    Very yummy chowder

Beautiful location, right across the street from the Sea Life Center. We came on a gorgeous August day. It was sunny, so we sat on the patio. The restaurant has some lovely old touches, such as the GORGEOUS bar, and many old light fixtures. Service was phenomenal. Wonderful attention to our needs. Now for the food. The menu leaves a lot to be desired. I wish there was a larger variety of salads. However, being that we were next to the ocean in Seward, Alaska, I ordered the fish and chips (halibut) and a bowl of chowder. The halibut was phenomenal. Being an Alaskan I am a picky fish eater, and not all fry is good. This fish fry was crunchy and flavorful. The chowder was yummy. Lots of seafood in it and very creamy. Overall it was delicious.

As a local, I'm always on the lookout for spots that serve real Alaskan seafood without leaning too hard into the touristy gimmicks -- and this place gets close. I tried the chowder bowl, and while it had a nice light, creamy base, it wasn't big on flavor. The seafood portion was decent -- not skimpy, but not overflowing either. It's not one of those chowders that leaves a lasting impression, but it's comforting enough on a cold day. The rockfish/cod was crispy and lightly fried, not too oily, which I appreciated. Flaky inside, well-cooked -- but for the price, I wouldn't have minded an extra piece of fish. A little slaw on the side would've given the dish a much-needed pop or contrast. Again, not bad -- just not super bold in flavor. Same goes for the calamari. My son had the chicken nuggets kids meal... pretty basic. Nothing to rave about, but it did the job. The vibe inside is cozy and laid-back. It's not trying to be fancy, and honestly, I like that. Staff was friendly, and the whole space feels relaxed and welcoming. Portion sizes could be a little more generous for the price, but the menu keeps things simple and familiar. Overall, it's a spot I'd come back to -- maybe for the dinner menu or just when I'm in the mood for easy comfort food. Nothing over-the-top, but sometimes that's exactly what you need.

In Alaska for a week, first stop Seward. 4th & 5th Avenue are dotted with several restaurants. We opted to pop into the Seasalt and glad we did. First off, we're visiting during the 'shoulder' season, so it's quiet, which is ever so pleasant. This restaurant has a simple decor. I love that they use worn dish towels as napkins. We tried just two things and I apologize for no pics of the food. We shared the bowl of Seafood and Seaweed Chowder. A New England style 'white' chowder it was delicious. I can't say I saw any seaweed but the chowder was definitely of the sea. It was like clam chowder goes salmon! It was delicious and a nice sized portion for two to share. Crackers came with but not my style. We also shared the Alaskan Sami sandwich was a combo of pulled reindeer meat (so it's lean) and smoked salmon. The sandwich was great and don't think that you're eating Rudolph. Many Scandinavian countries raise and eat reindeer. The only disappointing thing was that the fries were pretty standard 'pulled out of the bag' fries, but they were hot. Service was good. We received our water, beer, and condiments before the food arrived. It seems so petty but so many places fail at providing these things first that one's food gets cold. Won't be in town long enough to dine here again but it was a pleasure dining here.

    Beautiful view.

Stopped for early dinner. Halibut fish & chips and the halibut sammi with jalapeño coleslaw were all terrific. Service was fast and friendly and out door seat was plentiful with a great view of the water!

The service was rude and disrespectful! We waited well over an hour just for our appetizer and when we asked how much longer the host was awful. Highly recommend anywhere but here! Worst place I've been to in my 12 years leaving in this state! Obviously not Alaskan running this shit show.

Came here as our first choice was closed for the season still when we arrived. Food- burger- not good. Like everywhere here in Seward, it tasted like a frozen box type burger from Sam's club or Walmart quality. Ambiance- nice space but we were the only diners there on a Friday 5pm night. Service- the waiter was cordial but due to his lack of smiling, he made me feel on edge and his expressions came off as critical. Sorry, but work on smiling more to make everyone feel more at ease when dining and you will do far better.

Full disclosure: although I do not work for this restaurant, (or any restaurant for that matter), I do work for the same brand. Although I work for the brand I can honestly say this review contains no biases, I would just not review it if it was a bad experience, the "have nothing nice to say don't say it all" way. The experience I and my guests had during lunch was fabulous. The view is spectacular overlooking resurrection bay. There was an upbeat energy throughout the crowd and the dish I had was delicious! Blueberry Quinoa Salad with halibut was scrumptious. My guests had fish and chips and couldn't stop raving about the French fries. Between the view, the portion, the friendliness of the wait staff and the quality I will absolutely be recommending this place and returning.

So pleasantly surprised about our impromptu meal here before popping back on the train back to Anchorage. Super warm staff - beautiful interior with dark woods, felt like a modern speakeasy. Food - incredible. We wanted something light and the crab cake and soup was a great choice. Seafood chowder and reindeer stew - both fabulous and filling! They don't skimp on ingredients. They have house wines - the red Pinot noir was a perfect pairing with the meal. This was my favorite restaurant meal during our trip. Ask for a spot by the window for some pretty glacial views and people watching.

Other than waiting for seating for a long time because of a solitary waiter/host, our experience was excellent. The food arrived promptly and was excellent. They had great local beers on tap to complement their creative menu. My son and I split several items that were all wonderful - beet and goat cheese salad, warm bread with bmchevre cheese and raspberry jam and bacon and goat cheese fries. We were in heaven. My husband loved his burger and fries too, which his subbed ailioli with a high quality mustard that he thoroughly enjoyed. Will definitely revisit Sea Salt on our next visit to Seward.

Not a lot of places open on a Wednesday night in Seward so Seasalt it was! Came here with a party of 5 and we were seated within 10 minutes. There is indoor seating, as well as expansive outdoor deck seating. Also, a bar that would make one believe there is an expansive cocktail menu...which there is not (only premixed cocktails, beer and wine). I order the brioche bread appetizer and chowder. Portions are small, and the food is OK. It won't blow your socks off, but it will fill the belly after a long day of fishing. Overall it gets the job done, but don't expect to be amazed.

We were hungry and we could choose all the well-known tourist eateries and pay big bucks, or we could go into Alaska Seafood Grill for a more quiet, family-friendly experience. Walking in at 12:40 PM, we saw that we needed to order at the counter and they would bring the food to our table. There were some open tables, so we did not have to wait to be seated. We reviewed the items on the chalkboard menu above the ordering counter. I don't eat seafood, but luckily they offered a BBQ Bacon Burger with fries. My wife ordered seafood chowder. We also ordered a side of onion rings and bought a brownie for later. I found the burger and fries to be very filling and tasty. My wife enjoyed her chowder. We both liked the onion rings, which were NOT greasy at all. The brownie was soft, chocolatey, and VERY good, just the way we like it. The inside of the restaurant is definitely not what you would call a high-end environment. But, it was clean, quiet, functional, bright, and, most importantly, had clean tables and chairs on which to sit. The staff were all very friendly and answered all our questions. There was a man, perhaps he was the manager?, who walked, dressed, and spoke like he would be more at home in Boston instead of Seward. This is NOT a complaint about him, just an observation. We spoke with him and he answered all our questions in a friendly manner. A heads-up: the fish here is fried with panko breading, so if you're (like me) expecting New Zealand-style or classic English beer-battered this might not hit the mark. The fries were excellent tho and the seafood chowder was the real star--rich, flavorful, and loaded with salmon chunks. Would I order the fish and chips again? Probably not. But I'd definitely come back just for seafood chowder!!
