The shower had a very large step to get in/out of making it difficult for short people (such as myself). The water in the shower would get very hot and then get very cold all within seconds. The hotel is located within a 15 minute walk of the old downtown Salzburg and you can take the walking path along the river which is conveniently located across the street. The hotel staff were not very friendly and certainly didn't go out of their way to be helpful.

We had a nice one night stay. The hotel is right in the historic district so easy to walk anywhere…read morein the city. Our room was small but the bed was very comfortable and the shower room was spacious. The hotel is very historic with barrel ceilings in the restaurant and winding hallways to many of the rooms. Breakfast was good with cooked to order eggs and a nice selection of meats, cheeses and breads, though no gluten free for me - but I didn't request it ahead of time.

Food was good but the stand out for me was the bread with pesto ("homemade herb paste"). We had the burratina to start and I had the char - I loved the white beans with thyme & lemon that came with the fish; I'll definitely look for other fish recipes that pair with beans. I am not sure what the tasty foam sauce it was drowned in was but at least my dish looked more appetizing than the onglet of veal that my colleague had, which looked like some poor animal had fallen from a great height and landed on his plate. :) Artistic plating to go with an artistic hotel I suppose.

When we arrived, we clearly were the only tourist in the place. Which is what we wanted. The staff was very friendly and helpful explaining our choices. The hotel has an excellent restaurant but just around the corner is the Langenloiserhof restaurant. The food is traditional Austrian/Bavarian and was excellent. The food is quite reasonably priced and the portions are more than enough. The staff was very friendly. We speak German so we didn't try English so can't tell if that made any difference in the service. It seems to be a locals place since unless you are staying in the area like we were, a tourist staying in Salzburg probably wouldn't make the trip. After we ate there the first time, we then read a couple reviews in German that totally bad mouthed the restaurant. We went a second time and had as good an experience as we had the first time. So we found these reviews to be completely unwarranted.
