Toppings can vary depending on the day, but I normally like to mix both a tomato based sauce and white sauce pie. So therefore always a group venture. Diavola was a show stopper. A tomato based sauce with Fior di latte cheese and perfectly crisp pepperoni. Not gonna lie, I ate 3/4 of the pie on my own. Bianca was a white sauce with Fior di Latte and uniquely a lemon preserve. Pretty distinct citrus flavor so not sure how many of you will relate to it. Very unique flavoring. Had 2 slices but not a pie you can eat alone in my opinion. I want to preface the review that I didn't get to dine in this time but ended up taking my pies to go. It's a smaller location so it can get packed but to avoid the crowds you can just take it to go. I ended up trying both a white/red sauce pizza (margherita and funghi). I will say they aren't the cheapest pies around at ~$26 each for a 12 inch pie but the ingredients are really fresh. Even to go, the pie held up pretty well and the crust didn't get soggy. They don't skimp on the toppings either so I did feel satisfied eating the two pies. I enjoyed both and i'm a mushroom gal so thought the funghi would be my favorite but I was pleasantly surprised by the margherita with bufala. Yum! This is my 3rd time here and one of my absolute favorite pizza spots. There's a reason they rank top 2 in the USA... it's honestly well deserved!! The place is small so if you want to do a walk in be prepared to wait, but the wait is honestly so random. One time I got in 25 minutes later and next time 45 minutes. First time, I got takeout and was honestly disappointed. The pizza got cold during the 12 minute walk back to my apartment and it just didn't hit the same because it wasn't fresh. Second time, we did a walk-in on a Sunday and somehow got really lucky. Waited about 20 minutes at a nearby coffee shop because of cancellations. We got the Margherita special and Ruti's pizza, and both were out of this world. Especially the Margherita special... this is hands down my favorite pizza i've tried in LA. I tend to gravitate toward classic flavors and they did everything right with this one. The crust alone... probably the best Neapolitan dough I've had in my life. It's pillowy, soft, slightly chewy, and just has that perfect structure. Only thing to note is their pizzas are VERY floppy. Like... really floppy. So if that's not your thing, you might not love it as much. Ruti's pizza is a white base with soppressata, fresh arugula, and hot honey. The sweet and spicy combo worked really well, super balanced and not overwhelming. We also got the tricolor salad which was a great starter. Very fresh, bright, and tangy from the lemon dressing. It cuts through the heaviness of the pizza perfectly. Third time, we did another walk-in on a Saturday around 2:30 PM and got seated within 30 minutes. At this point I'm convinced I just have good luck with the wait times!! We ordered the mala lamb sausage, diavola, bianca, and tiramisu. My favorite this time was the bianca. It was lighter and acted as a really nice palate cleanser between the heavier pizzas. You can actually taste the lemon in it, which surprisingly I loved on pizza. Only thing is you have to eat it fast because once it cools down, the cheese solidifies pretty quickly. The mala lamb sausage is definitely a crowd favorite, but not my personal favorite.... It leans heavier and the lamb flavor comes through pretty strong. If you like bold flavors you'll probably love it, but I personally prefer something more classic and clean like the margherita or the bianca. The diavola was solid. The soppressata brought the right amount of spice and everything felt really balanced. And the tiramisu... I will always get this if I have room for dessert. It's a good portion size!! The place has a clean, minimal feel but still feels warm and welcoming. Ordered the Bismarck and the Diavola, plus an orange San Pellegrino Aranciata. The Bismarck was incredible. We had a reservation for 4 people that I fought to get exactly on the dot when reservations opened up, so it was a little frustrating when we arrived that they did not have a table ready for us. We were able to sit at the bar, which became available first, but this was not our preference. The very first bite of the pizzas was the best. But as it got colder, the quality and taste wasn't nearly as good as it was when it was fresh a couple minutes ago. The Patate pizza was a little too salty for me, but I did appreciate the bite when I drizzled truffle oil (ordered separately) on top. I wouldn't opt for this one next time. We also ordered the Bianca, which I was worried would be too similar in flavor to the Patate. But the flavors were distinct, likely due to the lemon flavor on the Bianca. This was so interesting and I really enjoyed it - this was my favorite and I would definitely order the Bianca again! We also ordered the Margherita which wasn't bad. It's probably recommended to eat this type of pizza with a fork and knife, but my whole party used our hands (as I'm sure others do too). So my gripe is that the middle of the pizza is too soggy and it flops when you're holding it. I have had Neopolitan pizza elsewhere that is sturdy enough to hold and eat it with your hands. This is a really popular Japanese pizza spot in Los Angeles, and I remember LOVING Japanese pizza when I visited Japan. I love that they also have really authentic Japanese-style pizza in LA