Pulled Pork Sandwich with Side Salad

We went to have dinner here after a day in Buchart Gardens. It was nearby, friendly, and the food was tasty!!! The atmosphere was fun, the building is on an old pier next to the ferry entrance. After dinner, we went back to Buchart Gardens for Illuminations Night.

This is a little restaurant right on the water. It's a bit tucked away and down some stairs, so we had some trouble finding it. The menu was breakfast oriented, and we weren't sure we would all find something we liked. I tried the breakfast poutine, and it was GOOD. The serving was huge! I hardly made a dent in it before I was full. Very yummy. The service was a little slow, but this is a small establishment with a fair amount of tables. So please be patient. The kids were super happy with their choices, as was my husband.

Eating at seahorses was like stepping into a little oasis. Time slowed, the weather on the deck was great, the Jack Johnson music made you feel like this is exactly what you should be doing in the moment. I highly suggest you try the poutine with pork added. You can get a small and eat it as an appetizer, because you're going to want to try more. I had the mermaid salad in wrap form with yam fries. It was all just delightful.

I have more then a few food intolerances. They were kind when I asked about ingredients I needed to avoid and even inquired when they were not entirely sure. Everything was rave worthy! Their GF burger was one of the best I've had and topped with a yummy deep fried pickle! My husband thought the crab cakes were sublime and he thoroughly enjoyed the soup! There was no skimping on the crab. We are making thIs place our must stop when ever we come this way. There were Yummy looking things in the baked goods case that we wanted to browse but were to full. The people were great there! This gem is down the stairs in a dock next to a small inter island ferry terminal in a little picturesque marina area.

This was a treasured find for the day!! Every item on the menu was delicious. Hubby had the pulled pork and I had the mermaid salad. Don't miss out on their desserts. The coconut brownie and lemon tart were divine! Darling atmosphere and attentive and Kind management. If you have extra time go kayak afterward!

We ordered a few lattes made with their in-house syrups, and every single one of them was incredible. We loved them so much we went back for them again and again over the weekend we were there. We also tried their chorizo burrito and donuts, which were both outstanding. I honestly want to go back to the island just to eat here again! The ambiance of the place is awesome. It is super kid-friendly outside, featuring a wonderful yard with plenty of toys and things to do, which makes it incredibly relaxing for families. To top it all off, the staff was incredibly nice, welcoming, and helpful throughout our visits. I highly, highly recommend checking out Medio Cafe if you are anywhere near the San Juan Islands. It was so good, and it's an absolute must-visit spot that we will definitely keep coming back to!

They accidentally put the hashbrowns within the sandwich. Instantly, one of the staff members tried to rectify it and give me extra hashbrowns no charge. I absolutely appreciate that, and declined as it wasn't a huge deal. The sandwich was delicious! I enjoyed my lavender matcha (albeit I think next time I'll make it a little sweeter). The restaurant is walkable from Friday Harbor. We went straight there right after we got off the ferry. There's also a cute little patio to sit on. What a great time!

To be honest, I completely understand why. This cafe is a step above the rest. The inside is cozy, with a cabin-esque vibe and clear ceilings in their dining room for an indoor-outdoor feel. Despite the line of 20+ people, Shirley Delicious worked like a well oiled machine. Their menu included breakfast, lunch, and even a flight of soup (which I so desperately wanted). I ordered their date pastry, a hot caramel latte, and breakfast sandwich with avo. Each item was absolutely delicious. This is also a great location to shop for island goodies. Their storefront is filled with jams, sauces, metal working artwork, etc. Can't believe they can pack so much goodness into four little walls!

From start to finish, everything was beautifully prepared and wonderfully served. We began with the truffle gougere -essentially delightful little cream puffs filled with melted parmesan that were absolutely to die for. Each bite was rich and delicious. Next up was the bread served with onion butter, which had a fantastic flavor profile. My only tiny wish was that the bread had been toasted just a bit to help that lovely butter melt right in. For the main course, we shared a mushroom pie that was beautifully presented and had that comforting, home-cooked feel. The standout dish of the night, though, was the rock fish. The fish was tender, flaky, and paired with pillowy soft gnocchi that was just perfect in texture. We ended the meal with a dark chocolate namelaka (a type of soft biscuit) and a sticky toffee pudding, both beautifully presented. The sticky toffee pudding was delicious, though I personally would have loved just a bit more of that rich sauce to soak up the entire cake, Overall, the service was wonderful, and the meal was impeccable. The area is truly lucky to have such a fine dining gem, and I can't wait to go back again!

It was a nice savory bite of crunch from the pastry dough , and texture of the mushrooms and spices. My belly was full for the direction of my 3 hours on the island. Service was very good also.
