But none have felt like home the way Hotel Goldener Hirsch does. The hospitality is exceptional. Warm, attentive and genuine. From the moment we arrived, we were made to feel not just welcomed, but cared for. Our room was beautifully appointed, with a view overlooking the Pferdeschwemme. It was comfortable in that rare way that makes you want to unpack, settle in and stay a while. Breakfast service delivered to our room each morning allowed us to ease into the day with quiet and comfort. In the evenings, we found ourselves at the hotel bar both before and after dinner, drawn in by the atmosphere and the incredibly welcoming bartender. I wish I had gotten his name. His professionalism, beautiful cocktails and way of making everyone feel like a regular added a layer of warmth that made those evenings feel special. I'm going to return. Hotel Goldener Hirsch is more than a luxury property. It's where we'll return, again and again, because it feels like coming home.

Directly behind the hotel are numerous hiking trails heading into the mountains, and one that leads to a beautiful gorge. The hotel is located within driving distance to Salzburg, Hallstatt, and Berchtesgaden which makes it a perfect starting point for many different journeys. The staff at the Pass are extremely friendly, and speak perfect English being that David the owner comes from England. The Breakfast in the morning is delicious, and was the best we found while traveling around Austria and Germany. One stand out is the indoor playroom for kids with a little slide and a ball pit. This is a great way to keep the kids entertained while resting in the evenings. Overall if traveling through Austria this is a great place to center your vacation around. I called this amazing establishment in May of 2021. I was immediately given all the proper information per prices , the location and type of room was available. I went ahead and booked an apartment. I called the establishment on the day of my arrival to confirm my booking. Everything was in order. Upon arriving I was warmly Welcomed by Lena who runs the guest house with her Family. She helped me with my bags and showed me my room. Later that Evening I was also Welcomed by George Lena's Husband. They organized bread and coffee for me every morning, my covid tests and made sure my room was cleaned. Lena and her Family take a lot of pride in their guest house and give % to their guests. If you need any information or any questions on the area during your stay just ask Lena and everyone in her Family. They are the best of the best and very cool in my book. The guest house is situated on the top of a hill and you have great views of the mountains and the beautiful village of Kössen.The guest house has beautiful balconies and also has beverages based on the honor system. Simply check off the drink you for had for the day and pay your total at the end of your stay. Great assortment of water, Lemonades, wine and beer. The guest house is very clean and has a beautiful garden area. It should I am originally from Dublin, Ireland, Lived in the United States for over Thirty Four Years and traveled all over the world with the United States Marines. There are two TVs although we didn't use them. The TV in the bedroom didn't work. Shower is small for the size of the bathroom. It was possible but challenging to find plugs bedside for charging phones and such. There is also a lot of light that comes in from the skylights and can't be blocked. Light sleepers may find it hard to sleep after sunrise (5ish AM in May). Despite the skylights I found the room a little dark during the day. Not enough natural light for the size of the room. All this said the reason to consider this room is the rooftop deck space. The view from the roof is amazing. Great place to share morning coffee or an afternoon/evening wine or beer. Nighttime views are also amazing! Our second room was a more typical hotel room. Nothing special, but cozy and still nice. The building dates back about 700 years although most of what you see is more modern through countless renovations over the centuries. Still cool to be in a place with so much history! You can't beat the location of this hotel. You can walk to virtually everything in the old town of Salzburg and there must be 50 restaurants within 200 meters of this hotel. The hotel restaurant is good to stop in at least one. They will make a decent espresso in the morning or serve a nice meal for dinner. We would definitely stay here again when we visit Salzburg!

It's in an historic building and located near to where Mozart was born. Walking is easy as it's in a pedestrian zone in the center of the old town on the Sigmund Haffner Gasse. Just around the corner is the baroque old town, the festival hall and the gorgeous cathedral. They have a great breakfast buffet and your dog is allowed to stay with you for a 30 euro per night fee. The hotel restaurant has great reviews and it's a nice place to stop and to have a bite of authentic Tirol cuisine.