because now whenever I crave it, I can just visit Pizzeria Sei! Their pizzas come out really quickly, so if you want to order take out, it'll probably only take half an hour for all of the pizza to bake. Read about the long lines and crazy wait, so we planned to come mid-afternoon. Arrived around 3-3:30pm on Sunday and luckily caught a lull where there were still a couple open tables left. We sat outside on the street -- pretty barebones setup and not the most comfortable since you're just breathing in car exhaust, but waiting for a table inside would've been an hour. Within 20 minutes of sitting down, a line going out the door had already formed. If you're looking to avoid a wait, come around 2-3pm! We ordered the margherita and the funghi. The margherita was pretty solid: bubbly crust with good char and a good ratio of mozzarella to tomato sauce. The tomato sauce wasn't anything special, but at least had the tanginess that lesser pizzas lack. Undercarriage was wonderfully thin and mostly held up against the toppings, although it was a tad too soggy even for a Neopolitan-style pie. The funghi was visually very appealing and shroomy. I wish they used varieties other than just boring crimini, but at least they weren't skimpy with the amount of mushrooms. Roasted garlic chunks added a nice kick. Unfortunately, the pie was too salty. Tried out the tiramisu for dessert, and it was also just pretty standard fare. Pies took about 20min to come out, so not too long for freshly-made pizza. The olives, garlic, and capers were excellent, and I loved how much sauce was on it. The pizza dough taste and texture was phenomenal across everything we ordered. I'm not sure I've had a more enjoyable pizza before. If looking for top notch pizza in Los Angeles, I don't think you can do better than Pizzeria Sei. It really does live up to the hype. Food aside, service is friendly, fast, and efficient. The ambiance really isn't much, but it's nice enough. The price point is relatively affordable and the portions are satisfying. I don't know if they underseasoned the pizza the day I went, but I thought it was lacking flavor. The only thing I smelled in there that got my attention was the mala lamb pizza. Every other pizza didn't get my attention. The funghi pizza is just raw sliced baby bella. I was expecting a deep mushroom taste, but the enormous amount of mushrooms gave it a palate of undercooked bland fungi. I only tasted the garlic confit. The slightly raw mushroom field overshadowed everything else, I barely tasted the cheese. I'm not sure what's going on here, but a lot of people liked it. Maybe I just got a bad one? There wasn't much olive oil on the mushrooms to bring out the flavor. 2.5/5 The diavola gave me a better impression of this place, but I was still chasing for more. For some reason even with the basil and olives, I mainly tasted chili flakes. Again there wasn't really an aroma of what I'd expect from high quality olive oil/basil/marinara. As someone who has been to Japan a total of one times (I mean it was for a month though) and have eaten pizza in Japan, I can safely say that I am a culinary expert when it comes to Japanese-style pizza. So please trust when I say that Pizzeria Sei is BETTER than any Japanese pizza I've had in Japan! The restaurant itself is small and has an open-kitchen concept coupled with moody lights; so basically perfect for intimate get-togethers. Seating is (mostly) based on reservation, so plan accordingly. I've been here about 3 times so I can safely say that my favorite pizza is the funghi pizza, followed closely by the potate. A friend snagged a reservation which is how I finally ended up at Pizzeria Sei. It was on a Thursday night for 9PM but what mattered most, I finally got to try the pizza and salad I've been hearing about for a while now. I'll start with parking. If you haven't been to the Pico area, know it can be challenging. There's street parking and a few public lots (just follow the signs). I managed to snag a space in the public lot across the street, but behind the building. Know though, that it's a pay meter where you enter what space you parked in. However, you can't see the space numbers thanks to the awesome job by the City of LA and the wonderful job they're doing but still making sure to charge. Anyway, I paid it and just picked a random number - after all, I did enter my license plate as something to reference. Walking in, the space is cramped and really doesn't have any ambiance. It's like empty room with limited seating. A counter and a few tables. Definitely not a spot for large groups. But, I do like the open kitchen concept where you can watch how and where the magic happens. Unfortunately, I was seated at one of the tables so I only got a glance when going to the restroom. The service was good. The size of the space makes it easy in my opinion as everyone is someone's line of sight. I enjoyed how the staff handled my extra - to go order making sure the timing of dropping the order wouldn't leave me with a cold pie when I got home. Friendly and attentive. On to the reason I was there. The pizza ... well, ordered a Caesar salad too as well as a Tiramisu but the pizzas: Bianca and Margherita. I enjoyed both, favoring the Bianca as I liked the lemon hits so if you don't, you may want to avoid. I did like the Margherita - simple and tasty, not overpowered by basil or drenched in olive oil. Came back for another