You have to stop here if you watch HGTV Home Town with Ben and Erin. A lot of woodworking stuff just beautiful wood oils and stains. T-shirts kitchen wares Large refrigerated room full of all different kinds of soda pop. Ben's workshop is there and thats were they record the segments from their TV show Hometown from. Also a shop called Big Ben's & Cones ice cream soda and Ben's own coffee called Big Ben's. There's an outdoor park like place fenced in with astroturf with table and chairs. A train track runs right next to his shop. What a fun place. The employees were very friendly and helpful. read more

This store is so inviting. I stopped here on our Bolton Home Tour and again later that same afternoon for a longer visit. My mother and I are fans of the Home Town show and had to see Scotsman General Store for ourselves. The outside is so nice with plenty of parking and a good photo op with the blue pickup truck. The inside has a glass window that let's you see into the wood shop. They were not filming at the time we were there but it would have been so cool to see. There is lots of merchandise in the store to choose from such as shirts, puzzles, mugs, and of course wood cutting boards and trays. I made sure I snagged a magnet and some wood oil to take care of my cutting board. Everything was priced well and nothing was extremely steep. There is a snack counter next door and an outside hangout area with lawn games. Make sure to take the stairs outside that go up to the roof. There is a huge photo op area and a great view of the train rail and of downtown Laurel. read more

The Scotsman is Ben Napier's store from the hit TV show HGTV, Hometown. If you're lucky, you can sometimes see them in the woodworking shop during filming. He has some selection products, that he made for purchase and as well as Scotsman related items too, including houseware and accessories of sorts. Of course, it being handmade and with the brand prices are high but the quality is even better!! If you're thirsty and hot, go next door and grab ya a snowball and look at the beautiful laurel mural. There is parking directly in front with a handicap ramp as well. The store is just minutes from The Scent Library and Laurel Mercantile. The staff is very friendly and helpful. read more

We were headed back home and wanted to stop into Laurel because of the Hometown show on HGTV! I'm so glad we stopped into this town. Such a cute area! This store has snacks, shirts and some good groceries for southern cooking. This was probably my COOLEST stop. I was there around 11:30am on a Friday morning and didn't realize they were ACTUALLY FILMING for an episode of Hometown. Scotsman was my first stop in Laurel and it was a good decision to park there and then walk around. There's so much to see within 5-10 minutes. It was nice to sit outside and hear the train pass by as I took in my environment. There was a cool mural/photo op on the deck of this location. Highly recommend checking it out if you can! read more

This place is so neat! I loved coming here and getting to see this store with all the neat candles and gifts inside. You can also see the workshop on the side through the huge windows. Everyone who worked here was super friendly. Definitely worth a stop. All the candles smell amazing and they have a large variety of candy which is a win for my kids and myself for our long hurricane evacuation road trip! read more

What a great stop! Everyone that worked there was very helpful. Not only was there all kinds of merchandise to buy from things to do with your garden to foods to clothing etc.... But there was a window where you could look into Ben's workshop. That was worth the whole trip! Make sure you taste one of Ben's coffees-it was so delicious I bought a bag. My husband enjoyed the cold storage where you could pick out old fashion sodas. This was a great place... May have to go back tomorrow. read more

Had fun visiting and shopping at the well known Scotsman General Store & Woodworking. After try to spot a glimpse of Ben in the shop, take a bunch of pictures, we shopped in the store. Now, a bit of a shift in the review... we bought one of the "Soberdough" brew bread mixes to try. Wow! It was simple to make and tasted great! We travel full time in a RV. The instructions were spot on and the bread was simple to cook in our convection oven. We had fun at the store but will be going by again before we leave town to pick up another bread mix along with another bread board! read more

Very nice people fun place to shop and see all the stuff that was made. Very pricey but a lot of the products are real leather handmade, and the cutting boards and other wood items were all handmade and done so well. We had a good time despite the crummy weather. read more

My granddaughters love the Hometown show on HGTV and we promised them we would check out Laurel while we were staying in Ocean Springs. So we had to go to the Scotsman General Store where Ben's workshop is located. The store has different items for sale including the butcher blocks that are made there. No one was working in the shop that day but I took a picture anyway. They also have a cooler with a lot of nostalgia cola offerings that was interesting to see. There's a snowball shop connected to it and a couple of food trucks. It's also expensive. read more

I am a big fan of Home Town and the Napier's so I was visiting Laurel and stopped into the store. I expected it to be bigger but it had a nice selection of goods. And you could see into Ben's woodshop. He was not there but you could at least see where the magic happens. I also got a snowball at the snowball stand. I did pina colada and pineapple flavors. The ice was nicely shaved and the flavors were tasty. I nice cold treat for a hot day. They have a nice sitting area outside. read more

This stop was as expected with cool t shirts and miscellaneous overpriced items. The coolest part for us was the ability to see inside the workshop with the plexiglas wall separating the store and the shop. Staff were friendly on the two occasions we went there. The outdoor area was a plus for our kiddos and the second floor scenery was awesome. A perfect photo spot! read more
