We also got the scallop and spicy tuna crispy rice appetizers, and a negi-toro hand roll. The hand roll had a strong sesame oil flavor. My favorite was the baked scallop which was wrapped in a rice paper, the texture is tender and rich in creaminess. Fabulous sushi! The new head chef Ron is a master, and it was so fun to take a seat at the sushi bar and listen to his recommendations. His presentation of the dishes is perfect and each one of the daily specials I tried were mouth watering, delicious and so flavorful. Make sure to eat slowly as everything is a taste treat. Standouts were the fresh toro, snapper, uni with scallop and caviar, and the fresh salmon. Each one had its own special touch and flavor, like a dash of fresh ginger or garlic, all on the most delicious warm sushi rice. They have lots of comfortable seating in the back of the restaurant. I just love the bar because you can watch the artistry of the sushi chef in action. My favorite classics on the menu are the delectable blue crab roll and their phenomenal pressed sushi. Tried the Dine LA menu here which was $65 per person, which is a little steep for lunch but cheaper than the regular price on the menu of $95. It came with edamame, miso soup, sashimi, nigiri, pressed sushi, and a hand roll. It was a really good sampling of their menu and glad I tried it for my first time here. Everything was tasty though the ones with truffle were too strong for me. All the fish was fresh and they even gave us some green tea ice cream at the end. I got a delivery from here, so of course it's not as amazing as in person... but it was still SO GOOD and I will be ordering again. First, I got the Spicy Tuna Rice. It comes with 2 so I got 2 orders. 10/10 for taste! The sauces come on the side with delivery and they were the perfect amount. I'm writing this wishing I still had more left. Also, it was messy to eat and pretty big bites so keep that in mind :) Second, I got the miso soup. It comes in a soup container with extra plastic wrap for reinforcing it during delivery. I ate it second and it was still very warm and also a 10/10! The perfect amount of flavors blended together. It does come with tofu, which I don't like/eat, so I just took those few pieces out (it was easy to do) and ate the rest as usual. Lastly, I got the Spicy Salmon roll. It came kinda oily in the package, but I never expect delivery to have a beautiful presentation. I do wish it came with soy sauce or something, but I had a little sauce leftover from the Spicy Tuna Rice that I used. The whole order did come with ginger and wasabi, but no soy sauce. Nothing but good things to say about Seabutter! There is plenty of table and bar seating inside so the wait is never too long, even during peak meal times. The menu is extensive, so it's easy to find something for everyone in your party. They have some pretty unique rolls/pressed sushi that I haven't seen anywhere else! I usually get the Sizzling Black Cod, Sunset Roll, Salmon Supreme, and Salmon Medley (Salmon, King Salmon, Truffle Salmon). The fish is always fresh and the portions and presentation are consistent. We had a decent dinner at Seabutter! I think there menu options are creative and unusual. We liked the hamachi jalapeno (sashimi style) the seared salmon truffle (sushi style) was really good, and the pressed sushi toro was pretty good. We also got something with crab that I did not like at all. So it was a bit hit or miss. I would definitely go back to get the seared salmon truffle and try some other things, figuring out which were my favorites and then always getting those. read more

