I have always loved Scotland House whenever we visit Williamsburg. This morning, I was going to purchase the Classic Aran Crew Neck Fisherman Sweater, which was on sale for $127.46. Before putting the item into my cart, I clicked on the hyperlink for "Shipping" for their shipping policy and saw that items over $75 are shipped free (see screenshot). However, after adding the sweater to my cart, I then I realized that I was going to be charged $13.95 for shipping (see second screenshot). I honestly do not understand how a business can advertise free shipping within their shipping policy for orders over $75 and then charge $13.95 for an order that costs $127.46. Clearly this is an issue that needs to be addressed to avoid false advertising. read more

My husband was so excited to go in this store. He loves things Scottish. Everything in the store was just so unique. I loved the coats, ponchos and the cologne for men. Things can be pricy, but the items are high quality. This trip we were just window shopping. The male employee was so kind. He interacted with our kiddos telling them about the jewelry the counter top. The store was clean, cool and well put together. A lot of good conversation happens here too read more

I've come to the store many times, and they have a lot of cute, high-quality clothing items. I generally do more browsing than buying, but I also signed up for their mailing list and ordered something when they were on sale. The sweater arrived really quickly, sizing was off (because of my ordering) but they were really friendly to exchange. It's a small business so it's calling up and arranging, but everyone was very friendly and helpful that I talked to. The time for me to ship it back and get a new size was very reasonable. And I love my sweater, it's so soft, I can't wait to wear it in winter. They have a great selection in person and online, and the clothes are a good value for the price. I don't always buy, but I do always walk in and browse when I'm in the area. read more

I always poke my head in this store and walk around while in Williamsburg. I love their unique Scottish decor and clothing inside. Where else can you go and find a mug for almost any old Scottish name/clan and also shop for legit kilts and pageboy hats?! I may be wrong, but I believe this shop has been here for a very long time in some capacity. I remember being about 15 and obsessed with Buffy the Vampire Slayer where Angel gave Buffy a Claddagh ring as a symbol of devotion. My cousin and I found them here (they're still here) and she bought me one as a birthday gift. I loved and loved that ring and wore it for years! They have some very pretty items and some nice Celtic jewelry inside. read more

I do love the atmosphere of this store. From the colors and selection, to the smell. They really have something for everyone. I loved their selection of hats, and the knights armor was very cute! That being said, I wish I was noticed when I needed assistance finding a jacket for my husband. There was a man working that was quite literally sleeping while he was standing up. He seemed disheveled and quite incoherent, and I didn't want to scare or disturb him, so I left. I'll come back at another time during my vacation, hopefully this is just a one-off experience but it left me with an unsafe feeling, not because of the atmosphere but because I didn't want him to fall and hurt himself. read more

Scottish House is a great gift shop to find personalized mugs and pins of Scottish names. The clothing is like a boutique. The silver jewelries on the glass case are elegantly made. Highly recommend a visit. read more

Look, I don't want to be "that guy," but it is what it is. It's in a tourist area of historic Williamsburg, Virginia. So, like any tourist joint, their prices are gonna be high. Notice I didn't use the phrase "tourist trap"? Because it's not like a restaurant with no other options akin to traditional tourist traps, it's a unique place with unique apparel. As a resident of nearby Newport News, Virginia, I specifically sought them out. Though they can't be described as a true "haberdashery," they did have a nice hat selection. That's what I was after, a new "Irish flat cap," if you will. Some folk refer to them as "newsboy hats." Whatever, I don't care what they're called, but finding a store with a nice selection can be a tall order. Nevertheless, that's why I was there. Yes... they have a decent selection, but holy goodness! Their most inexpensive hat was 79 bucks and a lot of them were in the 150 range. Now, for some I suppose that's chump change. But for this guy? I just can't drop a C note on a hat. If you have no issue with those prices, give 'em a go. Cheers! read more

I give it two stars because it's a cute store, however... I was in the back of the store where they had a 50% off sale and asked the young girl who worked there if the scarves were wool. She said yes they are. When I got to the hotel, looked at the tags, and the scarves I bought were 100% acrylic! Maybe she didn't know but she should have checked before answering. I was so excited to stumble upon Scotland House in Merchant's Square over the weekend! It was like stepping into a standard gift shop straight out of Scotland or Ireland. It was stocked with all the standard wool products -- scarves, hats, gloves, coats -- plus a wide variety of other items. I laughed at the "I can't keep calm, I'm Irish" shirt and had to buy it for St. Paddy's Day. It's silly but also too perfect for me (and yes, I am Irish so it's authentic). I also bought a bottle of perfume from the Windsor Castle area. Apparently it's made in a shop down the block from the castle. I'm sure I've walked right by it in the past! (If it's on the way to the bus depot, at least.) I'd say this is a great spot for gifts, but it's also a shop-in-moderation spot. Their prices are quite high, which is to be expected for all the imported goods. That can't be cheap! I love that this shop exists, and I'm sure I'll stop back one day. read more

