I have only needed to use the practice for minor skin conditions, so I cannot review their treatment of more serious conditions. I have been seen by Amy Tank,PA, and Deeyana Dekhan, NP. They were both punctual with good bedside manners. Tip: be sure to ask a lot of questions, though, like "What might have caused this condition?," "How can I prevent this condition from returning," and "What is good care after the immediate treatment?" Coffee station is available for free tea or coffee to drilnk while you wait, but I've never had a long wait. I was reported to have an important issue and it is so hard to get someone to talk about it. Everytime I call, they make you wait and the call is disconnected. They cannot get ahold of their billing. It's 2025 and I'm repeatedly getting one bill from 2022. I called their billing company and the person said they would check into it, and then I receive an email that the bill still stands but with no explanation. I also sent a copy of my credit card payment showing the total due paid. They ignored it and keep sending me the same exact bill along with texts and emails of the same. My appointment with Margarita Lolis MD was scheduled for 10:50am. I was asked to arrive 15 minutes early. I arrived 25 minutes early. I checked in and was told they were running behind schedule 30-40 minutes. Phone call, text message, or an email would have been appreciated!!! I was badly misdiagnosed and went through more than six weeks of struggling until I got a 2nd opinion where they did a biopsy and a thorough exam and came up with the diagnosis and treatment. Subpar service and fraudulent billing, beware! I spent several thousand dollars at Schweitzer for botox and PRP. At each visit, the fee was discussed and I was charged prior to the service. My provider each time was Amy Tank. During one of my visits, I casually mentioned to my companion that I had a rash. Amy interjected and stated "I'll give you a prescription for that." She never examined my rash, discussed my condition or told me that there would be an additional charge for the prescription. Moreover, I never sought treatment for the rash, which was nothing more than a common skin irritation that did not require any treatment. Months passed and several visits later, when I presented for another cosmetic procedure, the front desk advised me that I owed $250.00 for the cortisone prescription. When I disputed this, they asked my for my insurance card and told me not to worry, they would bill my insurance. I can't say what they did on their end, but they continued to chase me for the $250.00, which I have disputed over and over. Each time, I have been told that it was a computer error on their end and I should not worry. Long story short, they now put me in collections and I am still disputing the charge. It is simply illogical that I would seek a prescription of cortisone at a fee of $250.00 when I could have purchased it over the counter or gotten it from my doctor for the cost of a regular co-payment. At this point, it is my sincere belief that Schweiger Dermatology attempted to fraudulently bill my medical carrier for a medical visit/service that I did not request or receive. As for the service itself, Amy Tank was nice enough, but often rushed. Following my last botox visit I had a lot of bruising. I've been getting botox for years and have never had bruising with anyone else. Also, the PRP did absolutely nothing for me. Every time I went, I expressed concern that I was not seeing any difference. Amy kept telling me that it can take up to two months after the third treatment to see results. When that time came and went with no results, she finally acknowledged that that the area treated looked worse than before I started. read more

I waited six weeks for my September 16 appointment with Doctor DAVID CIOCON to remove a tiny, ¼ inch, Basal Cell Carcinoma from my left cheek. I was told by a PA in the Hackensack office that he was the best doctor for such a procedure but is only in the Hackensack office on Monday afternoon/evenings. After a 40-minute wait for my 5:20 p.m. appointment I was ushered into a room where a young woman proceeded to shave off my left sideburn. Next a young man and woman entered the room. They did not identify themselves or explain what the procedure entailed and if memory serves me, they wore surgical masks. Even with the mask neither resembled the DAVID CIOCON I remembered from his photo on their website provider list. After an injection they asked me if I felt pain, and then proceeded to probe my cheek for what seemed like 20 minutes. When I removed the bandage the next day there was an ugly three-inch incision below where the basil cell was removed, and the side of my face was still swollen. After eight days my face is still swollen and painful to touch. I am consulting another doctor to examine the wound and an attorney to determine if the "Bait and Switch" was malpractice especially if the incision becomes a scar. In any case Dr Ciocon will be held accountable for this mistreatment. read more

