Went in earlier this week on a suggestion from a friend. Got in at 6:30 and opted to wait for seating that was not in direct sunlight. Grabbed a few refreshments at the bar area. Our server this evening was Sara who did a nice job going over options. We opted to start with the Tuna nachos and calamari for appetizers. Based on Yelp recommendations went with the wonton nachos on the side. Good choice. Avoided a soggy mess this way. Both that and the calamari were good. For dinner went with the mahi sandwich with fries. Would have preferred blackened mahi tacos, but they only offer fried mahi tacos. Wife went with the fried shrimp basket and my daughter chose the shrimp tacos. All were good. At 6:30 the atmosphere was relaxed. A combination of families and couples of all ages. Not sure what happens after 10 pm. Now the two questions - Would I come back? Yes. Would I recommend to family and friends? Yes, without hesitation. read more

DO NOT come to this place at 7 pm expecting to get a table before 9 pm and eat anytime near 10pm with 10 people!! This place is a joke and can't handle large parties. 3 hours to get table and some fried seafood?!?? You're better off order dominos and having it delivered and eating it here. read more

A couple of things...first of all on our second visit here we only ordered dessert to go. Ordered key lime pie based on a recommendation. We waited a good bit of time for our order. Now you know what key lime pie is. This ain't it. I wish I had a pic but it was really key lime cake. A layered white cake situation with key lime mousse and some cream cheese frosting with whipped cream. It's sweet and it is tasty but it is not key lime pie. We simply ordered it sight unseen but key lime pie is kind of iconic and it's not cake. I tried to call ahead but there was no answer and maybe if I had reached them I'd have learned what their iteration is. The presentation was cute as it was in little layered rounds but the disappointment was set in. Second...they will probably tell you that it's a very long wait...maybe 90 minutes. On our first attempt, our name was called way sooner than that but at that point we'd gone elsewhere. It's a busy restaurant with a fun vibe and maybe one day we'll try dinner. Don't be like us and not read the description of the Key Lime Pie. Update: just learned the "pie" is David Annie's from Walmart/Foodservice so that's disappointing but I recognize it's done a lot everywhere. read more

Service was "ok". Not bad, but not outstanding. They had live music and it was ok, but we weren't there for that so it seemed loud to us. On a different night it would have been different I'm sure. I ordered shrimp tacos. I was nervous. I don't normally stray that far from my comfort zone but they were really good. The dry slaw on it was good. We've been coming to Pleasure Island for weekend getaways and weeklong vacations since 2013. Today, we found ourselves at Seawitch for an early dinner. We sat at the bar. CJ the bartender made us feel very welcomed. The fried mahi tacos were the best fish tacos my husband ever had and I had the Brussel sprouts. They were quite delicious and dipped in the taco's siracha mayo made them DIVINE. What a fun place with unexpected goodness! Edit: I experienced Seawitch again on 4/18 with a daughter. Yeah, no. The food was not great this time. I ordered the Brussel sprouts again but they were a dripping buttery mess. The cilantro lime shrimp tacos had no flavor and had what appeared to be only two specks of cilantro. It was very busy. Maybe the busier they are, the lower the quality of food is, therefore this was disappointing. 2 stars. read more

The Seawitchis one of those unique places that you sometimes find at the beach. It is a rustic, tiki bar kind of atmosphere with really good drinks, friendly service and good food. It is not fine cuisine but really good beach food. Prices are reasonable. I understand that it is closing soon to make way for a large hotel chain and I am sad. Beach towns lose their personality when places like the Seawitch go away and this will be a loss for sure. read more

The food was great! We really enjoyed our fried shrimp and fried mozzarella slices - so good!! Dressing now were awesome! The fans on the ceiling could use a cleaning - they were caked with dust - thankfully there were not on! We always have a good time at the Seawitch. Menu is lots of beach fare. It has a good kid's menu. They have good gluten-free and dairy-free options: nothing special, but it's easy to navigate the menu. The cocktails are good beach drinks. Not bad, but not high class. They keep it real and affordable. There is always a wait, and service is slow. It's a beach town, so we expect this. It's a part of vacation life to kick back and relax. They have a large waiting area, so it is easy. Parking is always a pinch, too. There is validated parking at the restaurant, but it's limited. There are paid lots nearby. read more

