The location is amazing. The interiors are as low key opposite of that as possible - think late 90s diner vibe. But the ocean is right in front of you so can't complain. Located on the Strand, Scotty's has a great view of the Pacific Ocean! It seems to be a family run restaurant. Breakfast was good , and ordered a Bloody Mary . The Bloody Mary was spicy as advertised and it seemed that the Vodka bottle was waved over the glass. Yea it seemed to be all mix‍. I'll get my drinks at a bar. Service was good. The waitresses were attentive enough yet when I asked for hot sauce it was like they went to make it , so I had to ask another server for the hot sauce. That's not gonna break my mood just part of the review. Again being on the beach with good food and mostly good service, come by Scotty's. Wait staff was nice and all but the food was not to memorable. It was great for after the beach when your hungry, it did its job. The reason this is a 3 star review vs 4 is because I ordered their caesar salad, which as listened on the menu had all the ingredients I liked. Upon arrival, my caesar salad had eggs and tomato inside which was not listened on menu alongside the rest of the ingredients. My friends sandwich also had mustard that wasn't listed. I didn't necessarily enjoy my food because of this and I would recommend asking a server what is in your dish before ordering because the menu either isn't up to date, or isn't accurate. I imagine this be dangerous for those with allergies so I advise u to ask! read more

This is a very casual restaurant located right on the strand in Hermosa. Soft rock plays in the background in this busy restaurant. Today was a rather overcast day but the beach and walking path was very busy. The light and clouds gave the day a darker mysterious feel but still beautiful look. Leslie was our server. She was friendly, thoughtful giving prompt & polite service. There is other staff also pursuing the restaurant to be sure your needs are met. The menu is casual beach food. We shared the Calamari and the Mediterranean Salad. The Calamari was crisp & yummy. The Mediterranean Salad was a delight of fresh spinach, red onion, chunks of various vegetables with feta cheese, your choice of dressing. The portions were generous. First of all the service was fantastic! This place has a beautiful view of the beach and we ordered mahi-mahi tacos and salmon tacos and their coleslaw is vinegar based no mayonnaise. Beautiful setting at the beach with great view of the sunset. Top notch service with a smile and really good honest recommendations (rare for any place these days). This is a very casual place so no need to dress up. Limited selection of wine and beer. They have a weekday happy hour that we didn't try with beer and pizza. We did have the grilled fish and chicken piccata, both of which were generous portions and delicious with sides of cole slaw and vegetables. This place is one of those old restaurants that I like to refer to as, "Sticky tables" no matter how many times they wipe the table down with the same towel that smells like mildew, your arms still stick to the table. This place was so dirty. The booths were old and grimy. The owner was sitting in a corner booth talking to people, as if, he was proud of this place. We only ordered potato skins. I will gladly order the coleslaw again with its tangy and sweet vinegar-based dressing but I wasn't as pleased with the fish tacos. Considering this place is an old cafe/diner, I did not expect the fish to be fresh. However, I did not expect the fish to have the freezer burn taste or spongy texture either. Today, we just had a big sit-down party at this restaurant, and booked their private party room on the second floor. Our guests were pleased with the food and hospitality. Venue/Room: It was a nice dining room for a private party, and it was spacious enough for all of our guests (about 45-50 people). We had an amazing beach view from the dining room. We could enjoy the sunset while eating our meals. There was a private restroom in this private party dining room, so we did not have to go downstairs to find a restroom. Very convenient! Food: The food was really delicious. First, we got some bread and butter served on our tables. The outer part of the bread was crispy, and the inside was soft. Next, we got Caesar salad in a giant bowl, followed by the main dishes. I chose the chicken parmesan, and it was really yummy. It came with penne pasta in orange cheesy sauce and some marinated steamed vegetables. The cheese sauce was legit. I think they used some aged parmesan cheese in their cheese sauces. They also put parmesan cheese powder on each table for the guests who wanted extra cheese. Service: The service was great! From the beginning to the end, they served us very well. All the servers were very nice and friendly. They always checked on every table, gave us boxes for leftovers, packed the extra food nicely, provided us bags for the boxes, and were willing to help cut and serve the cake we brought to our party. The cake thing was not in my original party plan when I discussed it with the owner, Vera, and yet the servers were very accommodating. Big thanks to the restaurant owner, Vera, who helped with the menu selections and the event planning (she answered all my questions and requests), and all the restaurant staff who served us tonight!! We waited awhile for our waitress to come which is fine we were in no rush when the server did arrive they took our order. However when it came time to bring the food that was a different story. The person assisting our waitress brought the food. We asked for ranch and they came back with it, however when we asked for ketchup for the fries and the malt vinegar for the fish and chips no one ever came back. We waited over 5 minutes for someone to come then we had to get up and find the server to tell them before they finally brought it. Service was spotty. Four girls on the floor. MAYBE ten tables and still the bus boy, Enrique was the only one giving us attention. Waited 25 minutes for dinner salads that weren't served until we asked for them which was basically the same time as the entrees came out. Not sure if she forgot or didn't occur to her to serve the salads first. But more than that was the chicken in the Fetuccine Alfredo which cost an extra $7. Totally inedible. Literally. Breast meat but all sinewy and muscle. Left 80% of it on the plate. No idea why the kitchen would serve it.