I spent $1800 for one session of two types of laser treatment to get rid of the red and brown spots on my face. $1800 is a lot of money for (2) ten minute sessions done consecutively. Dr. Goldberg told me, "I would see a considerable difference after the first treatment." I saw no difference after the first laser treatment. I went for a follow-up visit. Dr. Goldberg then said, "you will see no difference after the first treatment. It will take 4 -5 treatments to see a difference. The cost would be $7000 - $9000 dollars for laser work that takes very little time to do. Had I known I was going to have to do 4 -5 treatments, I would have never gone for the first procedure. Dr. Goldberg is not an honest person, and has an attitude problem. Do not use him for laser work. read more

I have a lesion in my ear that caused me pain and discomfort. Hasnain Rangwala the PA that took care of me said it was precancerous and not to worry about it. I kept going back with this complaint three times and all three times he said not to worry about it it was nothing and that it could not be removed. I went to my ENT and got a second opinion and my ENT said it looked bad and did a biopsy of my ear. It came back with "well-differentiated squamous cell carcinoma" So now I have to get radiation on my ear for 30 days. Thank God I went to my ENT! By far the most unprofessional medical office I have ever been to. I arrived and was send to waiting room 2 in the back. I waited 15 minutes and noticed people going in before me. I asked how much longer the wait would be and was told nobody ever checked me in so I had been waiting to no reason while others went ahead. I was seen relatively quickly as there were no other people aside from the ones that went ahead of me. My provider was friendly. A few of the girls in the office that are staff there were definitely talking about sexual things and acts, knowing that there's patients waiting and children present. It was honestly pretty disturbing to hear that and beyond unprofessional. I understand you're coworkers and you joke and talk about different things, but also be mindful that there are people there. If I could give 0 stars I would. My mother is an oncology patient suffering from an infection in her scalp. She is wheelchair bound. We arrived 8 minutes late to our appointment and the nurse practitioner Erin REFUSED to see us. Refusal to see a patient with a potentially serious infection could have serious implications on my mother's health. We were then forced to be seen at an emergency room. This is BEYOND negligent, and the worst care i have ever witnessed. If a nurse practitioner is not willing to take on the RESPONSIBILITY of caring for patients, she should not be permitted to see patients and find a different career. Originally had very high expectations for this plac and ended up very disappointed. ive struggled with persistent hormonal acne for over 5 years and went in with hesitation of getting on birth control/meds. Mellisa miauo seemed to be understanding of this and I thought I could trust her. I was then prescribed a low dose of acne medication by her. I asked about any potential side effects and was only told about very minor common symptoms. I told her I have a history of depression/anxiety and she assured me that I had nothing to worry about. 1-2 months later I am in one of the worst episodes of depression I have ever experienced. It got so bad, I had to see a psychiatrist who was the one to tell me that the acne meds I was prescribed are in fact actually worsening my mental health significantly . 4 months later, 250$ down the drain to feel even worse than when I first came in the office. I had been a patient for a good number of years and always had great experiences. The PA Erin was exceptional and couldn't have been more professional. I tried another Schweiger location and it was an absolute disaster. I recently returned here and was told I had skin cancer and needed a Mohs treatment. I needed to cancel due to my having Covid, when I went back the place was a mad house and when I was finally brought in after waiting 45 minutes beyond my scheduled appointment time, the assistant said you're here for a full body scan. I replied that I had one previously and was led to believe I was having a Mohs procedure, she just looked at me blanked face. This is after having the receptionist telling me I was there for a consultation. I decided for my own well being and not feeling comfortable I told them to disregard. It appears that since it became Schweiger it's just all about the numbers. I always accepted the scarring from my previous Mohs treatment and now am wondering if they could have done a better job. I'm now finding a new doctor and having them review all my previous treatment at the Hackensack location. I wouldn't go here if my life depended on it, place has gone way downhill. read more

