of their error but even worse that I get treated so poorly when I inquire about it. I am devastated by the work and how my smile looks. I look worse than before. So embarrassing, now I have to go elsewhere and get veneers to hide the damage done. I don't recommend the clinic at all. Dr. Friedman horrible temper, not professional, absolutely no bedside manor. Was a patient for over 15 years, spent 32k for implants, crowns total do over for mouth 4 years ago. I had a seizure 5 years ago but was not on meds. after my implants were done just went for 2 times a year cleanings. Recently was told one of my implants was failing. I returned a few days ago and was nervous and asked him how he was going to get this implant out and started to tell him I had a second seizure and now was on clonazepam and that there were many meds that cannot be taken such as pain and antibiotics. Instead of asking questions and asking for the list he thru a fit, raised his voice, pulled off my bib and told me get out of his office and never return. I was just speechless What kind of doctor does not want to know the meds his patients are taking. Each and every time I go to any doctor, no matter how long I have been seeing them they ask for updates on meds and even vitamins. What kind of professional cares so little for a patient he has treated for over 15 years and who has spent a fortune, both my husband and I that he just does not care at all. My neurologist has told me to fill out medical cards which I carry in my wallet and each and every purse. This Doctor is a danger and a terrible professional and person. BEWARE TO ALL THAT GO TO HIM. He has always been sharp/fresh short tempered but I always though of him as a good dentist but at this point he is a danger not looking and asking about meds. read more