There are many free parking lots around also according to the business, but I have not used them. Venue 3.5: Nicely decorated medium to small sized venue. Large sushi bar area. Indoor tables and outdoor (literally on the sidewalk) seating. They take reservations, so you will not have to wait long during busy times. Service 3.5: Polite, friendly and helpful but not frequent. Our server was attentive up until the food came but noticeably slowed down afterwards. Our order was taken quickly, and the food came quickly as well. Food 2.5: Nice, large assortment of small Japanese plates, sushi and rolls. Plating and presentations are very nice, and the menu is unique and creative. Pricing is a little above the norm, However, I have been going to Seabutter for a few years now and I am sad to report that the quality of fish is not what it used to be. Everything we ordered this time around not only tasted a little fishy and stale (and this was on a Saturday night) but at the same time lacked flavor and impact. Drinks 3: Smaller assortment of beer, sake, wine, soft drinks and tea. Pricing is a little above the norm. I'm sad to write this review! I have ordered from here before and had no issue, but for anyone else who is ordering delivery be aware you may not get your food. Around 6:00 p.m., we placed an order for scheduled delivery targeting around 7:45 p.m. When our delivery driver arrived to the restaurant near that time, the restaurant told him to come back in a half hour. This was disappointing but things happen. While he was waiting, our ETA for delivery was adjusted by the restaurant to 9 p.m. Our delivery driver returned at the time they asked, and the restaurant let him know that 1) more than an hour after the scheduled delivery time and after the order was placed they had not begun to make the food and 2) they would not begin our order for another half hour. This would have meant a delivery at about 9:30 p.m. At this point, I called the restaurant to clarify the issue. The hostess confirmed everything the delivery driver said, explained that they hadn't planned enough lead time for their delivery orders, and asked us to cancel the order, which we of course did as we were already hours delayed for dinner and it honestly seemed unlikely we would get the food in the end based on the orders ahead of us. It was clearly a busy night for this restaurant but I haven't ever had a restaurant be so unable to navigate order volume that they delay your order hours and eventually request that you cancel it. Food is My favorite is the HYE. This is my 2nd time trying Seabutter. First one was in Westlake Village, and then this one. I think this one is better. Not really sure why but my experience here was really good. We sat at the bar and watched the sushi chefs do their thing. Seeing them prep their ingredients by hand (squeezing their lemons and placing the juice in a small bottle for their use later, chopping the peppers with precision), it was all just very impressive! Everyone was also very nice. The servers were attentive and took their time to explain what we got. A little negative experience though was when a group of people came in and one of the staff greeted them loudly from our end of our booth and told the rest of the chefs and servers "can we pretend we're happy to see them?" I think that was cringe and i believe he's also the manager. Sooooo, I'm still gonna give the 5 stars though. Since my own personal experience was pretty good. read more

This was by far the worst experience I've had in the past few years. I don't normally write reviews, but this deserved one due to the complete lack of customer service and quality of food. I ordered for pick-up, with a scheduled time of 6:51 pm. I finally received my order at 7:33 pm. The hostess could not care less. Completely dismissive. The communication was awful. When I asked to speak to a manager, they said they don't have one on site and if people want to complain, they can email. This location used to be good, but they take their customers for granted. Once the food was received, it was incredibly low quality. This is how once good restaurants begin to fall apart. I will never go back, there are so many places around town that actually respect and value their customers, this place does not. Many notes about this place: we went on Valentine's Day so understand it would be a bit busier than usual (and they seemed understaffed). But when you walk in, all the delivery pickups and reservations are standing in a clump by the door, and they had 1 person handling both sets of people AND cleaning off the tables. People were waiting 20 minutes just to check in for their reservations. Once we sat down, we ordered garlic edamame which was extremely soft and chewy and covered in what was clearly jarlic (garlic from a jar), we opted to send it back, could've made a better version at home. The miso soup was pretty good, but when I ordered a beer the waiter poured the bottle into the glass (with half of it ending up as foam) instead of just letting me do it myself like other places. We got the shiso special which was AWFUL, the rice was hard and the tuna straight up tasted like metal. The yellowtail and toro sashimi were good and the miss crab pressed sushi was ok, but nothing really outstanding compared to other places in LA. It was also clear based on our experience and other tables that once you're done ordering, they just forget about coming over to box things up/give you the check. My girlfriend had to walk over to the kitchen to ask for both just so we could get out of there, which was probably the reason behind the bottleneck at the entrance all night. Overall I was really looking forward to the meal based on what I'd heard about this place, but I left very disappointed and unlikely to return. read more

For me I LOVE crab so this is a definite order for any crab lovers. Service is always really really good if anything it gets a little shaking and the timing of stuff being released gets a little thrown off when they are busy but overall a great experience. If I could give zero stars, I would. My experience at Seabutter was genuinely shocking and I will never return. The fish I was served tasted rancid -- unmistakably off -- and when I brought it to the staff's attention, I was told I "ate it" and needed to pay for it anyway. I barely tasted it before alerting them, and instead of concern or an apology, I was essentially argued with. To make matters worse, our table was relocated in the middle of our meal without any explanation or courtesy. No apology, no reason given -- and the original table sat empty afterward, which made the whole situation feel even more careless and disrespectful. I left feeling upset, dismissed, and honestly a little stunned at how poorly everything was handled. The food quality was questionable, the service was defensive and unprofessional, and the overall experience was uncomfortable from start to finish. What really pushed this from "bad experience" to unsettling is that my initial review disappeared. I don't know if it was flagged or reported, but having my honest experience seemingly erased is disturbing. I'm reposting because diners deserve to know what they might be walking into.