(I am now posting this same review for Schweiger Dermatology Group, it's Hackensack Medical Plaza location.) Upon entering the exam room, Dr. Goldberg greets you with a very warm smile and comforting words which is exactly what the patient needs to see and hear when Moh's Micrographic Surgery is utilized to prevent the spread of skin cancer. Dr. Goldberg's style is gentle, smooth and understanding. He first explains what his plan of care is before starting any procedure. This, unto itself, serves to provide the patient with trust while maintaining a calm, nurturing environment in the exam room. While we are all aware that numbing the area of the lesion is necessary, Dr. Goldberg's style is unique when applying pain relief injections. With over 30 years of dermatological experience, those skills become very evident as Dr. Goldberg proceeds with the various sequencing of tissue removal in accordance with Moh's surgery. Clearly, there is a difference, in a positive way, in which Dr. Goldberg utilises his skills as opposed to those of other Moh's physicians. Keeping with the science of Moh's Surgery, Dr. Goldberg's goal is to only remove suspect tissue, thus minimizing, to the greatest extent possible, any unnecessary pain, discomfort, and loss of healthy tissue. In the end, the patient is presented with only the smallest incision necessary to accomplish the overall objective. I give Dr. Lal 5 stars for helping my daughter with her acne. Unfortunately, he left the medical group. My daughter was scheduled to meet Dr. Cicon for her second visit. He was there but never showed up to examine her. We waited an hour and then got a practitioner which is not who we scheduled an appointment with. I needed to see a dermatologist for my eczema since my previous one didn't fit my schedule. I arrived at the office for my 9:20 AM appointment on 9/16. Being unprepared, I had a rough morning and couldn't remember where I left my referral at. The ladies at the front desk were very polite and they said that I could call my doctor's office to fax it and I would be seen right away. I was taken to the room in under 30 minutes. Right away the doctor (Dr. Lolis) came in after the PA and I told her everything that was wrong with my skin. She gave me recommendations about skincare that I should use. I told her about the otc allergy pills that I was taking and she suggested that I should use a different one as those would be stronger than the ones I'm taking. She prescribed me a couple of refills of ointments and creams and I was out in an instant! I made sure to stop by the desk to get a parking pass. Overall, successful visit and I'll be making an appointment soon when I need to. read more

Ok, so I give them 4 stars. I needed a growth removed, wanted a doctor to do it, not a PA, and that is just what I got. Had the initial appointment, and it was crowded. I waited a bit and saw the doctor for about 8 minutes, so mostly I was waiting to get into the exam room, and waiting in the exam room, but over all, it wasn't as bad as some places where they chronically overbook. I had to wait 2 weeks for the removal b/c of insurance, scheduling, etc., but they did text me that there was a sooner appointment but by then I couldn't change it with work, etc. The removal was pretty cut and dry, the assistant and the doctor were very precise and as quick as possible, the doctor advised it wasn't a cyst, but perhaps a lipoma, and it would be tested, and I would come back for stitches removal. I didn't wait too long between arrival and removal, so that is good. I returned for stitches removal and was met with I'm assuming a nurse or PA, and she was very friendly; she advised that it was indeed a lipoma and benign. I was also able to make the appointment earlier that day due to weather and having been in the area, which was a plus to me that they were accommodating. The place is very large, and you can struggle finding their office because it used to be called something different before it merged into Schweiger and the old sign is still up. I didn't care for the advertising of facials and skin care line, but that's just me. It seems difficult these days to find a dermatologist office where they are less about "beauty" and "cosmetics" than they are about actual skin ailments, growths, and diseases, and the aesthetic aspect of Schweiger is a little off-putting to me, but on the other hand, I needed a growth removed, I was taken seriously, and everyone there was very pleasant. I'm surprised that the ratings for this office are so low because I really love this office and its staff. I've been seeing Amy Tank (Physician Assistant) here monthly since October for chronic cystic acne. She's extremely personable, and thanks to her recommendations, my skin is clearing up very nicely. I've only been here on Saturday mornings, but I've never had to sit in the waiting room for longer than 10 minutes and it's usually a quick in-and-out follow up appointment. Despite the short appointment length, Amy doesn't rush me out and she always answers all my questions. I highly recommend her! read more

