Sandanavian Designs is our favorite store in all of Reno. My husband and I recently relocated to Reno from the East Coast, bought a 20 yr old house and spent 6+ months on a complete interior renovation. When we moved, we did not bring much furniture and then disposed of everything when we started construction, so we needed to furnish an entire house from the ground up. We are both architects and simple and classic is our vibe, so after checking out the more traditional furniture stores in Reno, we headed over to Scandanavian Designs to find our people. We could not be more grateful that we connected with Hannah on our first visit. The sales people are so helpful at Scandanavian Designs; they have a ton of knowledge with no pressure. We have been back at least a half-dozen times, sometimes to buy and sometimes just looking. Always greeted with the same smiles and welcome. To date we have purchased a complete living room (2 sofas, coffee table, end tables, storage unit, shelves, Stressless recliner and ottoman, game table and 2 chairs), dining room (table and 8 chairs), kitchen counter stools, and primary bedroom (bed and nightstands). Everything to date has been delivered as promised in excellent condition and the delivery crew is a joy to work with. The value we've received has far exceeded the price paid. We will likely be back for more accessory pieces and lamps, and will look again at the rugs and pillows. In fact we may also furnish our guest bedroom through Scandanavian Designs even though that was not on the original list for new purchases. We just love the design and quality of the pieces and also love working with Hannah in putting together the orders. read more

I am updating my previous review, to say that management reached out to us and also worked internally within Scandinavian Designs to better retain the initial schedule they provided to us, and in the end they were able to essentially do that (close enough), and so they did redeem themselves very nicely. They did find the pieces we had purchased, and even delivered them on two separate occasions while only charging for one delivery. The staff was great throughout all of it. I do not blame staff at all for the snag regarding delays, because the staff was able to overcome it, and the potential delays were from factors beyond their control. I would say it would be more of a responsibility of the Corporate Management to improve their system for tracking shipments. We have since purchased additional furniture from this store, and we are very happy with all of the pieces we have purchased. read more

First time visiting this location.. Wow.. beautiful showroom! A lot bigger than I expected.. Before I would remember the furniture more of a wood selection.. Wow.. nice beautiful leather... Sectionals look so chic.. Art work was very impressive.. If I was pet free I would shop here..! If not, my dogs would be running all over and on top of the couches.. It's like a Nordstrom IKEA! Guess that's why my house is all Rc Wiley.. I think they let you shop on your own and I was asked if I was doing okay.. Glad I stopped.. or maybe now I have new goals.. read more

I absolutely love this place! They have an excellent selection of beautiful and comfortable furniture. It is a bit pricey but not more than the other top name brand places. I actually found their furniture to be more reareasonably priced for the quality. Ron helped me with my purchase, and he was really nice, knowledgeable, and explained everything clearly. Ron also gave me a call to let me know the couch I just bought had gone on sale, and they would be refunding me the difference. Above and beyond service! Don't waste your money spending extra on delivery and set up. My bed was damaged during the process and they did not even mention what they had done before having my mom sign the paperwork. They struggled putting on the legs of my bed and even used a hammer to make it fit? There is no way they did not know that they had damaged it while putting it together. The manager was very passive aggressive on the phone regarding the issue and offered to replace just the legs of the bed but would be sending the same men to do the job. I was offered that or 150 dollars, I asked for more since I paid 100 dollars just for the delivery and set up alone. 200 was the best he could do on a 1000 dollars purchase. People have no integrity, I work hard for my money and it's the principle. I'm not an unreasonable person but this was infuriating. read more

