I was enjoying my viola so much, I wanted to see if he perhaps had a violin in the same class.

The range I saw was from sale items at 49.99 up to 200+, they have a good, moderate amount of choices at each level, with different brands and accompanying acessories! My ukelele is a soprano, a great beginner ukelele I was practicing with, got it for $75 with tax and a carrying bag included in my purchase, if I remember correctly, tag price was $69.99 I did ask if there was something similar to a brand/type of ukelele I started my practice with but I was then getting sold onto the more expensive pieces that I didn't have experience with and didn't ask for so that was a miss for me. Wish I got more of a relevant recommendation but the workers were sweet, they let us browse by ourselves for a good amount of time before stepping in (which good for me because I needed time to think, compare, and browse). When we went, there were a handful of other customers inside the store, it's located in a small shopping center but the store is bigger inside than it appears on the outside. The parking situation was just okay, not bad, could use a tad bit more space, we went ~1p the parking lot was full minus 2-3 spots but I noticed cars came and went from the time we got there until we left so it seems like there's a couple spots free at any given time due to the traffic coming in and out for small errands. Lots of instruments and accessories to be found inside and the workers seem to be happy to help find what is needed! Pretty well organized inside to find what you need on your own though, I was able to find the ukeleles quickly.

He quickly diagnosed the reason my clarinet wasn't sounding. Not only did he repair the problem- the same day! - but he replaced or reseated some of the pads and gave the instrument a thorough "tune-up"; such that the clarinet plays and feels like a new instrument. In fact I don't believe it's ever played like this up to this point. This all at what I would consider a very reasonable price. In fact it was slightly under the estimate given when I dropped it off. Bravo Bob!

Haven't written a 5-star review in quite a while, but Quicksilver absolutely deserves it…read more My high school alma mater from back in the day was having an alumni concert in dedication and homage to the band director there who plans to retire at the close of the school year in a few weeks. Given that I played under him back in high school and enjoyed my time in band, I knew I had to be there. So I took out my trusty ol' tenor saxophone that hadn't been played in ages. It didn't take too long for muscle memory to kick in and for me to remember how to read music and play the instrument itself. BUT I still had a problem. Whenever I'd blow into it, I'd hardly get any sound unless I blowed very hard. I figured that, after all these years, the pads inside were worn out. Back in high school, for any work needed on my sax, I'd go to World of Music in Cupertino and West Valley Music in Los Altos. WoM ended up closing, but WVM was still nearby. However, I found Quicksilver from a simple Yelp search and read almost all great reviews, so off I went. Facts: * They're located in a small building on Imperial Ave in Cupertino. The only available parking is street parking, but you shouldn't have too much trouble finding a place to park. * It's a bit dirty and cluttered inside, but don't let that dissuade you. The guy who runs the business knows what's he's doing. * They , from what I could tell, don't accept appointments. I believe they're pretty much walk-in only. * The owner, Robert, is really nice and will look at your instrument on the spot. In my case, he looked at my saxophone and determined right then and there what was needed, how much it would cost, and how long it would take to be ready to be picked up. He did warn me that he, admittedly, isn't the best at calling customers when their instruments are fixed so to call him instead. I left my sax there for roughly one week. After the week had passed, I called and Robert said it was ready to go. All in all, I paid $196.15 for replacing worn out pads and a few other things that needed, but it was well worth it. The sax sounded so much better, and I was able to partake in the concert. Overall, if you need your woodwind or brass instrument to be repaired, this is the place. Robert is a G. He asked me some questions to assess what grade of violin I need (how long has it been since I played, how long did I play when I was playing, and what's my price range). Since I played the violin for 9 years I knew I wanted a moderately priced one and was prepared to spend at least $500. I had quality issues with cheaper violins in the past, and I came to the right place. He didn't have any super cheapies, and only one to offer at my price point. After I researched the violin I was happy to find that it was a higher end model for a lower end brand (Palatino is not a bad brand, per se, just not for professionals from what I have heard). I think it is in better shape than a Palatino from another store, because it was set up really well with a nice bridge. He included a case and some rosin and recommended a teacher for me after we spoke about how I want to get back to playing. He asked if he can share my contact information with the teacher and I was happy for the recommendation. I found the experience very informative and straight forward. He let me know about the 100% trade in policy, which is very attractive and I plan to use in a couple years to upgrade to a fancier German / Czech violin.

It may just be my luck, but it seems as though whenever I drop something off I get the "Peter will be out of town for a few weeks, he'll look at it when he gets back" talk from his assistant. This is perfectly fine, everyone needs a vacation! But it seems as though repairs slow to a halt when he's gone. My usual turnaround here has been 3-4 weeks. My last repair issue with him was extremely frustrating. I brought in a powered speaker that had more of a mechanical issue, which I displayed to him and his assistant multiple times. They claimed to replace the woofer but the problem persisted. On the 3rd try they replaced a random XLR connector and called it done, although the speaker still buzzes and rattles like crazy. It seems as though they gave up on solving the actual problem. Due to this failed repair attempt and overall slow turn around times, I won't be back.
