The food was excellent and well cooked. The wines were exceptional and when we eventually we got to bed it was into a bed of luxury. Beautiful and clean. I had only one complaint: the shower door is of glass and very hard to get round especially if you are older than an agile monkey. Please be careful. I was able to use free Orange WiFi and was able to catch up with my e-mails etc.

In the States, we'd refer to this sort of hotel as "extended stay". The cab ride from Gare d'Orleans was about 15 euro. The walk, should you not be overburdened with luggage or beset by poor weather, is only a few kilometers up a gentle uphill along a major route, so it is difficult to get lost. There are also a couple of bus lines which get near the hotel, but which do not service it directly - the nearest bus stop is a few blocks away. You might also have the option to get off the train at Gare de Fleury les Aubrais which cuts the necessary travel significantly. Mind that Orleans is a bit off the beaten track (and Saran doubly so) for most tourists, so I was glad to know some French when I went to check in as the clerk spoke no English. If you are considering this as part of your trip to France, do yourself a favor (and the locals the courtesy) of learning some French. There is not always someone at the desk, so mind the check-in hours and pay attention to the information they will provide about getting into the hotel after hours - access to the parking lot requires a specific key code which is different from the instructions given by the recorded message at the gate. The hotel provides a laundry room, with a single token for each of a washer and dryer coming to about 8 euros total, which from my limited experience doing laundry on this trip is about par. The hotel provides coffee and tea for only the first day. There are plenty of places to eat nearby, including - if you absolutely must - a McDonald's and a KFC. A better choice would be the boulangerie a couple blocks north, which was even open for lunch hours on New Year's Day. As this is outside of the tourist bubble, keep in mind that the shops keep standard French business and holiday hours: don't expect to get much done on a Sunday. There is an Aldi just a block or so away, so I recommend stocking the fridge with something to cook. If you cook, note that the hotel will charge a fee if the kitchen tools are damaged or not properly cleaned. The Chateau de l'Etang is only a few kilometers away, and the walk can take you by the Lac de la Medicinerie. The chateau is now part of a community center and is a nice way to spend a morning or afternoon.

The hotel is a converted castle with historical ties to Joan of Arc. The architecture is really cool and truly takes you back in time. It's also located overlooking a rushing river with some mild rapids. We stayed in a room equipped to house 5. It has 2 huge bed rooms (3 beds total) a nice sized bathroom and a flat screen tv. Though idk why you'd watch tv if your stating at this hotel. You'd better get outside and enjoy the area! The room is decorated in a mix of Asian and Mexican furniture. Very eclectic and super cool. It also has an old record player with many different records to choose from. I was really impressed by this. There is also a restaurant attached to the hotel. It's small with only about 6 tables so I'd make a reservation. The food is great and the service is too. I had the veal kidney. An interesting dish that I would recommend. During the meal a large cat that lives on the grounds came into the restaurant. Some may have been put off by this but I found it to be quite charming. The room (which as I said is huge!) came out to 130€ a night which is truly a steal. The dinner was reasonably priced as well. I highly recommend this hotel to any traveler.
