I showed up with my own paddleboard and had a great time exploring the Long Island Sound from Walnut Beach. They also rent bicycles. They have a cute little shop right near the water. Scoot & Paddle was great. We were looking for activities to do with our nieces/nephews during this summer heat and this was perfect. We rented the kayaks and stayed on the water for a little under an hour. The kids enjoyed it a lot! The staff was very friendly, accommodating and patient (took us like 15 minutes to get out because of bathroom breaks and other instructions for the kids), especially Jax who was our kayaking guide! Our hour on the tandem kayak felt like we were on vacation! I recommend calling for a reservation so you can jump right into it! The process was super easy. Call and schedule your time. Show up 10-15 min early to sign a waiver and get your gear. Then enjoy! Staff was helpful and friendly...told us which way the wind and current were going, etc. It is located next to Walnut Beach. So it's nice to paddle out and watch the beach goers. I imagine you could go to Charles Island from the side but as newbies to sea kayaking we wanted a relaxing time. An hour was plenty for us, but next time maybe individual kayaks for longer is a good option. We didn't bring a watch so we were kind of just floating out there, but our body clocks must have know because we arrived back on shore just in time. I got an urge to go kayaking today so we called ahead and made a reservation, nice and easy. They did ask us for our credit card over the phone, but that's fine. The GPS brings you right to the water, so if you go, it's actually a store on the street as you walk to the beach. We went onto the beach first to the tent where you get the kayaks, but the guy said "Oh you need to go to the store first." We walked back (it's not far) and checked in. The store area is very small/cramped but we didn't have to spend much time in there. We signed our waiver, they took our small belongings to put into a locker (yes!) and gave us lifejackets and paddles. Took maybe 4 minutes, tops. Prices seemed okay too - $26 for a tandem kayak for an hour rental. We went back down to the tent at the beach and were given the kayak which the owner dragged down to the water for us. He helped both of us get in and gave us a quick refresher since I'd only been kayaking once, a few years ago. He pushed us out and we were on our way. It was an ideal day for kayaking - warm, occasional breeze, quiet on the water. We kayaked down the shoreline a bit, and then out into the sound and then back in. We were a little early - BRING A WATERPROOF WATCH! Our phones were stowed in our car so we couldn't tell the time so we guessed and came back about 15 minutes early. We could've gone out again but I was okay being done a little early. Overall we had a good experience. I'd rent kayaks from here again but we'd also want to check out other places along the shoreline as well to compare. Staff was pretty friendly. read more

The day of we walked up, filled out release forms and got right in to our kayaks and paddle boards. It was a beautiful day to explore the water and a great way to finish out a vacation. Rented a kayak at their new Derby location. Staff was very helpful and friendly. Kayak was in great condition. The lake was calm with just a few boats. They allowed my daughter to launch her own kayak for just $5 and assisted where needed. Loved every minute of it! Will definitely be back to attempt stand up paddle boards very soon!! read more

Myself and 3 friends made reservations for a Stand Up Paddleboard Yoga 8am class. We were instructed to arrive at 7:30am. No one arrived to teach the class, no one called to inform us, and no one answered our phone calls when we called to question why no one showed for the class. We waited for the store to open at 9am, still no one was able to answer why the instructor did not show. The employees were unable to contact the manager and so after an hour and a half, we left. I had gone out to go paddle boarding near Scoot and Paddle. I was using my own equipment (paddle board, life jacket, oar, etc). It was my first time using them at the beach. The guys working at Scoot and Paddle helped me get on my board and gave me a mini lesson on how to use the oar and how to sit and stand on the board. They didn't charge me anything. I've rented SUPs here multiple times and can't help but get frustrated at the time it takes to get service here. So much so that I've considered buying my own SUP. It's local though, the area is nice, and the prices are decent. The equipment itself is in good condition and the SUPs are great for beginners. I'm interested in trying a scooter or tandem bike one day. It looks like they offer a bunch of interesting classes and events as well. read more

Really easy rental experience. The rental place has a small bathroom and has lockers for valuables you don't want to keep in your car. As a first time kayaker, I was sort of worried but the people sending us out said I shouldn't worry at all. And I really didn't have to. There's an island that's visible around 30 mins paddling away that you can reach so it's nice to bring a small picnic if you want. Warning though, it is a Shelly shore so would advise on keeping your flip flops on. read more

Service here was very good. You could tell that the young boy at the front was new and told us certain things about our experience that the girl next to him had to correct him on. The girl, however was great and very friendly. Her grandfather, I believe his name is Laurant, helped my boyfriend and I get set up with our Sups and (although it was just a rental and not a lesson) he taught my boyfriend how to get up and stay up until he felt comfortable. I ended up cutting my foot and they were very quick to ask if I needed a first aid kit and were very willing to help. Definitely would go back and highly recommend!! read more

They strung me along by saying they would order it and it would take 1 week. I have family coming in from CA and I wanted to give them nice Milford t-shirts. Today, my 6th attempt to confirm it was ordered/or received and awaiting my pickup, I'm told they need a minimum order of 50. WHY DIDNT THEY TELL ME THIS FROM DAY 1?????? This is the second time I have rented from this business and both times have been very pleased. My family rented 3 scooters and 2 paddleboards this past 4th of July weekend from this business. We were extremely pleased with the quality of both - equipment was new and in good working order. The service was excellent also. They took reservations over the phone and then were very accommodating. It was a busy holiday weekend but they treated us well giving good instructions on how to use the equipment. A plus.
