Ambiance is very relaxed with a quick and friendly service. Everything on the menu is wonderfully delicious and beautifully presented.

SeaGrass does not take reservations. It is a BYOB. Last evening, we dined here early, arriving around 5 pm when the place was only about 1/4 full. It filled up during the next hour which created a NOISY ambiance. By the time we left (around 615 pm), there were more than 15 people waiting for tables. Lauren was our server. OK, nothing special. We started sharing a special melon salad that was tasty. For entrees, we had Asian Sea Bass $29 from regular menu and a Snapper special $38. Both were very good. So, SeaGrass is good for Ocean Grove where there are few dining options, but not great (not worth going out of your way to dine here).

Very nice restaurant! Felt like OG needed more places to eat. Be prepared for a decent wait if you have more than 2 people. Staff were very nice and attentive. Food was very good and customizable. Fairly expensive but it is a nicer restaurant. Fish and chips: Breading was a bit soggy on the fish. Fries were pretty good. Scallops were delicious and the seafood pasta was amazing Steak was cooked great, just no seasoning. Added salt and pepper and it was great. Salad was really good with a lemon vinaigrette dressing that was perfect. Mashed potatoes needed salt and pepper but tasted great. Overall it's a nice place to try out and eat occasionally!

My wallet would definitely thank me if I hit up BYOBs more often. After a solid beach day just across the border in Bradley Beach this past Saturday with my top-tier chums, some sustenance was on the docket. Ocean Grove doesn't have a ton of dining options - you can hoof it the 10 extra blocks to Asbury if there's an emergency - but SeaGrass looked like the most legit option. We grabbed a wine bottle and headed over to the downtown area in the late afternoon. I was a little nervous about the inability to make a reservation but aside from a few tables on the sidewalk and maybe one or two inside, it was pretty empty. We were able to secure some of the last available outdoor seating; very pleasant on a warm, sunny evening. I'd perused the menu beforehand like a responsible patron, and the marinated lamb pops caught my eye. We got some to share, and they were pretty scrumptious. It's not a huge serving by definition - a few legit bites - but the meat was very tender. The raspberry glaze was a good idea but I thought it was bland; even when I doused the lamb pop in it, it was a little difficult to detect on the palate. The other app we ordered, the whipped ricotta, was perfectly fine as well. This is a personal palate issue, but for me the accompanying rustic Italian bread was a little tough and needed more effort to chew - not a big deal at all. The star of that smaller dish was very clearly the ricotta concoction, which had honey and crushed red pepper, among other ingredients. I'd get both of those apps again without hesitation. I didn't have to linger too long in the Sea section of the menu to know exactly what I wanted - the herb-encrusted halibut with lobster risotto. Big fan. The halibut had some pleasant seasoning on it, was flaky and scrumptious, and the lobster risotto was awesome. My only nitpick there was I thought they went too light on the risotto; if you look at the accompanying pic, there's still a solid percentage of the plate that's basically empty and could have used another scoop, if only for the optics. But overall, I didn't regret my decision. My top-tier chum who literally went to the school of hospitality almost immediately grilled the waitress on how fresh the fish was, and this was a rare time where the response was an aggressive (in a good way), resounding answer - "very." I mean, you'd hope so when the ocean is literally a few blocks to the east, but you never know these days. The service was perfectly fine. We were initially a little concerned because we'd been placed at the most extreme table right on the border of the outdoor seating (I think to the point where it literally might have been in front of another business) and there was a fear that there would be difficulty noticing us. But those concerns were moot - our waitress was over regularly and though it was a leisurely meal befitting a vacation weekend, we didn't wait a particularly long time for everything. A nice pleasant pace. Honestly, nothing was mind-blowing here to the point where I'd go out of my way to visit, but there also weren't any real issues so if I did happen to be back in the area, I'd absolutely go back. Just don't forget your Sauvignon Blanc.

Came here with a group of 8 last month. They don't take reservations, but we got there for early dinner and were seated within a few minutes. Aquarium and ambiance is fantastic. They make their own tea but not their own lemonade (they use a brand name) so they made us Arnold Palmer's which were fabulous and not too sweet. Order the sword fish 10/10. My friend let me try, the sauce is perfection. I hope ended up having the steak which was good too, but next time I am definitely having the sword fish. Shout out to Cory, our server, for going above and beyond and making things easier on our group so we could focus on gabbing with our group. I can't wait to go back to OG and Sea Grass! Oh and it's BYOB

If you're in the mood for seafood and you're in the Asbury Park/ Ocean Grove area, check out Sea Grass. The decor is coastal chic, with lovely fish art on the walls. Service was welcoming, professional and prompt. The food was very good! To start, we had the mussels in a tomato broth served with a hearty rustic bread that was warm . My husband had the avocado and goat cheese salad, I opted for the avocado salad they had different toppings, how cool. For the main we had the crab cakes, so flavorful, moist and delicious. Tip: this is a B.Y.O.B. restaurant. Cheers!

I heard so many recommendations on Seagrass, and it lived up to the hype! Beautiful ambiance and great service. Filet mignon and lobster special with broccoli rabe was excellent! Perfectly prepared. Duck special was also mouth watering!!

