Don't get me wrong , it's a great school with great teachers, but there's one thing about this school that I really can't wrap my mind around and I don't understand how they can be so careless about this on particular thing. I enrolled my son for one month in this school for spring with a pro rate conducted by Ms. Nora. The amount of money that was taken out was not what we had spoken about combined with all these late fees which I wasn't supposed to have, because the money was not supposed to be taken out. Now it's been 4 months and I'm still waiting on an update. They're so quick to take money, but why does it take approximately 4 months to get an update on the money that wasn't supposed to be taken out. All I gotta say is , seagull academy . I wish I have put my son in seagull schools sooner. My son attended from Feb 2024-July 2024. He previously went to Kamaaina kids Kalaeloa (not recommended). The teachers, the program, the staff are so accommodating. My son has improved so much by being here. I appreciate his teachers Ms. Rynel and Ms. Rowena. Wishing many blessings upon them. Enrolled my daughter into Seagull School 1st wanting the Ocean Pointe location but there was no opening so went with Kapolei. I absolutely LOVE her teachers from 5B Mrs.Judelyn, Mrs. Paula, and Mrs. Marie are amazing. It took my daughter about 2 weeks to get use to going to school but every morning I would drop her Mrs. Paula would greet us and when I say my goodbye and my daughter cries she carries my daughter and just comforts her. My daughter loves it there and she loves her classmates. I have a picky child so when I pick her up they are up from their nap and have snack time, Mrs. Judelyn always tells my daughter to bring her snack home with us even if she wouldn't eat it and always hugs my child before we leave. Everything about their class and the school I love. We recently got an opportunity to move to Ocean Pointe but I decided to keep my child at Kapolei since she was so use to it already and she had so much growth being there. Really a spectacular school! We attended for a relatively short period, as we had to unexpectedly return to mainland. However, our children routinely still reflect on their experiences there and miss their teachers and classmates very much many weeks after we returned home. 100% would recommend to any family looking for a loving, caring and overall nourishing program for their kiddos. Preschool forced son to quarantine due to being exposed to his aunt that came from outer state. Aunt has been cleared from travel restrictions from State of Hawaii by showing a negative test. Son is heartbroken and constantly asking why he can't see his teacher... (Why I'll give 1 star vs Zero) It's their policy I understand that part, BUT what I don't understand is that they had let him into school KNOWING that my sister from Vegas was picking him up. They violated my sisters HIPPA rights and did not want to notify the classroom/families that they've been in contact with my son. I can see the reason why they wouldn't want to notify them... "Dear family, your child MAY be at risk due to possible exposure from a child that was in contact with an out of state traveler. But don't be alarmed, the traveler tested NEGATIVE for covid and was cleared from travel restrictions by the state of Hawaii." For your child's safety he will be quarantined for 10 days." sounds ridiculous right?! It's graduation season and summer! You WILL be in contact with an out of state traveler especially if you are in the travel industry! The school called to leave a message saying that they do not want us in the program. But gladly took our June tuition and school deposit. I did not receive any written statement saying he needs to quarantine. On my end it effects my job because I need a written document to receive covid leave. It's unfortunate that they don't want to resolve it. Got in trouble just for stating the truth. Seagull preschool has proven to care more about money than their students, our children. They have not handled this Covid situation even remotely decently. Seagull was shut down mid March. That left half of the month that children wouldn't be allowed to receive services from Seagull. However, they did not feel that it was reasonable to reimburse families for half the month's tuition. While other schools were giving away free meals for ALL children under the age of 18, Seagull charged for meals and educational services that they did not provide whatsoever. But okay, let's cut them a little slack. Covid hit so suddenly, it was hard to prepare for. Seagull chose to look out for themselves rather than their students' families. Fine. Fast forward to their reopening. A 30% increase in tuition. Fast forward to 109 confirmed Covid cases in Hawaii. I want to hold my child out of school for at least a month until the numbers of daily cases are hopefully not so scary. Seagull has not updated, altered, or made exceptions to their policies even though a global pandemic killing hundreds of thousands of people swept the world. They notified me that they would be keeping my deposit because I wasn't able to predict how bad Covid would be 30 days ago and therefore did not give the notice that their pre-Covid policy requires. Their suggestion? Continue to take the risk and expose my child for 30 more days if I want my deposit back. $400 is the price that they put on my child. Keep your deposit, greedy, money-hungry, Seagull. My kid's life is worth so much more than the $400 that you can't seem to let go of. read more

My son has only been going here since December but I will say that I am very happy with this school. My only complaints are that for what you pay in tuition - I do feel the classrooms could use some updating. They aren't "dirty" but dingy. The dirt the kids track in has made to carpet look kind of gross and they do sleep on those floors. The other complaint is that they let my kid run around outside with no shoes or slippers on. It drives me crazy because he is SO dirty when I pick him up and as soon as I get home EVERYDAY I have to give him a bath before I can do anything else. The teachers are GREAT, we had some issues going on with my son and when I voiced my concerns to the centers Director "Dee Dee" she was amazing and really put all of my concerns at ease. My son has been going to school setting since he was one but I can say he did learn a lot here in the short time he attended. Another thing I like is that the school is attached to an elderly care center so they often bring the seniors over to be involved with the kids. I feel it teaches respect for your elders at a great age and you can see how much they love it. The school does field trips and school performances which my son LOVED taking part in. My son will be starting Kindergarten this year at the age of 4, but I do feel he is ready and I do credit a lot of that to this school. BOTTOM LINE: They are great for what you pay them to do. I love Seagull for my son. It's clean and the environment is safe and engaging. This is preschool so I don't mind my son running around without his slippers or coming home a little dirty. It shows me that my son was being a kid - having fun in a safe environment and he comes home loving school. There are open houses, parent/student conferences and an open-door policy so parents can come in and observe any day and any time. Childcare is damn expensive in Hawaii. And I know Seagull struggles with the cost of running a pre-school in the heart of Kapolei. So, I don't mind and don't expect every single inch of the school to be perfect. For the small imperfections I gotta give four stars instead of five. And just cause there's always room for improvement. But in my heart Seagull is a five. And yes, tuition is expensive. But tuition is expensive everywhere and it could be more expensive. The price at Seagull is not as high as some other schools. Seagull offers financial aid and the financial aid form is one of the easiest I've ever filled out. There is no perfect preschool so don't expect it to be perfect. But to me, Seagull is as good as it gets. I'm very happy with my decision to enroll my son in Seagull Preschools Kapolei. read more