After searching all of the furniture stores in Reno and Carson, we finally found Scandinavian Designs. Went in looking for a sleeper sofa to put in an AirBnb and found an awesome one here. It was exactly what we needed but as we talked more to one of the salesmen, he showed us a few other options and we went full circle and decided to purchase a funky orange futon. We are so glad that we chose this futon and the price was great. We also picked up an oil painting to match. Picture is where it is going our AirBnB. I love me some IKEA, but sometimes IKEA furniture is not good enough for me. In the rare cases when that happens, I go to Scandinavian Designs, which belongs to the same company as Dania Furniture. I like sleek, modern furniture, and what is sold at places like Ashley Furniture and RC Willey is so not my style. My quality of life at home has increased significantly since we replaced a hand-me-down couch with a beautiful leather couch from Scandinavian Designs. It makes me so happy to see it and sit in it. And it was a steal at $1,000! It was only a few hundred dollars more than our favorite but nevertheless sub-par option at IKEA. In the wake of the realization of the awesomeness of stylish, comfortable furniture, I bought an accent chair for my office for $350. It too makes me so happy! Both of the items we purchased were labeled "design deals," which means the store has decreased the item's price. Originally my office chair was $500. I am glad that I waited a few months for the price to go down! The sales associates, especially John, were helpful in identifying where in the store to look for our desired items. And they were patient and left us alone when we needed to sit in our options for a long time to assess whether they were actually perfect. Picking up one's order is super easy. It usually takes a week for items to arrive. You just drive to the back of the store, give your name, and an employee will fetch it and help you load it into your vehicle. Great selection for modern looking furniture. They have a wide selection of couches, dining tables, patio furniture, side tables and such. We actually ended up buying a couch from them last year and several months later, it started making a weird sound when you would sit on it. I immediately contacted the store, the couch was still under warranty and I am currently in the process of exchanging it, all covered. Very nice staff and superb customer service as well! What happened to this store? Don't waste your time. It used to be so great with respect to customer service and availability. They advertised a huge sale and NOTHING is marked!!! I gave 1-star because the construction staff that was there to fix roof leaks was very helpful while the floor staff never even asked us if we needed help for six chairs and two recliners. I have to imagine that's a great daily sale from one customer. A friend of mine got a postcard and saw some dining room chairs she dearly loved. She forgot the postcard at home and went in and describe the chair; it took almost 15 minutes for Ron the manager to even find the chair after she described it. Then he informed her that without the postcard he could not give her a sale price. He made her drive all the way home to get it!!! At this point, she picked me up because the chairs did seem fabulous and I have a truck and we went back to get them. We were told by Ron the manager that these chairs were not on sale and this was a mistake. Now mind you my friend has been at the store the first time for over 15 minutes, drove home, got the postcard, came over and we went back and waited another 25 minutes for Ron to research the postcard. Then he told us it's just confusing and he could understand why we were so confused (with deep eye rolls that almost touch the top of his face mask with a condescending voice...we women) they are not on sale. He would not call the corporate office, the chair was clearly shown as up to 60% off but he would offer 10%. She went home and emailed corporate Scandinavian Designs only to be given the runaround for two more hours! Where they too offered her 10%. This store has really gone down hill ...don't waste your time. Even if you see something the prices are not marked and unless you impress Ron who has the secret sale list you'll never know what the true price is. I used SD and other vendors in the time of Covid to buy furniture for a new house. Scandinavian Design was the ONLY vendor who delivered multiple orders of furniture on schedule. No delays, no issues, right at the scheduled time, polite service - such a big relief! Every other big-name furniture company either cancelled on us (sometimes even without letting us know!) or messed up the order, or the delays were unacceptable. Polite and helpful customer support (Ralf, at the Cupertino store), he remembered my name, and always called back as promised. If the furniture matches your taste, I highly recommend them. read more

So this place used to be called Dania Furniture, but I'm assuming Scandinavian Designs bought them out. I'm happy because I really like Scandinavian Designs' sleek modern look. I recently purchased a sofa here but totally neglected the fact that they might not have extras in the store. I will actually have to come back later (4 days after date of purchase) to pick it up because it's going to be delivered to their store from the warehouse in Petaluma; this is because I wanted to save a little bit of money by not having it delivered directly to my place. The only other item that i actually own from Scandinavian Designs is a dining table that I purchased second hand from someone, and thus far I love it and haven't had any issues. I want to say their furniture is well thought out and built, but we will see how this sofa holds up. The employees here at this store are friendly, not that helpful, but friendly. They don't seem too enthusiastic about wanting to sell you anything, which could be a good or bad thing depending on how you want to look at it. Good because they aren't hounding you for a sales commission, Bad because maybe they just don't care. Whatever the case is, they will answer any questions you may have and they aren't rude at all. read more

I went in completely on a whim not expecting to buy. Looked around and saw MY SOFA SET. Didn't know I needed it but when I saw it, the star aligned haha. I actually live in the Bay Area and so I called the store to see what I could do. Hanna answered and from there on, I had a wonderful experience. She provided me with an excellent break down of costs and fees, was a prompt communicator, and kept in contact with me over the few days I needed to make sure it was the right move for me. She never pushed or coerced as sometimes happens with sales folks. She was amazing. When it came time to go pick up my pieces she made sure things were ready to go right when I arrived. My husband and I just moved to the area and needed new furniture and previously had great experiences with Scandinavian Designs. We tried out several pieces at the store, made a long list, and came by to order it one evening. Since we had already decided on everything we needed, the ordering process was really quick and the man who assisted us took less than 15 minutes for our order that totaled almost $5,000. So I ordered, paid, and set up delivery for 10 days later. 1 day before the delivery, I reread the receipt and noticed that they had mistakenly ordered 2 credenzas and left out an office desk. So, we went back to Scandinavian Designs to iron this out, and the nice lady at the desk made sure that our order was right this time. While we were there, I informed her that I had not yet received the delivery schedule call - which was when she noticed that the original man who "helped" us with our order had never placed our delivery order in the first place! GREAT, so now we had to wait another 10 days for our furniture. UGH! She did end up waiving our initial delivery fee, but the deliveries were spaced out over 2 days and, frankly, after 3 weeks of being without furniture, we were not very happy customers. I would have gladly paid the delivery fee to have had everything right the first time! Really shocked that the first guy who helped us made such a big mistake, especially since we made his life easy by coming in with a pre-made shopping cart list worth almost $5,000. All that being said, we love all the furniture items we purchased, and if we hadn't had such a bad customer experience, I could see myself making many more purchases. read more

