Interestingly I ordered the rug at lunchtime on Wednesday and it was delivered at approximately 10.30 the next day. I cannot praise you enough and have told my colleagues at work how impressed I have been!

Daylight robbery and rubbish customer service from beginning to end. I ordered a rug worth £ 850…read morefor next day delivery (to be delivered on a Friday), only to be told AFTER placing the order it wouldn't be delivered until Tuesday because the rug was somewhere else. Fine. Tuesday comes and goes and nobody turns up (I paid extra to have it delivered by 10:30 am too, and not even this was refunded as a matter pf principle). I call them and they said oh ok, we'll deliver it tomorrow then !!!!!!! Anyway, it arrives on Wednesday and after unpacking it, I realized it was wrong for my living room so I phoned them to organize a return. The rug was properly rolled up tightly AND tied with string securely. I was not able to reuse the orignal packaging as this was a very tight plastic wrapping which you could only cut to be able to get the rug out Total con, now that I think about it. Anyway, long story short, they receive it and send me an email saying the rug was loose. soiled and not in sellable condition so I would not be refunded my money. Clearly this was a complete exaggeration AND not our fault given it was impossible to reuse their packaging and the courier must have slightly dirtied the sides. Absolute liars and ridiculous customer service. We called them and an idiot named Paul said to write an email stating the facts and he would speak about it to his manager so we did, only to receive in return a one liner email saying nothing has changed, we won't refund you. We even offered to have the rug cleaned professionally (and believe me, it could have probably been brushed off!) When my partner called to speak to the manager the idiot Paul said he wouldn't pass him the phone nor give him his name!!!!!! What kind of thieving operation is this?????? NEVER buy anything from these bandits.

    Persian Rug & Gift Centre

I first discovered the Persian Rug Centre about 8 years ago when I needed a new rug for a new house…read moreI'd moved into. Someone suggested 'the rug shop' in Selly Oak so I popped in on the off chance, I wouldn't go anywhere else now! This is not the cheapest place to buy a rug, in fact some of their prices are absolutely staggering, but the sheer quality and workmanship that has gone into each rug makes it well worth the money. You'll get your first taste of what to expect as soon as you look at the exterior of the shop, rugs are hung in the windows and also displayed outside in the drier months. The choice of rugs will draw you into the shop, and I defy you to walk away without buying anything! There is a good selection of modern and classically styled rugs, most with a definite Arabic design in a huge range of colours which will compliment any living room. The designs are stunning, some are simply patterned and others depict scenes from unknown books and texts. Absolutely beautiful. There are also a wide range of plain rugs from thick furry rugs to more basic woven works which are more towards the budget end of the range. I have bought seven or eight rugs from them over the years, both for myself and as gifts, and have never had cause to complain about anything. There are never any loose threads or bad stitching on any of the rugs and they are of the highest quality. I love the fact that there is such a wide range of sizes available as rugs are one of those things where one size definitely does not fit all, I had cause recently to look for a long thin rug for my mother in laws hallway and I found the perfect thing at the Persian Rug Centre whereas I have never before seen a rug with these very particular dimensions. You can expect to pay around £60 for the cheapest rug in here, which will probably be one of their plainer options, and prices will then rise according to the brand or thickness of the ruf you want to buy. I have seen rugs in here priced at £400 and £500, and these are absolutely stunning although just a bit over budget for me! The staff in the Persian Rug Centre are extremely knowledgeable about the rugs they sell, an Asian family who are always happy to chat to customers about the rug making traditions and will help you make an ideal purchase. I always feel that they are not forcing me into buying anything and on the odd occasion when I have not been able to make my mind up I have been urged to go away and think about it, a novelty these days as usually this kind of shop will keep you hanging around as they are so desperate for a sale! Next time I need a rug I will definitely be taking a trip to the Persian Rug Centre, I'm actually considering buying my sister a rug for Christmas as I'm sick of tripping over her tatty rag rug in the living room - I'm sure I can find something in this special little shop to suit her eclectic tastes!
