There's always something going on and the chances are you'll come away with your arms laden with treasures. You can practically see the dollar signs covering your eyes after you take it all to the Antiques Roadshow. This never happens. The Grand Charity Flea Markets are the best events to attend. It's here that books and videos are sold by the tonne, as well as household bric-a-brac, furniture, collectibles and a whole lot of crap. The fact the admission fee is a laughably small 30p makes it seem like something from the 1940s and is another jewel in the crown of the lane.

The community association is a registered charity which is run by its members. It is the heart of Lark Lane. Many different groups use the centre including self help groups, after school groups, pre-school groups, sports groups and tarde unions. Many different events take place at the centre such as polling day, jumble sales, flea markets, fairs, music events, exhibitions, record fairs and public enquiries. The building used to be the police station on lark lane and is often referred to as the Oid Police Station by locals. It seems that in this day and age we have forgotten the meaning of the word community. If you need reminding of this then check out the St. Michael's and Lark Lane Community Assosiation.

Do not use this club EVER!! Used this club for my mum's…read morefuneral and it was a total shambles. The "manager" Eileen (I use her official title, but she couldn't manage anything) was absolutely unprepared after arranging the booking personally over the phone. There was nobody to open up the club to let the caterer in before we arrived, so the food wasn't ready. I'm fact, Eileen was only just opening up as we arrived back from the crematorium. There were no tables set up for the caterer as planned. None of the bar staff turned up, so the queue for the bar was ridiculous and our friends, who should have been sitting with the family to reminisce and condole each other, spent the whole time collecting and washing glasses to keep the place going. They provided no tea/coffee facilities and, when we said we would bring our own, we're told not to bring too much because Eileen didn't want people drinking tea instead of buying alcohol at the bar! The toilets were a disgrace. We were overcharged on rounds of drinks and then, to top it all off, Eileen decided to close the place at 6 pm with no warning and after assuring us it would stay open "as long as people were still spending at the bar"! She said she had been contacted by the area manager and told she had to go the another club in Crosby! We then had to phone around local hotels and pubs to ask if they could accommodate over 100 mourners at short notice, which was totally humiliating for the family and showed a total lack of respect for my mum's memory. She didn't even apologise, just gave me the area managers number and told me to phone her the following Monday. Bearing in mind that this is supposed to be a parish community club, Eileen showed no sense of community spirit or empathy for our family and no dignity towards my mum. This woman is not management material and this club is a place to avoid for any gatherings!! Since this happened we have heard many other similar stories and complaints about the club since the management was changed and had we known this, we would never have used it. AVOID THIS PLACE!!
