SELCO is the sh*t! Friendly tellers greet you at every branch. They offer a never ending array of services, both tradition and innovative. I love that they'll make your debit card right there and then: no waiting weeks, no concern about it being mailed to an unsecured location. Oh, they're a credit union. That means no horrendous business practices that make you ashamed to have associated with them. They're out to safe guard you funds, not frolic with them. They leave the latter up to you. read more

This credit union has gotten "too big for their britches". SELCO was humble years ago and unpretentious but like everyone else they are all about making money and nothing else. They tried to actually charge money to return coins! I think they dropped that policy. I am charged 3.00 a pop if I am overdrawn in checking and they have to move to savings...must me rough to do that huh?! They spend shit loads of money on stylish buildings and their COMMERCIALS ARE PISSING ME OFF! I don't need this crap. I'm pretty sure their practices are illegal. I got a loan through them. They rushed me through signing on an iPad. A few months later I got a notice saying they were going to charge me an extra $2,000 because they did not get my insurance information. I called my agent he said he had documentation showing that he submitted it. He spoke with a manager and we thought it was sorted out. Last week I received my statement and they reversed some of the fees but still charged me $600 for insurance and admin fees. I reached out they said they would reverse it but couldn't reverse the admin fee. On top of all this when they had me sign for the loan they added disability and life insurance to my loan without telling me. This is super frustrating. They had me wait for two hours before I could sign then they slipped that in there without telling me. When I asked a representative about it she said it could be canceled, but she could not reverse what they have already charged me. My advise would be to go anywhere else. read more

This company has no heart.... Everytime I spoke to a coustomer service rep it was something different everytime. Let me start by saying I had a 48mo auto loan from which I have paid off in full at 25mo. Paid off well in advance how ever this month they reported 2 late payments and increased my loan 6 dollers dropping my cridet score drastically. Whcich disqualified me from my home loan. I have 3 babies single mother I moved out of our home, because I was qualified for this home loan. The day we went to sign papers I was informed I was disqualified. I reached out to selco I informed them I am homeless, I litrally was signing papers to purchase a home. And asked them if they could retract the report to the cridet buearu. Stating my loan is paid off 2 years in advance. In addition thier coustomer service rep told me if I made a large payment and wrote on the memo line spacificly I would not be penalized the following month. When I say large I mean 5,000. Leaving 800.doller left in march I sent 3 checks via bill pay which posted to my account but apparently did not show up on time even though the money was out of my account. They stated NO, no they won't pull back the derogatory remarks so I can get my loan and my family won't be homeless ON A LOAN THAT IS PAID OFF 2 YRS IN ADVANCE. So much for for paying my loan off the think I'd I didn't even need to pay them off this early my home loan didn't even count them in my debt ratio. But I wanted to ensure and do the responsible thing and pay them off before taking on more. I will never work with this company again. And urge no one else to. I am a great costumer and have paid them off 2 yrs early and they are the sole reason I will remain homeless. read more

I should have heeded my gut on this. A week ago I called Selco about a HELOC, and the young lady that I spoke to while friendly, did not know some pretty basic things about their product. She put me on hold several times and came back with answers, so I thought (ok shes new) except the answers turned about to not be quite right either. Repayment terms, Debt to Income ratios, important things Despite the warning signs, I went into the Harlow branch and applied. The young man taking the application was nice enough but never during the application process was I asked exactly what my gross monthly income was, never asked if I had any additional income.I did hand the guy my last couple pay stubs at the start (maybe he assumed that is all I had, I also mentioned owning a business) I figured I would hear from the Loan Officers if they had any further questions. Today I get a call from the young man who took my application and was told I was denied because of Debt to Income ratio, and he ended the call. If they wanted my business, he would have been trained to ask at that point "Is there any additional income to consider, would you like to add a joint to your application?" 2017 went in to the bank in North Bend to make my payment's for my car and credit card payments . instead i get a 30 to 60 day late fees and my credit score has red x marks against me because of them. Also don't get a car loan thru them they screw you when you go to pay it off, you get a pay off amount from one bank and the main bank decides to add hidden fees so your charged more and 30 to 60 days later and your credit is bad because of this. Not good when they cut your cards off while out of town, on a friday, and you cant speak to anyone until monday afternoon. That happening 3 times over the years. PREDATORY BANKING PRACTICES. They're great if you have plenty of money. But if you live paycheck to paycheck, their banking practices target you as another line of revenue. INSTANT nsf fees - every other bank I've been with gives you to the end of the business day to cover any overages, but not them. So too bad if you make even a slight math error or forget an autopay, you have NO opportunity to make it right - INSTANT nsf fee. Our direct deposits are often not available as early as our coworkers, and often not even the same day. This last Labor Day my husband's coworkers had their direct deposits available the Friday before, we had to wait until the Tuesday after. One morning my direct deposit wasn't available until after 8am, I had an autopay hit MINUTES before the deposit was available and was charged an nsf fee. I have to keep my accounts open as we have an auto loan through them, but I'm moving all of my other banking elsewhere. read more

