This castle on the side of a hill overlooking the Danube is about an hour out of Vienna. It has belonged to various people over the years, but most famously to Franz Ferdinand (the heir to the Austro-Hungarian empire assassinated in 1914, which started WWI not the rock band), and he is buried here with his wife Sophie. The castle houses a museum that also does exhibitions, with a lot of memorabilia of the Habsburgs time. Definitely recommend visiting if you are in the area. read more