We sat outside and have a lovely lunch. I asked the waitress her advice between a few dishes and she recommended her favorite - the avocado salad, which comes with edamame, carrot ginger dressing, and add chicken. It was absolutely delicious and hit the spot. My friend got the lobster BLT and loved it. I tried I bite and loved it as well. Service was excellent and we got to enjoy ciders we brought in icy cold cups provided by the restaurant. A great touch. I would definitely return and recommend to others. Lots of great things to try.

What an absolute gem of a place. From the moment we stepped in, Kristina made us feel at home. She was so kind and thoughtful. Before we could even ask anything she was already two steps ahead. The food was great - wonderful combinations of traditional dishes with tasty sauces. Loved this place. Absolutely exceptional service.

Half price night on Wednesdays in the off season! I was pleasantly surprised how packed it was tonight, despite it being a cold wintery Wednesday night. They don't take reservations, but we got one of the last open tables. They are BYOB (yay!). Started with Whipped Ricotta with pistachios - delicious! It came with plenty bread that was warm and lightly toasted. My Roasted Atlantic Salmon with sesame-soy glaze and soba noodle stir fry was flavorful and cooked to perfection. My husband had the Crispy Herb Encrusted Halibut; note that it came with vegetable risotto instead of lobster because it was half-price night (up charge to keep the lobster). Like many restaurants these days, they charge a 3.5% credit card service fee. Just something to be aware of in case you want to pay cash.

Cajun salmon special - appy was the whipped ricotta - see description in review

I haven't been there in years. Loved our server, he was very good. They didn't rush us out after we ate, I met a friend who I haven't seen in a year. We got the whipped ricotta appetizer w Basile and honey and hot pepper seeds w fresh bread for dipping. We both got the Cajun salmon special over arugula w avocado, pineapple, cranberry- it was delicious. Nice atmosphere. Booths or tables inside. Tables outside too but it was too hot - they don't take reservations but 5:30 pm on a Thursday in July, we sat down immediately. I look forward to going back

Will you take a reservation for 8 people?

Call them, I'd imagine so for larger parties. Food is fantastic so are the servers.

Is the half off Wednesday menu still in effect June 2023?

No it ended in April. They have $1 Oyster Mondays during summer though!

Does Sea Grass in Ocean grove NJ take reservations?

No, I called today and they said no - the website says no too

¿ Is the half off entrees on Wednesday still in effect at the end of May?

It's still in effect through June 20th, yay! 😁

Do they have a kids menu?

I did not see a kids menu. I don't think it's a kids kind of restaurant.

One item was a cheesesteak. Seems simple, right? Well, ordering a meat item with a vegan cheese was waaaay too much for her. Literally couldn't wrap her head around it, we had to explain it like she was from another country. After a few minutes, we threw the complication of putting mushrooms on it. No mushrooms came on the cheesesteak, but tons of unordered peppers and onions. The person who got it in our party took ten minutes to make sure the onions and peppers were off, but even then, the flavor was so peppery and onion-y that you couldn't taste the already small amount of steak. But the kicker was the pizza order. Getting a large pie, we began telling the topping we wanted...only to get like four ingredients into the list to suddenly, rudely, be told they don't do that many toppings, it will ruin the pizza. (Scooby Doo head shaking WHAAA?!) Holy sacrificing your profit margin , Batman! Aren't they in business to sell what the customer wants? Couldn't find a way to maybe put the extra stuff we wanted on the side, then we could put it on later? It's mind boggling that the owners and managers don't put some kind of warning about that...seems like then you'd have a fallback for that occurring...but whotf does that, on any level? I guess the crust crumbles if too many toppings are chosen. The food is good, kinda unique. That said, so is having someone being rude in a service-oriented job. Read the other reviews, this feels to be a common element in people's experiences. Five stars for food, one for the multiple times (three different) I've had this happen here. Three overall seems fair, if not generous.

The service was excellent throughout the entire evening, and every cocktail we ordered was fantastic. We started with a few appetizers, which were the perfect way to kick off the meal before diving into our mains. For dinner, we ordered the Duck Rice, Schnitzel, octopus, and mushroom skewer. While everything was delicious, the Duck Rice and Schnitzel were the clear standouts. Both were packed with flavor, and the Schnitzel was an especially generous portion without feeling over the top. It was perfectly cooked and incredibly satisfying. To top off the night, we headed downstairs to their cocktail bar, Laylow, and had an amazing time. The atmosphere was fun, the cocktails were just as impressive as dinner, and it was the perfect way to end the evening. Their brunch list, on the other hand, had much more to offer, so my friend and I stopped in there for a late afternoon meal. We had gotten held up shopping around town, so we arrived close to the end of their brunch time window, and the place was completely empty. The restaurant's rustic, Mediterranean elegance was not lost on us, however. We kept it simple and only ordered main dishes. I opted for the Tofu Scramble, which was plated with a side of Calabrian deep-fried potatoes and some sort of spicy tomatillo salsa that was studded with chickpeas. The whole dish had a lot of seasoning, but it was greasy. I tried a few of my friend's za'atar fries, and they were also very oily. She thought her Fried Chicken Sandwich was decent, though. We both felt like REYLA was a stunning restaurant with just above mediocre food. I would not be opposed to going back there, but I would not rush there either.
