Made in Africa pop up shop. The place was well organized for the shop . Beautiful Prints . The outfits , the dresses , jumpsuits and other attire were colorful and well designed. Scott's Grand, named after the grandchildren of Scott, is a unique catering and reception hall in North Charleston. With a diverse range of events from parties to comedy shows to poetry nights, this venue offers entertainment for all types. In partnership with Craves Soul Food, there is an optional package for catering and beverage service. There is a bar structure, full kitchen, plenty of tables and chairs, a stage and sound system. Located in a strip mall with plenty of parking, it has added convenience. The staff is beyond warm. Their family spirit is very prevalent in their customer service. It is very warm and inviting. They do not have a liquor license, so events can go late into the evening as long as they are managed well. They typically book up on the weekends, but have opportunities in advance or weekdays. Went to a jazz event there and the food was great. The place was made up real nice from the Chef to the servers.

I went to a meal after a funeral. I had some trouble finding the location which is in a strip mall - the sign was small. It is not fancy, but the decorations were professional - I don't know how much of that was provided by the family/friends but the tables looked great. The food wasn't ready right away but it didn't seem too late. There was a buffet line. The macaroni and cheese, greens and fried chicken were very good. There was some peach cobbler served after the meal that was really delicious. The delivery of the peach cobbler to tables was a little slow but it was worth the wait for sure. I was offered some sweet potato casserole which seemed odd to me, but nice. I was too full at that point to partake. Overall, I was pleased with my experience here. read more

So I will continue celebrating my wedding day with pics this week, however I do want to caution the masses!!! Do NOT use Ragina Scott Saunders at Scott'sGrand or Scott's Grand period. This woman is unprofessional. When I say unprofessional I mean VERY! First of all she stated we had servers with our reception package & the do not allow outside bartenders. We had one elderly lady, 1 young boy, & 1 girl (who looked underage at the bar & had NO IDEA HOW TO MIXDRINKS). The week of the wedding I tried to finalize things with her, when I (THE BRIDE, THE PERSON PAYING aka THE CUSTOMER) got there we had a shouting match to the point where members of my party had to redirect her in her own establishment!! Instead of using customer service skills & listening to my complaints she became very defensive hostile & BELLIGERENT. My coordinator intervened & they got into a disagreement via the telephone (at the last minute I tried changing coordinators to ease tensions on the wedding day). The food that was served was old, dry, & cold!!! The menu she entered in her notes WRONG!!! When corrected by my father & myself (that's 2 people) she became combative & irate. The food that was served was still incorrect!!! We ordered roast beef & ended up with ribs. Slide show was supposed to play during the hour for the bridal party to go get pics (after being tested the night before) the projector was "malfunctioning" which I think was a form of passive aggressiveness since we had a disagreement on Wednesday. She got into verbal altercations at my reception with not 1, not 2, but 3 members of my family for offering to help the sole young boy she had serving. She got smart in the mouth, but what she didn't know is my people was sitting on GO to light her up. Out of respect for my wedding day they held their peace. I was told I as the bride can not contact the decorator (although I'm paying for him) bc he's her vendor. My wedding colors was supposed to be LAVENDER & I ended up with ROYAL PURPLE! I was specific about not wanting purple even hand delivering swatches to Ragina to give to the decorator. She also accused me of stalking the decorator's fb page bc I clicked like on his work (he's advertising dah)!!!! My guest who arrived for a 4pm wedding at 3:30pm was locked out in the July heat & humidity in Charleston!!! I can go on.....hold up! Oh, but wait!!! The best part is she tried to steal an SUV full of OUR alcohol that wasn't consumed by our guests. Cases of beer, wine, & alcohol she was trying to STEAL from us. Once I started talking to folks apparently this is the reputation Scott's Grand has for being unprofessional thieves. Please don't let your relatives fall victim like I did. Spread the word. I found out about this place after the fact. Everything was paid for since OCTOBER 2016!!! The only thing she was consistent about was receiving the 2 payments we made. She will promise you the moon & the stars to get your money. To contrast; I cancelled my location at the battery the day before due to the rain & thunderstorms, however that vendor still went out there & set up even trying to persuade me to still do the ceremony there. Scott's Grand is an awesome place to eat some down home southern food. I also like the fact that they are community minded and serve the community in several ways such as feeding the hungry and community fundraisers. They are also a great venue for weddings, birthday parties, graduation parties etc. Ra'Gina and her staff are very cordial and welcoming, and make sure that you enjoy the experience. read more

This place is a joke. Please beware. If you have an important event, dont book here. This place is unprofessional and is not ran smoothly. I was very disappointed. Before the venue received my money, they were very responsive. However, when I complained about EVERYTHING that went wrong and how I should be reimbursed, they ignored me after saying they would get back to me. The venue was dirty, lack of servers, food was disgusting, and food was late where my guests were waiting. Everyone in business is not about business. pay this company in full and they completely failed at my wedding reception, nothing paid for was in place and the food was not what we ordered as the menu ( just 3 pans of food) and it tasted absolutely horrible. not to mention we supplied our own alcohol and they tried to keep what wasn't used. so many of my guest complained about the service, they had one poor old lady trying to serve over 100 people, a young gentlemen who had to be at least 14-15 yrs old back baring , and a young lady who didn't look over 18yrs bartending. if you need to use this venue *** do not pay in full in advance **** your money will not go towards your event !!!!!!!!!!! I celebrated my 60th birthday party on May 26th, everything was lovely! I no longer live in Charleston, so most of the planning was done over the phone, Ragina was very helpful with everything which made it less stressful to plan. I plan to have my husbands retirement party there next year. So I highly recommend if your looking for a venue, this is the place to go. read more

Extremely disappointed in my experience. I found them to be very unprofessional. The owner wanted us to bring our food the night before and leave it which I refused to do. When I arrived to set up, she asked me to help her put the seat covers on the chairs and walked away for me to complete them by myself. The floor was not vacuumed. During our event they allowed people to walk through delivering food and other items for another event they were hosting later that day. I was asked to stop playing my music and move over so the DJ could set up his equipment for the next event. We were supposed to use their projector for a slide show; but the owner didn't have the cord required for use. Not to mention I spotted two roaches (not the palmetto bugs) in the back by the stage. Before this experience, I referred this place to another family for their upcoming family reunion. After our event, I retracted the reference and shared the experience we had with them. I really felt the owner should have given the girls that rented the space a partial refund because she just didn't deliver on everything she promised. read more
