LOCATION: The cafe is in the Franziskanerplatz in the inner city, a perfect stop for those exploring Vienna. EXPERIENCE: I entered this cafe for a supper one late afternoon. As the name suggests, the cafe is small, making for a cozy feeling. I enjoyed a sliced ham sandwich (Schinkenbrot) which brought to mind how outside the U.S. even something as mundane as an open-faced sandwich is prepared and presented to make the best of the ingredients. A layer of ground horseradish was spread on the long slice of bread, and the attractively folded layers of ham were topped with freshly grated cheese. SERVICE: I experienced swift and efficient service during my visit. TIPS: The cafe only accepts cash.