pick up order. The restaurant was packed for dining in. They have very limited seating. This time the funghi crust was a bit burnt on the bottom, which I didn't enjoy. The toppings are the perfect combo though. The bianca was delicious, light, and lemony. It was something I'd want to eat on a pasta. The crust is soft and chewy and mochi. We went there because of the hype and I think it was worth it! Food: 5/5 The dough was exactly what you'd expect. Had a decent amount of bite, and was chewy in a good way. The pizzas all had distinct flavors. The mushroom one in particular made up for the lack of meat with garlic. Service: 5/5 We ordered to go and ate in our cars. It's hard to be blown away going to an award winning restaurant. Yet, I was blown away. I've had the fortune of traveling all over Italy trying pizza. I'd say this is squarely in the top 3 best pizzas I've ever had. And top 1-2 Caesar salads I've ever had as well! That I was truly shocked about. My rec: Margherita speciale and a Caesar salad. The special Margherita has a more delicate cheese that blends better with everything making nothing stick out. Heavenly. Thanks pizza sei, absolutely the best. Love the pizza . Staff is friendly . It's a small place I did a take out little tricky in finding it as it is in busy street you will pass it . I ordered a Margherita Pizza it was light and different. I will definitely go back. I wish they would add some gluten free options also read more

Very good but not life changing! The Japanese Neapolitan pizza style is the lightest, fluffiest crust I've ever had -- an experience that can't be replicated without an extremely high temperature oven. Funghi was fresh and light, whereas the mala lamb sausage was deeply nostalgic, juicy, and flavorful. The latter has my recommendation because it's a flavor profile you can't find on any other pizza. We waited 45 minutes as a walk-in for a party of 4 on a Monday during Christmas week, but I imagine this number is astronomically higher when all of the transplants are not out of town. Service is honestly kind of slow even though the pizzas themselves take around 2 minutes in the oven, so I'm a little confused? They stopped doing takeout by 6:15 and sold out of walk-ins by 7:30, and they were out of tiramisu by 6:30. Try to snag a reservation on Resy (the frequency at which reservations open is somewhere on their website) because it's a lot less painful than waiting in line. Parking is free after 6 though. I would come once for the experience but I don't know if I would do it again. I also really enjoyed Bon Appetit's video on their pizza omakase and I think it gave me a lot of insight to their preparation, and it's so uniquely LA how a Korean chef serves Japanese Neapolitan pizza in his own style! read more

I don't get the hype of this place... I managed to get reservations on Resy a few weeks prior, and they let us sit a few minutes earlier which was good (and why I'm giving 2 stars instead of 1) but the restaurant is TINY and feels super cramped... we had 3 peeps and they literally added a chair to a table for 2 so I felt like there was not enough table space. It feels chaotic in there with servers dropping cups and stuff all around and service just seemed kind of rude with an attitude.... We started with the giardinera which is a small owl filled with veggies in olive oil & vinegar - lots of onions, olives, carrots etc... and it came with some hard, toasted small bread slices... it was good but nothing amazing.... For pizza, we ordered the funghi, Bianca and marinara...I think the marinara was the best and most unique with lots of tomato sauce and garlic but for some reason didn't come out for a LONG time.... It would've been nice to enjoy it with the other white sauced pizzas...which were good but nothing special or to rave about.... We were almost done with the funghi and Bianca so I asked where the marinara was and the server said she had to check.... Then came back to say it was waiting in queue to be put in the oven.... **MY FAVORITE LA PIZZERIA** PARKING Metered street parking, two-hour limit. Plan accordingly. AMBIANCE Bare-bones, a little stale, and tight. About 12-ish counter seats total, but you get a clear view of the pizza-making, which is the only thing that matters here. FOOD Margherita - $24 Classic build: San Marzano tomatoes, fior di latte, basil, EVOO, sea salt. I wanted more crunch with that chewy pull. It skewed soft, which knocks it down a notch, but the dough quality is undeniable. Rating: 4/5 Tiramisu - $10 The real deal. Creamy, coffee-soaked lady fingers, not cloying, no nonsense. Exactly how tiramisu should be. Rating: 5/5 OVERALL No hype, no gimmicks. Just straightforward, well-executed pizza. Still my favorite LA pizzeria so far. I'll be back. read more

My friend and I loooove pizza, so we decided to go visit a few popular pizza spots. We were really excited to try this place after hearing so many good things about it. An acclaimed pizzeria not just nationally, but globally, Pizzeria Sei is definitely worth a visit and easily one of my top spots for pizza in LA! The shop is small with limited seating, so would recommend making a reservation if planning to dine in. You can also order ahead of time on their website, but right now they're limiting online orders to 4 pizzas per order. If you get pizza to-go, their pizza is best enjoyed fresh so be prepared dig in shortly afterwards!