Do not buy/pay for anything that they do not have in stock! Been waiting three months for items purchased in early November 2023 and still getting the run around. I've had to call 2x to ask where the things I purchased are and the time frame for delivery, which I also paid for in advance. They are now offering to refund my money, which is an absolute hassle and not acceptable. read more

I was in need of some last minute shoes I got them and about 10 other things. Salesman stayed with me the whole time to find things my wife and family might like. If what you want is not there they will definitely order it and let you know when it comes in. Didn't want to leave felt like I was back in Scotland. read more

I loved this store, they have some beautiful items and over the years I have done lots of shopping in there and recommended it to several people. Today I had a very disappointing interaction when one of the employees made a very rude comment about my son (who is disabled) behind my back not realizing I was standing behind him. He just laughed it off as I made my presents known, gathered my things and left the store. Another man did come outside to apologize which I appreciated but the man who made the comment never made any apology. If he did, I wouldn't feel the need to say anymore about it. Unfortunately I won't be shopping there anymore. If they can insult children and talk behind their customers backs, who knows what they say about the rest of their clientele. read more

The staff is awesome and selection is amazing. Found a hat I love, which is rare, and a staff member had an awesome idea for a birthday present for my dad. There are some absolutely beautiful trinkets and clothes and many were made in Ireland, Scotland, or Wales. read more

When we moved to Williamsburg, I was ecstatic to see that there was a local Scottish store. I was the state commissioner for my clan society for more than a decade, so I have been heavily involved with Scottish cultural events in the US for quite some time. MOST of the staff at Scotland House are wonderful and very helpful. However, the reason that I withhold giving a fifth star is that there is one older lady who sometimes works there who alternates between being slightly rude and down-right insulting. I went in today to buy some kilt hose and flashes for an upcoming event, but she was so offensive that I simply left. My wife has said that she has also had the same experience with this woman in the times that she has been in to get gifts for me. Hopefully, the owner of the store will address this woman's attitude. As it is, if I go in and see her working that day, I will take my business elsewhere. read more

Scarves, coats, ponchos, capes, hats, flat-caps, ties, sport jackets, hunting/outdoor coats, etc. from various British Isles manufacturers. They also carry a limited number of accessories, jewelry, and fragrances for both men and women. The selection, overall, is quite good if you're looking for woolen wear. They stock a wide selection of various styles, and in most sizes. Jackets in houndstooth tweeds, stylish plaids, and heathered solids cover two aisles. Ladies' sweaters, cardigans, hats, coats, and jackets take up one side of the shop. Clothes range from classic elements to more modern takes on those pieces. The staff are friendly and helpful if a bit fussy, albeit well-intentioned. Prices are on par with other higher end apparel stores. And on an unexpected cold, rainy Virginia evening, a good wool coat might be just what you need. read more

I went into the shop to special ordered a kilt in my Clan's tartan. It came from Scotland and was well made. It's the second kilt I've owned (the first I purchased in Scotland several years ago) and I was pleasantly surprised with the quality and price. Lots of other Knick Knacks from the UK and Ireland as well. Staff was quite helpful and a pleasure to deal with. The location is great but parking can be a challenge unless you're on foot. read more

Left the store without spending a penny. Staff were exceedingly rude, treating me as though I had somehow come begging. Because I was wearing sneakers? A great store with a wide variety of goods to peruse. They feature clothing, jewelry, knickknacks, and even perfume. I purchased a Harris Tweed jacket for my dog. I wish my husband would wear a kilt but his family is from England so I don't think that will be happening anytime soon. The merchandise is of high quality, so don't expect any bargains. The prices are very high on some items, but then again the clothing is imported and well-made. It's the antithesis of Walmart. The staff is friendly and helpful. It's a pleasure to buy these authentic items and see "made in Ireland" or "made in Scotland" instead of other places we have been with "made in china" crap. Visiting the shop is the best way to find what you want. The webpage leaves much to be desired. Just about any tartan can be found, and if not in stock, they make an honest attempt to find a source for the item. Pleasant place to browse, and attentive staff make it very worthwhile. One tartan hat, three neckties, and four scarfs. Made wonderful gifts. Too bad the webpage doesn't show all of the merchandise, as I would like to order more, but will have to wait for another trip and visit. read more
