It would perhaps be fair to say that this little shop isn't the most salubrious of places. It's a little bit, dare I say it, tatty. However, it has a fairly good selection of groceries and necessities. It's also well placed to serve much of the residential Milngavie area. You wouldn't be able to do a substantial shop here by any means, but it is useful to pick up the occasional bits and pieces.

This is a highly convenient shop for all your last minute needs like bread, milk, nappies, alcohol…read more(before 10pm). It is located in Bearsden, not Paisley as Google maps insists. You can pay your bills there too as they have a pay point. They have a free cash machine although it sometimes doesn't work, but they take credit cards and switch so if you really needed cash they will give you cash back. It is handily located near a bus stop, so you can easily get change for the bus there. They also have a good range of kid's sweets as it's near a primary school too. The only things I would say are they are a bit over priced (that comes with being a convenience store I suppose), and the staff are a bit surly.

It has a pharmacy and optitions and a photo shop as well as a good selection of clothes in the George department. There is a large carpark and also a 24hr petrol station with a car wash.

This is the the 'little sister' of the bigger town centre store. In saying this it is still a good…read moresized supermarket and ideal for the weekly shop. The store is bright and modern and there is ample parking places, including disabled and child and parent spaces. it is the main shop in a little shopping complex also including a chemist, a tanning studio and a chip shop as well as a popular Chinese take away. I like this shop, especialy if I am in a hurry, because it stocks a good cross section of products which, because the store is smaller, what you want can be eaiser to find. It also tends to be less busy than the other Cumbernauld store making it quicker to get what you need. There is also a filling station at this location and both are open 24hrs. The staff in both are helpfull and polite.

Did I mention that all Asdas were huge? This one is even…read morevaster than the average Asda, and in case of Civil War, could easily become a centre for thousands of refugees. Ok, that'a bit silly, but you get the picture. There's an entire second floor devoted entirely to clothing and Asda's George range, and the downstairs is homeware, kitchenware, groceries and more. There's a very ample selection of foreign foods too, and this livens up the stale supermarket shop no end!

It's particularly good for reasonably priced work clothes and has become my go to place when I need a few new things on a budget. There's also good household and electrical sections where you can often pick up a bargain. I got a really great set of hair clippers for £10 a couple of months ago. The fresh food section is also very good, with a fish counter, an excellent cheese section and pizzas made to order. The fruit and vegetables are also always really great quality, lovely parsnips today! Staff are always friendly and helpful and there are plenty of options for when it comes time to checkout. The rest of the store is what you'd expect of a large Asda and the pay at pump petrol station and car washing facilities give any visit added convenience.

Beanscene, its predecessor, was looking increasingly run down so Groundhouse came promptly on the…read morescene (with an equally punny name!) and seems to be just what the coffee shop scene in Stirling needs. Welcomed warmly by some friendly faces, (many familiar from Beanscene!) it wasn't long till we sampled the smoothie menu before a spot of afternoon soup. My peach, mango and passionfruit smoothie was delicious, fresh and just what I needed to power me through hours of otherwise soul-destroying essay writing. Potato and leek trumps all the soups for me so I was delighted to see the soup of the day was none other than my favourite. I just had to indulge in a second lunch! (Has anyone ever said no to a second lunch?!) The result. - A lovely, creamy, heart-warmingly wholesome bowl of soup which certainly hit the spot. Despite some wi-fi connection hiccups to begin, Groundhouse made for a perfect afternoon study spot and is definitely somewhere I'd like to spend a lot more time.
