I live in Deerfield Beach, I'm a diver and I know there are a ton of dive shops in the area...thankfully. Recently my girlfriend purchased a Groupon for SCUBA Network's Open Water Dive Certification course...this was $179. Upon going into the shop to begin the process, we were informed that on top of the original Groupon purchase, there was an ADDITIONAL $260 to pay. This is for the PADI online course, wetsuit rental, purchase of an underwater writing tablet, and a boat dive. Do the math....thats $440 for a $179 Groupon. Now I know scuba diving is expensive, but surprising customers with $260 on top of the original purchase is wrong. There is no indication of extra $260.00 on Groupon. read more

I brought my Oceanic octo to them (they are Oceanic reps) to have them repair my reg. They recommended a new regulator which I agreed to ($$$). I also had them replace the low-profile buddy reg with like. When I picked-up my octo, they had replaced my buddy reg with the CHEAPEST one they sell -- not a low-profile as I requested. This is where they told me it would cost me more $$$ to get my octopus back in the condition I brought it to them. After paying them $$$, I take the octo home and discover they didn't test the new configuration! Not happy with their service. read more

It has been several years since I was certified by Jon and his team. The skills I learned and continue to learn through additional courses have made me a competent and confident diver. I was just certified at SCUBA Network by Kiki this past weekend and I could not have had a better experience! Kiki is an amazing instructor full of patience and knowledge and Jon runs an amazing store and team. The entire course promoted self efficiency and safety and I felt truly knowledgeable about the equipment I was using, the reason why I was doing what I was doing and had a great time because of it. So I have had some concerns in the past, but I guess there have been some changes to management, and thank goodness for that. The changes have all been for the positive. The new management has really gone out of their way to work with their clients instead of throwing one fee out there after another. My husband went in to finish his certification and was quite happy with the changes that have been made. A store that was more focused on fees is now customer service centered. The goal now seems to be to expose people to the joys of diving. The instructors were friendly, informative, and excited to teach. read more

It has been sometime since I had been diving and lost touch with scuba network, they were going through a major change in organization. When I was ready to get back in the water. I heard that they brought back some of the old staff to be the new management, "Little John" as he was called is now in charge and he is doing a fantastic job. The others like Bob and Colin, I am glad to be able to dive with them again. They are very knowledgeable and always willing to help. The new staff I don't know well but they are very friendly as well. Any old reviews from at least a year ago or more should be taken as they are old and things have changed for the better. The instructors at Scuba Network are some of the best in the industry. If your serious about training they can provide you with the education to have a safe and successful dive every time. They know how to fit gear to you to maximize your comfort in the water. They will get you the gear that works for you not sell you a bunch of junk that you don't need. "Little Jon" has always taking good care of me and I can't say enough good things about him. For me it's worth the extra drive past all the other dive shops to get good tank fills and great service! read more

I took up scuba diving "mid-career" (that's the politically correct way of saying "older"). My first attempt was a resort diving course in the Caribbean which was utterly unsuccessful and merely created more fears to overcome! I signed up for a course at Scuba Network and I could not be happier with the training I've received. Jon, Colin, Bob, Lance, Eric have all been very patient and supportive. I think the other great service Scuba Network provides is the many dive trips that you can participate in whether or not you have a "buddy" and the instructor escorts provide continuing training and experience. I've talked to friends who get certified but then never dive because they're not confident enough to "go it alone". Anyway, hope this was helpful! read more

I have always been very impressed with the customer service and level of care at Scuba Network in Deerfield Beach, but recently they went way above and beyond. I had a Mares Icon dive computer that I had for a couple of years and I had always had trouble with it (charging issues, tank transmitters, etc). I should have sent it back a long time ago, but I could always make it work and I really loved the computer. I finally took it into Jon at Scuba Network because I just couldn't get it to charge properly. Didn't really expect Mares to do much, but it was worth a try. Went in from time to time to check on it and Jon told me Mares was really trying to figure out what was going on (it was out of warranty, so again, didn't expect much). Got a call from him a couple of weeks ago to come in and pick it up. Expecting my old computer maybe working again, maybe not. What I got was a BRAND NEW computer with 3 brand new Transmitters to replace the ones i sent in. Newest, best version. I was truly speechless. I still can't figure out how he got Mares to step up like that!. Thank you Jon! read more

The first thing the staff did before our refresher course was tell us all of our gear was wrong so we would buy new stuff. For example, my fins are not quick release and they insisted that they needed to be. We insisted that our gear was just fine as we had already been on several dives with it. However they did make us buy dive slates stating that they were required in order to complete the course. We never even used them in the training. Incredibly frustrating. The whole day was very disorganized. The final dive in the afternoon was fun and the instructor seemed to have a good time with us, but all activities leading up to it was just frustrating and disorganized. I think we all agreed we would not use this location in the future. read more
