I found this place by accident looking into places nearby for an overnight visit and walking. No…read moreone in Munich mentions this place and it's one of the largest forest areas in Germany. It's beautiful in here and you can walk for hours on end in quiet peaceful forest. It's also not well known so not that many people about. We were here on Labour day holiday and there was no more than 50-100 people in the area walking or cycling. We had the forests almost all to ourselves. There are multiple lakes in the area and also a few stops for meals and drinks along the way. A beautiful part of the country so close to Munich and far less people than going to places near the alps. I will definitely come here again. It's reachable by S Bahn and not too far from the town center of Ebersberg where the train comes into. If you like tall wooded forest you will like it here. It's so quiet and peaceful as you walk through the forest.