My friends are low-key obsessed with the SeaWitch, so I've been here a few times. After a day at Fort Fisher we were all getting hangry. The restaurant is dog friendly, but they aren't permitted everywhere. We waited about 30 minutes (they have a covered waiting area) and then got a table where we weren't going to be all over everyone with the pup. You can grab drinks from the bar while you wait. I ordered a delicious mai tai to start (and a peach ale later which was great), plus a chicken sandwich and side salad as I don't eat seafood. My friends got the shrimp po boy and the tuna nachos. They were all happy. Our waitress, Meadow, was friendly and helpful. Their parking lot is pretty small, so cross your fingers to get lucky for a spot. Just tell them you parked there when you get to the host stand. read more

One of my all time favorite places to go for live music...and one of the best restaurants on carolina beach. Really good seafood, and, as a non-seafood person, I can attest that their burgers and chicken items are really good as well. The atmosphere is awesome, indoor and outdoor seating. Two bars, and they are probably the best live music venue in Wilmington, NC, def the best on Carolina Beach. They're willing to spend more to get quality bands like ohhhhh...idk...Machine Gun Band. A lot of places in the area won't shell out any cash so they end up with very subpar bands, and/or 1 and 2 piece performers. Their sides are all pretty good as well, solid fries, hush puppies are awesome, and ohhhh...back to the main dishes, the steam pot is gigantic and very very good, and remember, im not in love with seafood. Check this place out for food, drinks and for music. Some of the coolest bartenders around, great management...just an overall well ran place that has become a staple of wilmington and carolina beach. Cheers!! read more

Good experience! Loved the live music. They were out of some foods (baked potatoes, pasta) when we came, which was a bit disappointing but what we did have was good. Oran, our server, was very friendly and attentive even though it was really busy. We had multiple food allergies in our group, and he was knowledgeable about the foods with our allergens and kept great track of everything (and I know we don't make it easy, lol). They have Udi's gluten free buns for sandwiches. Mine was pretty dried out but honestly I'm always grateful to have a gf option at all. Overall, we had a great time. read more

The good: atmosphere is beachy, great outdoor space and friendly staff. The fried shrimp app was great and we had lemon drops that were solid. Live music there is always a good time and the bathrooms are clean. The bad: the food took forever.. they were out of like half of the menu and the kitchen didn't bother to tell the servers until 20 minutes after we ordered. They were out of crab cakes, oysters, bbq and something else. The food that we did get was good but the lack of half the menu was frustrating. read more

OMG the Food the Awesome Music our Favorite Place at CB! Had the Chicken Alfredo and Peel and Eat Shrimp So Good!

I truly had high hopes for this place; the vibe is nice, there are solid appetizers and quick bites, and an extensive drink menu. However, it may have been one of the worst service experiences I've had. There was a 1-1.5 hour wait, which is okay! We weren't offered the option to put our name down on a waitlist, so we decided to just hop to the bar. There wasn't seating available, which was okay too! First come first serve is king at bars. Problems arose when ordering, though. I asked for a sweet tea before my mixed drink to rehydrate a bit; I was essentially told "we don't have tea back here, I can't grab one either". Odd, but fine. I ordered a frozen strawberry daiquiri, and was told "we don't have frozen drinks back here, but I can go grab it for you!". Sure, thanks. It was average at best; it was a ~16oz cup with what tasted like .5 shot of liquor. For $13, pretty weak and not what I'd expect. Next, two male bartenders were making fun of a group of girls for simply being flustered. They asked where to go (wanted to go to the indoor bar) and were simply told "go straight"; they didn't quite understand what they meant, and as they were figuring it out, they were laughed at and ridiculed (not to their faces) to the point that I could hear the entire conversation that was ~6 feet away. You want to make fun of your customers? Sure, but don't do it within ear shot of others. Lastly, an older man walked up to the bar about 5 minutes after I received my daiquiri. Guess what he ordered? A tea for his wife, and an alcoholic beverage for himself. Sound familiar? He was instantly served both beverages with a smile. Paid my tab, left, and will not be back. read more
