The hall is glamorous with high ceilings and large windows. There is a bar area too. You can set the room up as you please. All the events I have been to here have food stations lining both sides of the hall. The staff here are wonderful and courteous. Service with a smile and very helpful should you have any questions. They went out of their way to help me. Enjoy your event in this lovely, lively hall.

The nice amenities, decent gym and friendly staff are what creates the environment for a pleasant experience. Two of these were met and the friendly staff, was mostly there. . .but one sour apple truly changed the course of our stay. Even my wife, who worked once upon a time in hospitality at Kiawah Resort, was started by the interactions from The Loutrel Hotel staff member. Long story short. The daily complimentary breakfast was served. I accidentally went to place the granola lid on the yogurt, my wife told me that was the wrong lid and I went to correct. From across the room the breakfast attendant yelled, "sir that doesn't go there." Startled, I immediately removed it and placed it accordingly. I laughed it off. Moments later I went to sit my breakfast down where my drink was located. Same attendant, "you're not even sitting at the right table with your wife." Again, my error, but don't call me out twice in one morning. It's a small lobby, so many staff members overheard the interaction. Nothing was done by other management. The next morning, I walked down to look at breakfast. I saw the same attendant and said, good morning. She looked at me but wasn't pleasant in her response. Unlike the rest of her colleagues at the restaurant who are polite and kind, the same customer service I expect and provide to my customers. Breakfast offered salmon with some type of eggs or shellfish. I can't eat shellfish, allergic. So, I went to grab a biscuit at a local coffee shop and a coffee. We came back to the hotel and sat our food down. The same rude attendant came over, nudged my wife in her back and said, "you can't have this here, cross contamination." So, I left. Allowed my wife to eat her yogurt in the area. Funny enough, my wife asked where the utensils were, because every table had them. Same attendant rudely, pointed to another table for her to get them. I should have just sat down and ate my food as I didn't see any signs for "no outside food." Either way, stay somewhere else. It's unfortunate that a hotel like this allows such rudeness from a staff member. I did report this to the manager, and online but was met with more passivity. Comped two nights of valet. Honestly, it wasn't enough. I would never stay here again and it ended the trip on such a sour note.

The staff was accomodating. Other than the grounds near the home, we didn't journey onto the distant grounds of the plantation. There's a nice lagoon on the property. The home is old and in need of restoration. There were probably less than 100 guests for the wedding. I believe the cost to reserve the plantation is around $5000. The wedding was held until a large tent. Bug spray was offered at the residence which is also where they set up the bar area. That didn't help when my wife found herself with over 30 noseeum bites the next day. For that many guests, they only had 1 bathroom plus a airplane size bathroom inside the residence near the very small kitchen area. Being the kitchen was so small, they couldn't prepare too much food. The staff did an excellent job trying to keep up with the hungry guests. This was my first Plantation Southern Wedding. It's now off my bucket list.

This was my first child to get married, and I had so much to learn! She helped me navigate the maze of event planning. She met with me several times, allowed me to do multiple walk-throughs, try out different ceneterpieces, etc. and was on-site with us the whole night - even the day after Thanksgiving! The space is lovely - dark wood, elegant furnishings and fixtures. Two beautiful rolling bars that were enormously helpful. Tables, chairs, bar stools all included. The view from the patio is stunning. If you're doing an evening event, make sure it includes sunset! We couldn't have been happier!

The scenery was lovely, the officiate was wonderful. The acoustics in the club were so bad that I couldn't talk to the people on either side of me. Others were the same and went onto the veranda to talk. The cake table, which for southern weddings is normally a huge focal point, was a table near the entrance to the bathroom, there was a tip jar at the bar. Let me explain; not only was that brought up at the initial meeting and assured it wouldn't happen but when the host is paying for the bar, no tip jars. The bartenders should be paid w/their salaries, the $200+ charged the host for each bartender and gratuity. If they aren't getting paid those 3 ways, that's between them and their employer. Then we went to get our car which was in a designated spot. The golf cart to take people to the parking lot 3 blocks down was parked perpendicular to the very back of my car even though there were two spots next to me totally available. I texted the number posted to get the driver - number blocked! When the owner, shuttle driver finally got there - he looked at me like what's the problem. He was also walking around the party all evening in a tee shirt and shorts. Not a look for a wedding reception. Before this owner, I have done 3-4 weddings there. I never had acoustical problems and never this slipshod work. I'm sure the couple will deal with the owner. These are just our experiences - AND the soft drinks were flat!

Today was a lighter day for me, with only a chef's salad with thick and delicious fried oysters. Others had a starter of she-crab soup, for which I kicked myself as I remember how outstanding that is, along with a side splash of sherry. Ah, well.
