Wow, I'm surprised at the two prior one star (!) YELP reviews. This is my first time back to Penn's…read moreColony in probably over 15 years, but it was delightful last day of summer weather so we ventured out. It's in the middle of nowhere in a huge field/farm area, in Saxonburg, PA so a far jaunt from Pittsburgh & about 40 minutes from Cranberry Twp. They had many parking volunteers dressed in period colonial clothing and parking was fast (free) and easy when we arrived at 11am. They opened at 10am. There were 3 entrance points so lines moved fairly quickly. There is a small senior discount. They should have let people with pre-purchased tickets skip the line but they had to wait too, which seemed to defeat the purpose of pre-purchasing (although they did get a discount). We paid $14 total for one adult & one senior. They had over lots and lots of vendors of all sorts as well as one aisle that was all foods. They had several kids crafts such a face painting, pumpkin painting, pony rides, forge your own mini sword. They have music, regiments marching, guys who know their history inside and out & will expand your knowledge. We spent about 2 hours exploring & really enjoyed it. It is held rain or shine, so in rain or after rain do wear boots because you WILL get muddy. They also have horse & carriage rides. If you enjoy craft fairs, colonial times & want to teach the kids some hands on history through live demonstrations I highly recommend it!
