Mom and stepdad frequent this spot each visit to Madison. They always plan a visit to eat lunch or dinner and always make room for Scoops Ice cream. This is a local favorite. Many times you will see a line out there door. This shop is located in downtown Madison on the Main Street. They have lots of Ice cream flavors and sherbet too for us non dairy folk. Service is nice. The last ti we came in on a Saturday, pretty busy evening and the kid was by himself. That's a lot for one person. My mom is snob when it comes to ice cream and this wins her over every time!

Although it was a cool December day, I saw this ice cream shoppe was open, so I had to check it out! There was a small counter selling flavored popcorn on my right as I entered. Farther back was a long cooler with tubs of frozen yogurt and ice cream (lots of flavors), and a few tables on the left for visitors to enjoy their purchases while getting off their feet. I was greeted and offered samples to try before selecting. (Always a bonus option!) After trying a couple flavors, I settled on the Blackberry ice cream in a bowl. The flavor was really good, the ice cream cold and creamy, and the portion was generous for the price. There isn't any 'wow' factor when you walk in...just really good ice cream. Maybe that's good enough! Review #3402

A quaint little storefront in downtown Madison with a couple seats inside and outside. They have 32 flavors but nothing too crazy or that I hadn't heard of before. They portion sizes were reasonable came a way with 1 regular scoop in waffle bowl, two regular scoops in a bowl, and two kids scoops for around $13. Not bad! I picked the moose tracks and was pretty happy after my long hike in the park. P.S. they also have a variety of popcorns to choose from. I sampled some but did not end up purchasing. I'd come back!

I had the blueberry cheesecake ice cream and it was amazing! My husband had the Buckeye ice cream and pistachio. The Buckeye was really good with mini buckeyes all throughout it. They also sold a bunch of different kinds of popcorn, and fudges. We tried the Butterfinger fudge--it wasn't as good as I would have thought, but I should not have been eating it anyway. The ice cream scoops are really big, FYI. Perfect for a hot summer day though. The place was packed.

Cone was so top heavy with i very cream my dad needed a cup with his cone! Mmmmmm

Ate some delicious ice cream on Oct 13 while staying in Madison during an unseasonably warm spell. Talking with the owner as he scooped my generous portions of ice cream I found out his wife was in the back making coffee ice cream as we talked. (I inquired if they had that flavor) My dad and I both had two huge cones of scrumptious ice creams. This is a great family owned/run shop. Perfect way to top off a stroll along the river on a warm sunny day while enjoying a huge ice cream cone.

The place to go on a hot day. The usual small town ice cream shop. Big scoops and fair prices. Not too many places to sit indoors, great outdoor seating if it's not too hot. Wonderful selection of ice cream flavors and other sweets.

After tromping around Madison all day with kiddos, we stopped in for some ice cream. We were greeted with a fresh aroma of fudge and popcorn. The young lady behind the counter was very courteous but focused as she dished up one dish at a time to the growing line. We lined up and tried to decide on what ice cream we would pick. Many options ranging from vanilla to things that I'd never heard of. The fudge and popcorn looked good as well but we will have to visit again for those. Of course my daughter landed and the rainbow yogurt while I picked a raspberry cheesecake yogurt. I opted for a waffle cone but the waffle bowl was a close second. Ice cream in tow, we headed outside to enjoy the fresh air and patio seating on the sidewalk. The ice cream was very creamy and loaded with flavor. It didn't take long to realize it was a hit with my daughter also. We will stop in again if we make it back to Madison.

Schimpff's Confectionery is a very good, old-timey candy store. However, while I can't say their ranking as #1 best candy store in America in 2025 by USA Today is undeserved.