I came here last year about my hair loss and I saw Erin Courtney and she recommended me to use Rogaine, 8 months later I saw no results went to see her again this year and she performed a scalp biopsy and once I got results back she said my only option was to go back to Rogaine (mind you I told her it wasn't working) or to take nutrafol, almost 6 months taking those pills I saw no results. I just recently went to see a different dermatologist at a different Schweiger location and he was so helpful. I explained to him everything and he couldn't believe that the first dermatologist I saw even recommended me Rogaine and how I had no other options. He prescribed me on some meds. He made me feel comfortable and was determined to help me. I wasted $435 this year on nutrafol for it not to work. If you are going through hair loss DO NOT GO TO HACKENSACK. I visited Dr. Goldberg at this office on June 19, so that he could examine two spots on my left cheek. He took a biopsy from one of them, and his nurse Mabel applied Vaseline and a spot adhesive bandage to the site, saying I should change the bandage daily and reapply Vaseline. She said I had to keep the site from scabbing over. When I awoke the next morning, I went to remove the bandage before taking a shower - it had fallen off during the night. After reapplying the Vaseline and another bandage, I called the office, concerned that this might already have affected my healing. I left a voicemail message, asking for guidance and reassurance in this regard. I called at least two additional times, and only received text acknowledgements in reply. On the 21st, an exasperated-sounding staff member left me a voicemail, repeating the initial instructions. I was told to call the office two weeks after my appointment with the doctor to get my biopsy results. I did on July 3rd, since the office was supposed to have been open. Again, the only reply that day was a text message with a link leading to a site where I could email the office. I did, posting that in most of the medical world, it is the doctor's responsibility to inform the patient of test results. It took until July 5th for someone to email a reply that the biopsy results were negative. In my opinion, this is not a patient-centered practice. The staff is not responsive to non-emergent inquiries, and would rather not contact a patient directly. read more

As a very reputable physician told me recently( which I found out too late ) , this practice merged and it is not what it used to be . unfortunately they just thrive on taking peoples money and making them believe cosmetic procedures are the end all be all. I have been going here for a few years because I have uncontrollable itching from head to toe where I end up in the ER to get itchin relie. This office gives me the runaround and will not let me see a real doctor only the nurse practitioners who do nothing. I made an appointment in the office last month with one of the doctors and later the same day I got a text canceling my appointment with no reason. AVOID! I had been a happy patient for over 2 years, but ever since the merger with Schweiger Dermatology last summer, this place has gone downhill. Some of their best doctors have left, and the new staff is AWFUL. The woman at the front desk is loud and rude (she yelled across the entire waiting room about a private procedure I had) and she didn't take the time to make note of what I explained to her, resulting in my being charged again for a treatment I already paid for. I recently had an appointment with the PA (since my favorite doctor left) and after being called into the room I was told by the nurse that I would once again have to pay for the procedure I already paid for. After explaining my situation and that I had bought a package, I was met with a shrug and told that there was nothing they could do and someone should have called me to tell me that my package was finished (which no one did.) I asked if they could tell me the dates when I came in (just in case it was my mistake and my package was actually done) and was rudely told "No. But someone will call you." I called the concierge service after leaving the office, and they were also confused and told me that I did in fact have another treatment left and that the receptionist had a note of this. The PA didn't even have the decency to even step in, and I was left having wasted my time and left with no explanation as to why the office wouldn't honor what I paid for and couldn't tell me the dates they claimed I had come in. After 2 years of being a patient, I will NOT be returning. They will gauge you for money and are overall shady with a rude and unprofessional staff.