I switched my children out of this school after 3 hours (which we paid almost $300 for and never got refunded, by the way). The toys, floor, everything was filfthy and old. The food looked disgusting and so unhealthy... Canned Apples, rice, macaroni with ground beef, and canned veggies. For $800 per child per month, I would think they'd have upgraded toys, better food, and a cleaner school. As for the teachers, they were very nice but there was no organization whatsoever. It was too chaotic, (Too many kids for each class?) there was no teaching, there were two kids that cried the whole time I was there, the kids basically played with the old, dirty toys the whole time. When asked if we could bring sippy cups for my children we were told they were just going to have to get used to paper cups. They have sand boxes outside which freak me out. When I think of sandboxes I think of dirty. Although they seem to have it blocked off from cats, I still worry about birds (mites??) and other things that could be festering. Their carpet also looks like it hasn't been changed since the school opened. Like I said, the staff is really nice. They looked like they are overworked and kind of like they've given up on the teaching thing. Oh, I also noticed quite a few kids who were hacking and had runny noses--which, I know, they are not even supposed to be in school when they are that sick. I switched my kids to New Hope Christian Preschool. It is clean, there is LEARNING, there is a nice student/teacher ratio, they do charity work as a school, the kids play nicely, the staff is awesome, their food is both healthy and delicious, they allow children to bring lunches on the days the menu doesn't look like a child will eat it, they allow you to bring a sippy cup with water (!!!), and they let us use their refrigerator for my kids' soy milk (the milk @ Seagull School upset their stomaches), they help to potty train your children, and (!!!) the tuition is waaaay less expensive. I went to register my son for Summer time and they told me they would give me a call back to let me know the exact date he would start. One week passed by, I called them back and they said everything was fine for June but they will give me a call back anyways, 2 weeks went by and I called back again asking if I needed to pre pay for the month of June because I really needed that confirmation, otherwise I needed to find another school for my son. They never called me back again. So, in total, I talked to 4 different people telling me they were going to call me back and never did. When I called back for the 4th time, the person said he only could start on the 13th but he would try for him to start earlier so he would give me a call back by the end of the day... you don't have to guess anymore, he never contacted me back and I had to find a babysitter for my son.... this place is such a mess! If somebody tells you they will call back, please call back... such a disrespect! read more

I enrolled my son into Seagulls Kapolei 5 months after he turned 2. Due to being a single parent with no one to depend on child care 5 days a week, I was in need of a good daycare asap. My cousin had told me about this school so I decided to schedule a tour. & I loved it! They potty trained my son and I was amazed! his first time around of potty training (I decided) didn't go so well. I spoke to his teacher about it and she said maybe we should give him more time, which we did. Literally a month later he got it! Instantly. I'm sure it's "monkey see monkey do" also. but it goes to show how much patients they have for the kids. Parent teacher conference is done a few times a year. if you can't schedule a time to go down to the school they will accommodate you and do a phone conference. They also give you a folder of pictures of your child and art they did throughout the year to keep. They also hold Open Houses which is great for the kids to show they have done throughout the year. Field trips are at least once of month. Some just consist of them walking Kapolei Library. They also do Pumpkin Patch every October which is one the kids love! The bus fair can get a bit pricey. Now my has just graduated from Seagulls Kapolei at 5 years old and I'm sad for him to leave! he has learned so much throughout the 3 years he has been here. Potty trained, ABC's (uppercase & lowercase) count to 50, write his name, trace his lettered/numbers, shapes (and not just the basic circle square and triangle either) and colors..I could go on and on. The one thing that I am so proud of is his social skills, he was soo shy at first he would cry all the time before I dropped him off. Now he is so confident in himself, and can't wait to start his new Big Boy school (Elementary). Office staff are awesome! The school does offer their own financial aid which you can also stack with other types of financial aid/scholarships. (child care connects/Kamehameha schools scholarships) CON: it is VERY expensive! but what daycare isn't. depends on the age and if your child will be attending full time or part time. read more

I love this preschool! If your child is a hands on learner and enjoys the outdoors, I highly recommend Seagull. A school is not a school without access to a playground. My children's experiences come from their environment and this includes outdoor play. The facilities are great, the toys are in great shape (even after wear & tear brought on by tots) and the staff are extremely supportive. The curriculum is well organized and creates structure that young ones need to learn in preparation for kindergarten. Parent's are provided a calendar of the month's lessons for continued interaction and reinforcement at home. The meals are nutritious and meet the basic food groups. I personally don't eat 100% organic (healthy but not all organic) thus I have no complaints about their food. Smart parents will tour a school prior to paying any tuition to make sure it is a true match for their child. I toured the facility with the Director prior to making a final decision & then paid. However, if parents enroll and decide to withdraw, refunds are given so long as parents provide notice at least 2-weeks in advance.