I moved recently to Reno from out of town and spent numerous hours and lots of money buying furniture from those online sites--you know which ones I'm talking about--and found most of the stuff I bought to be marginal at best and total junk at worst. And then I discovered Scandinavian Designs. The selections there are modern but not so ridiculously futuristic as to be silly, just clean, sleek, and stylish. I've purchased a dining room table and chairs, a bedroom set, bar stools, and several pieces of wall art. I couldn't be happier with the quality and style of my purchases. I agree with other reviewers that customer service is attentive but not pushy. I have returned a couple of pieces, not due to quality issues but personal purchase errors, and staff have never questions my motives. We like their selection of furniture with a modern design. Sometimes "modern" means cheaply made but we found the quality to be very good. They have a huge selection of sectionals, rugs and accessory pieces so you don't have to search multiple stores to put a room together. Initially we purchased a leather sectional, wall hanging and 2 rugs. There was a mismatch in color with one piece of the sectional. Hanna promptly arranged for a replacement. She also assisted us with the purchase of a dinette set and wall hanging. Hanna and the other sales reps have been friendly and customer oriented. No sales pressure or impatience when we mulled over the many choices. Quality for items purchased was good and prices (with sales discounts) were a good value. They have been accommodating with delivery schedules. We are satisfied return customers. read more

My kitchen table, chairs & bedroom set are absolutely gorgeous and very well made. The delivery guys were fun and friendly and they assembled everything with remarkable speed. I was surprised to find the inventory so affordably priced. When we first walked into the store, we thought we were just going in to gawk, but the furniture turned out to be well within our budget. As for customer service-- the salesman was helpful without hovering. Then, when we got to the register, it turned out that some of the pieces we chose were on sale. I ordered two desks, two returns, and two filing cabinets on May 28, 2017. I was told it would be the end of June before the back-ordered desks arrived, which was no problem. I was remodeling my home office, and didn't plan to be ready to put the desks into the space until the end of June. The items arrived a little early on June 19, 2017. I picked them up on June 20, 2017 and we started assembling them that day. Upon opening the desks, we noticed that both of them had two left legs, and could not be fully (or correctly) assembled without the left and right legs. I immediately contacted the store and they promised to look into it and find out why I had received the wrong legs in both packages. I got a call back the next morning and was told that they were aware of the issue, new legs would be sent to the store, and would arrive on June 30, 2017. I was not pleased with the delay, but accepted it, as it was still within their quoted time frame of the original delivery. The store recommended that I assemble the desks the best I could until we got the correct legs, but I declined. To get the incorrect leg off the desk (for eventual replacement) required me to fully-dismantle it, and I didn't want to deal with it. On June 30, 2017, I called the store to see if my legs had arrived so I could build my desks. I spoke with a different sales associate who told me the legs had not arrived, and in fact were not set to arrive until the end of July. When I told the associate that I was told they would arrive On June 30th, he said, "Well I don't know what to tell you, but they won't be here before the end of July." Wow, great customer service... At this point I was not willing to wait another month to build some desks. Getting the desks setup was the final part of a home office remodel I undertook at request of my employer to have a flexible work-from-home schedule. I took the legs to a friend's house, where we drilled the correct holes, and tapped them for threaded screws. Really I should have just done that from the start, so I could have avoided all this hassle. What really irritates me is the call I received on Saturday, July 1st, 2017 from the store. The original sales associate I had worked with called me up and told me, "Hey, your desk legs are here." Really? After you guys told me they would be another month? Clearly the right hand does not know what the left hand is doing at this store. Their reason for giving me the incorrect arrival date on the desk legs was that the associate was looking at the order date for the additional legs that were ordered for the store, and not my order. In addition to the issues with the desk legs, one of the filing cabinets lacked the rails to hang file folders. I had to go down to the store and pickup the rails they had pulled out of the display model. So, in summation, this was first and now my last time shopping at Scandinavian Design. Really quite sad because I love the clean and modern look of the furniture in my home office. read more
