I was sold a policy that I was told was "great coverage". After some storm damage to the house and filing a claim, I waited weeks for an appraiser, made a pile of calls trying to get the appraiser there, given a bunch of excuses for him to show up and then he had have numerous reasons why nothing would be paid. The funniest part was when the appraiser admitted he couldn't even authorize payment, it had to go to someone higher up and the chances of anything getting paid were less than 10%. And for roof damage, the split my roof into 6 sections and I was told that 50% of the section would have to be damaged for replacement.... of only that section. I swear, he counted the total tiles of each section, then the damaged tiles and said that my damage was below my deductible (there's another scam) and I should "hire a friend that's a roofer and buy him some beer". Low rates at first then just steadily kept going up. If I had realized that they insured on bad faith (look up that lawsuit in Texas) I would have dropped them years ago. I was insured by Scott Goins agency for the last 10-12 years. I've always had my home and cars insured here with no claim activity. Most recently, I had four different vehicles, RV, and my home insured with them. As my insurance agent, I expect an advisory role which I'm offered the broadest coverage ensuring no gaps and then let me decide what is best. Rather, time and again, each policy period passes and we receive State Farm invoices, most notably with an increase in premium. When we needed to use our insurance, after a small accident occurred, I figured we had car rental insurance since I repeatedly was told we did. But Jadi, insisted like a broken record player that this was only if we rented a car. After going round and round, Jadi was still explaining herself in her monotone annoying voice how the car rental insurance works as if I am some foreigner who doesn't understand English. Additionally, when it comes to claims, this office is hands off. They send you to their magical 1-800 hotline to resolve your claim, at which time you are placed on hold for 30 -40 minutes before reaching an claim adjuster overseas who you barely understand. After this debacle occurred, we rightfully considered other options such as independent agents and thankful we did. We contact Busch insurance in Platteville and talked with Michelle. We were able to secure insurance with Auto Owners, at about the same price. After we were advised on coverages, we selected what was best for us. We also we're able to include life insurance for our two young children at about the same price as what we were paying with State Farm for just the home and auto. We found out after shopping our current State Farm coverage and rates, State Farm does not live up to their name. To make matters worse, when shopping my policy, I found out from the new agent that my home owners policy didn't even include water and sewer backup. This office is a joke-friendly yes, but not someone you want insuring your home or auto. So, after all the years working with this agency, with no claim activity, when it came time to helping us, and accepting they f'd up, Jadi could only respond in her unique annoying monotone voice, "sorry, I can't help you." Again, if you want an advisor and not an order taker, find an independent agent who will shop around and find the best options because State Farm and this office is not it. read more
