Eleventh stop (09:29) on our southbound road trip to Big Sur on the Pacific Coast Highway, the Seal Beach Overlook has a large dirt turnoff for cars to park for a short visit. The views to cliffs to the south are visible from lot without walking. What I really like about this spot are the large boulders to mark the delineation of car parking to the drop off. They are a great spot to sit while admiring the scenery. It overlooks a beach that often has Elephant Seals, though the vista is too far up to get a good look.
There does seem to be a bit of confusion on the name. Apple maps says this vista is Grimes Point Scenic Overlook, which Google says is further north. Also, there is a Seal Beach in Orange County, so the beach below is not called Seal Beach, to avoid confusion. read more
