She (Mrs Schantz) didn't even bother to show up for the court date!!! Her office called later that morning and said she tried coming but got stuck in traffic.... hmmmmm, no one called me or replied to my voicemails until after the appearance I made ALONE in court. She never even had the decency to call me herself. I got married and needed a simple name change, I paid the $2500 she required (exuberant! I had ALL the required documents already filled out and ready to file since I tried to do it myself). The only ONE SINGLE court appearance before the judge and she DIDN'T EVEN SHOW!! The judge asked me pitifully where my lawyer was and I said I don't know. "Well, that's not a professional lawyer at all" was his reply. He has a mastery of the law and unlike many attorneys who need to associate with appellate counsel, Hale handles his own appeals. I used Hale Schantz for my recent divorce and received very good counsel and advice. He is experienced, competent and knows both the judges and opposing counsels well, which helped in crafting a strategy. I read that old Yelp review prior to engaging with Schantz & Schantz and found it to be completely different from my experience. I think it was some guy with a bone to pick. In my experience, they were professional, extremely responsive and communicated well. Hale even went out of his way to assist me during his vacation, which I appreciated while in the thick of trying to settle. These guys didn't nickel and dime me for every little email or "touch" and were fair in their billing. They were fair and reasonable. Hale and Laura are in the business of taking innocent children from loving homes , and legally forcing the parent on the other end to pay to have it done. If you want a divorce and obtain full custody and child support , with no regards for your child's life,future, or well being , this law firm is for you. I own a home and my son is living in a shack in Hialeah , yet my ex and her new husband drive brand new $50k cars. Hale Schantz represented me during my divorce and custody dispute. I can't praise him and his staff enough. He was actually my second attorney after I fired the first one due to outrageous legal bills (among other things). A close friend of mine who studied law recommened Hale. Hale was one of his professors in law school. when Hale took over the case It was clear I was in the hands of an attorney who was capable. As time went on it was clear he cared. As my case proceeded, there was an endless barage of filings, motions and hearings from the "other side". I don't know if they were meant to wear me down, cause excessive financial damage to me or simply run up my ex wifes legal bills. What ever the reason, Hale did a great job with them and since he was fair with his billing I was able to continue the fight. As in many cases involving child custody my case was complicated and lenghty so I had many opportunities to see him in action first hand. He knew the law, my case and could think on his feet. I saw him argue my case In front of the Judge and it was clear he was well known and respected by her. In mediations his commonsense, knowedge of my case and the issues was extremeley helpful in influencing the mediator. In confrontations against my ex-wifes attorney I was glad to be on his side of the table. On more than one occassion his quick witt and sense of humour easily cut down rediculous comments from the ex-wifes attorney and had the judge chuckling. Frankly, a little humour went a long way getting throuh a very difficult time. When I worked with Hale, I could tell he cared and I felt like I could trust him. I think my assesment was accurate.
