Acqua is a pretty great spot to get your hair did in Guelph. It is an Aveda concept salon as well,…read morewhich comes along with a set of ideals and products that give the place a neat feel. Haircuts come with complimentary hot towel, scalp massage, and beverage (coffee/delicious herbal tea/Hot apple cider + spiced rum if you're lucky). I'm a guy so my haircuts aren't as complicated as many of the people reading this might be getting, but i can say that even for a simple "guy" cut, the stylists I have had take great care and have great attention to detail nonetheless. I have never been disappointed. Melissa is my regular hairdresser, but I'm sure the rest of the stylists are of the same calibre. I pay upwards of $25 for my haircut + wash. If you're a student, make sure to mention it, as there's a discount for this.

My roommate just went to get her hair done here and from her experience and how she was treated I…read morewould advise anyone to stay away from this place. She made an appointment over the phone clearly stating her budget and when she arrived she was quoted $450 for brown balayage, toner, and a cut. That is ridiculous!!! When she said she was not able to pay that, they offered to balayage her hair WITHOUT A TONER, for $300. They then went on to explain that a toner would be $80 extra and a cut $75 extra!! I would have walked out right away. That is not right in any way and you can tell they only care about the money and not about their clients. These people were about to let her walk out of there with untoned, wet hair before they offered a "complimentary" blowout. If they can let a client walk out of their salon with out toning their hair and at least drying it, that puts their reputation on the line as well and they so obviously do not care. TONER SHOULD BE INCLUDED ANY TIME HAIR IS BLEACHED. DO NOT GO HERE.

A cool place! I had my hair bleached, toned, and dyed a temporary colour. The salon is very nice…read moreand welcoming, and my student stylist was fun to talk to! The process took a couple hours (longer than I expected) and the price was higher than I thought was appropriate for the level of experience of my stylist. I loved the colour but it faded out very quickly to reveal an uneven bleaching and patchy blonde. I would be careful to specify what you want, and not let the salon "be creative" (which is what I had said). Overall a good experience, I would go back for a cut but not for another colouring.

I love this place because I can get a $25 wash and cut from their students (they can also style…read moreyour hair at the end of you wanted). Some people are worried about having students cut their hair but I've never had a problem and I have short hair that is easier to mess up. Service is always great. The moment you walk in they take your coat and offer you a beverage (coffee, tea, water). Everyone is friendly and welcoming. I'm not sure about walking in because I've always made appointments to avoid having to wait or being turned away because they can get busy. Downside is that it is located downtown and parking is always a pain. You also never know who you're gonna get so you won't know how good or experienced they are or how long they will take. But you can always request the same student or stylist if you're comfortable with that one person. I've had a fairly new student before who needed quite a lot of guidance from a senior stylist but I was fine with it. She did a good job and the stylist was great at teaching.

I'm happy I did this. I do not usually just pop into some other hair lotions for my own hair. Doing highlights is quite a time consuming and that I could see the way she loves her job. It's her passion. She assisted two other returning male clients with their own hair that they had been joyful. I booked an appointment ahead and I really do recommend you do this since Holly is extremely active. She's lots of returning clients. As soon as I came Holly greeted me away with my first name with a large grin. It was really welcoming. I showed her the image she'd ask some questions simply to confirm she knew it entirely. Holly has a fantastic memory she'd even remembered what fashion you'd from last time and offer you advice throughout. I am so happy I took the guts to try out this location and I am very happy. I'd defiantly return for the highlights!

Quite frankly Athena is advising everyone. But what was done to my mother is terrible. She didn't want to return after I was so upset but you guys did an amazing job on her. It looked beautiful everyone loved it as did she. Platinum hair, from grey black and the cut was amazing. So first issue, she makes an appointment writes it down, I was sitting right there when she did this and when she goes for the appointment they said she didn't have one. She worked all night stayed up goes in and they can't get the appointment in the computer. So she booked again and this was a nightmare, the stylist was late and there was no record of her ever being there so they said they don't know what was done. She should have left because if they can't figure it out from looking at her hair they are not qualified. Well when she walked in the door I was devastated for her, they darkened her roots the hair that was at the back of her neck was still black. The colour was yellow blonde. They said come in to fix but I don't blame her for not wanting, as her roots grow in she will have a brown stripe of one inch. Was it so hard to touch up roots an tone. I'll never step foot in fresh again, I wanted the brown removed and you gave me partial foils. So I still had brown and streaks which for me is horrible. Stylist should listen to the client, I want brown gone... I hate ombré... I'm going to hate baby silvers of blonde and still have my grey.
