The breast was rendered and you got some crispy skin and a somewhat tender bite. What it did not pair well with was the red lentils and beets. The lentils and beets together tasted odd and did no compliment the duck. We had a side order of the fingerling potatoes and was delighted. It had a nice slightly crispy outside and soft inside. Our first course was arincini. I've had this several times in my life, each worse than the last, and I kept telling myself that one day I would like it. My Little Italia was that day for me. Highly recommend. We shared an entree of browned butter sage gnocchi with (light) truffles. Watching the chef prepare this in front of us (a perk of the bar seats) was a treat. Eating it was better. The creamy soaked up the sage and truffles in perfect balance. The gnocchi was lightly fried then sautéed so it had a slight crunchy, wonderfully browned exterior. For a restaurant found on a whim in a city we've never been to, this was more than we could have asked for, and the attentive staff made the experience all the better. We finished off with the best tiramisu I've had the pleasure of devouring. I'm not a chef or a food critic, so I won't pretend to be able to describe the flavors we experienced, but I have had a lot of good Italian in my life (ie, in Rome), and I know this place was special.
