SD Custom Cakes made the most incredible neon glow cake for my son's 7th birthday! I sent her a few inspiration photos and she totally brought the vision to life--it was vibrant, creative, and absolutely perfect for the party theme. Everyone was blown away, and it tasted just as amazing as it looked! She was super friendly, worked with my schedule, and gave clear instructions for payment and pickup (just a heads-up: they've recently moved, but the phone number listed is still correct!). The whole process was smooth and easy from start to finish. Highly recommend this talented home-based baker in Escondido--I'll definitely be ordering from her again!

AMAZING and SOOOO DELICIOUS!!!!! Last minute (4 days before event), I texted and asked for a quote. I sent a screenshot of a Roblox cake and cupcakes, got a quote instantly, and paid the deposit. Day of the event (9/25), I picked up both and to my surprise, both the cake and cupcakes looked EXACTLY like the screenshot! I was so impressed! This was the 9th birthday for my son and we've never had a better cake and cupcakes. Truly grateful for the amazing woman behind SD Custom Cakes! On such short notice too! Muchas gracias

Rosa did an amazing job on my cake. It was for my big sisters birthday. We ordered a huge cake. My sister is a huge movie and sci-fi fan. She was so happy with the look of the cake and even more elated by the taste. Rosa was kind, professional and communicated clear about the design on the cake. Happy to exchange pictures and ideas. I am so impressed with how the cake I ordered for my sister's birthday from here came out. I can't get over how perfect it came out. Not only was it exactly how I imagined it, but everyone who tried it said it was delicious. They give the option of adding fresh fruit as a filling which made it even better. I love how easy it is to communicate with them. They also had it ready exactly at the time I scheduled for pick up. I plan on ordering more cakes from here in the future due to their amazing quality. Its always a pleasure ordering cakes with SD CUSTOM CAKES. Even through the 2020 pandemic they followed all the rules of social distancing, wore a mask. The cakes are delicious and always so freaking amazingly decorated. They do more than just cakes, check out their page. Help support small family owned business. They are quick to respond to messages, so professional and very well priced. Thank you guys so much for our cake! We loved the cake! My nephew was so excited when he saw it. He couldn't wait to eat a piece of chocolate cake.

Unfortunately my experience was not as great as i was hoping for. I did 2 orders - 1st trial, second for baby cake smash photoshoot. 1st was carrot cake - it was ok, not wow! I managed to bring it home safe although when i arrived it was not ready! 2nd was simple vanilla - i asked particularly NO SUGAR as it was for 1 year old baby to eat. She said ok. On the day of the pick up, cake was not ready, i had to wait. When i tried the icing, it was super sweet, i asked why??? If i asked particularly for NOT SWEET, she said she doesn't change the recipe! Sorry??? What??? Why didn't you tell me that when i placed an order in the first place??? And the other disappointment was that a minute later after i left the shop the cake just fell apart, by the time i reached home 17 min later, the cake was all over the box!! Well she did refunded the money, but it was quite sad experience, considering the fact that my photographer was waiting for me and we had to assemble the cake at the spot as we could.

I can't say enough good things about this cake! My boyfriend's mom ordered his graduation cake from here and it turned out absolutely stunning! It was even better than the inspo pics we sent. Every detail was so beautifully done and it really stood out at the party. And the taste?? Just as good as it looked (if not better). Super fresh, perfectly sweet, and we kept going back for seconds. She was also so sweet and easy to communicate with, which made the whole experience even better. You can tell she truly cares about what she does. The cake was an absolute hit! It was intended for a colleague, that is also a bread baker, so I had the cake made to look like a loaf of sourdough bread. It was perfection. Not only did the recipient love it, but my other work colleagues thoroughly enjoyed it, too. We opted for a nut-free option, and it didn't matter... the taste was delicious! We ordered from custom cakes for a family member's 50th and overall no regrets! I'll start with the good: The cake looked amazing. Visually, it was exactly what we wanted, it was impressive, professional, awesome. We were so happy with it. The cake was half chocolate and half vanilla (one layer of each separated by frosting) and the chocolate layer got rave reviews. The vanilla however confused many guests, several commented that it tasted dry and crumbly and a little strange. We also had some issues with the initial deposit, we ended up paying it twice and I had to file a chargeback for the other deposit. The cakemaker had us nervous because communications got slightly unprofessional for a bit as we were inquiring about the charge and trying to avoid paying twice. Overall she came through though and while $200 is steep for a sheet cake, it was memorable and worth it (and I eventually was reimbursed by the cc company for the double charge). read more

Nayeli at Custom cakes is so sweet. She allowed our team to place a 4 tier cake order with only a weeks notice along with some Minnie Mouse cookies. She loves what she does and values customer service and it shows. She goes out of her way for her customers and is mindful of budgets and requests. SD Custom Cakes has the best cakes and cookies I have ever tasted! Everything I have ordered has been freshly made and so delicious! I finally got the chance to place a custom cake order. Nayeli was able to bring my vision to life just from some pictures I showed her. The cake came out even better than the reference pictures! She did an incredible job. Not only was the presentation of the cake AMAZING it tasted AMAZING. We had the red velvet with cream cheese. The cake was moist and had a sweet not overpowering taste with the perfect amount of creamy cream cheese. I highly recommend trying all their baked good. read more

I want to say thank you!! To SD custom cake. We tried to find a good place that can make us this custom cake for our daughters birthday! And SD custom cakes not only created this amazing tiktok design but also had it for us in 2 days notice!! Everywhere else they told us they couldn't do it in that short of a notice. It's unfortunate that I have to write this review as I've tried to contact Nayeli multiple times without any response. We've used Nayeli a few times for our kids birthday parties without any issues. This last time we used her, the cupcakes tasted "different." We were so excited bc they looked great. When we bit into them, the cake portion was chewy, and the frosting was sour as if it had gone bad. 3 or 4 of the guests at the party felt the same way. We brought the rest of the cupcakes home after the party, and continued to examine the cupcakes and it seems that the frosting had gone bad. Many of the cupcakes had "curded" frosting on the cupcakes. I'm not sure how long ago the cupcakes were made, or if she had made the frosting fresh or not, but they were horrible. I sent Nayeli a nice text letting her know what seemed to have happened. The fact that I paid close to $100 for baked goods, and have supported her business 4 times now, and she couldn't even reply back to my text really disappoints me. Time to find another baker. I've attached a picture of my text messages to her without any response. I'm just very disappointed with the whole situation. read more

I was looking for a place to have a custom Willy Wonka cake made for my sons 7th birthday party. I found SD Custom Cakes and spoke with the owner and discussed what I wanted to have done, she did not disappoint. The cake came out beautiful with all of the details that I wanted and then some. Unfortunately, I didn't get to pull the trigger on this but they were SO HOPEFUL in kind of distilling down some ideas and the process to completion seemed simple enough. However the cake I needed was more urgent than they could handle. Which was a couple of hours. I was astonished how they told me I could order today and have it tomorrow. Very impressive. Check out their Instagram page as well. Next time I will plan better and give them more time to spread their wings on the custom cake idea I had. It was a really good one!