Utterly inferior to Forest Park Federal Credit Union. Earlier this year our CU of 10 years was bought out by Selco. Ive had nothing but heartache and trouble from these people. They cancelled my 9% fixed no-monthly payment Credit Card, without my consent. They then gave me a 13.25% variable CC (which has a monthly min they didnt inform me about), without my consent. They also wiped out all of my electronic records and cannot obtain them for me, so now I have no way to confirm what ALL of my medical deductions for 2012 will be.... GREAT. I dont keep paper copies in the house, its a security issue, and didnt need to because they were available digitally online. Then they also wiped out my electronic monthly checking and savings statements. Gone. To get access to them I have to pay $1 a page. Its $3-5 a month fee to look at my own records over the past years if I need them. Each time I have called someone at Selco, they have gotten short and snarky with me *without exception* when I try to ask questions about why all of this happened and what I can do to fix it. Just not polite, they interrupt, try to control the conversation and are not very clear. "We cant save your records because your FP CC was actually held by SIS". I ask, "Then why didnt you save my past 10 years of savings or checking records, if its because 'due to outside companies'"? More snarky impatient replies. I used to be able to call the same loan officer at Forest Park each time we were going to buy a car, or a house, and deal with the same person who knew our history, knew our family, and how we were. Last time I bought a car, they gave me the check and took no information, and asked me to just bring the car on by tomorrow so they could get the VIN etc. Banking is all about relationships. Now, I can not even call the branch I want to, where I used to know each teller by name and what was happening in their lives. I just get some random person off a main line. For a loan, I get a random person as well. How is this professional banking??? I'm a polite guy, I never raise my voice and I do not speak unkindly, not for any reason - and I've been tested over the years. I cannot understand why the Selco people have been such jerks to those of us having difficulty with the FP transfer/buyout... I liked using Forest Park because it was intimate, caring, and professional. The people there have always been nothing short of excellent, kind, and caring. Ive never seen different. Today after another bout of impatient snarky Selco rep now explaining to me that I DO have a monthly minimum on my CC AND the 0% interest transfer balance they promised is non existant.. Ive decided to just move everything over to the Chase accounts we've also kept. It may not be as awesome as Forest Park was, but at least I can call the same loan officer directly any time I need to, deal with the same very polite, warm and professional person each time, and build up a relationship as I should be able to with my bank. read more

If you want an antiquated way of banking, Selco is great. I prefer more locations, online banking, and customer service that is actually able to DO SOMETHING. I would not recommend Selco to anyone under the age of 75. read more

I deposited the check by Mobil deposit, it went through and 9 days later they told me that image is unreadable and withdraw money out of my checking and savings account putting me at $0.00 at 5 pm on Friday night before holiday weekend without notifying me about it by email or by text. Call services were less than helpful and make me feel that it is my fault all around. If you cannot support your mobile services than just take it out and not offer as an option. Now I cannot access my money at least till Tuesday after the holidays. read more

The only reason I ended up with SELCO is because my previous credit union was bought with them. Ever since they took possession of the vehicle loan that I had before SELCO I only experienced problems with them. In the end, after I paid my loan off, SELCO could not mail me my vehicle title for more than two months. In fact i still don't have it. They've event stated multiple times that they mailed me the documents on different occasions. In the end nothing made sense and quite frankly their customer service and management simply don't care. I support local businesses and credit unions and I've been with many for years. However, SELCO is just terrible at taking care of its customers. read more

This has been my main bank for well over 9 years now. I have everything with them. Occasionally (maybe one a year) I overdraw my account. But a quick call in or stop in and no more over draft fee. I have great interests on all my accounts and I have NEVER had a problem with them. It's pretty much a great bank. I've had mixed experiences with customer service. The representatives are always professional and in the end I get the result I am hoping for, but sometimes it's a process. Overall I like that it is a local credit union, never has long wait times on the phone or in person, and has cheap international transaction fees when using the card abroad. I have lived overseas for much of the last few years and honestly should probably switch to a bank that caters to that more because Selco just can't keep up. Simple things like needing a phone number that you can be reached at, yet they don't make international calls. My number was always entered incorrectly because it can't handle +country codes. Whenever I am away I always give my mom my bank account information so that if Visa fraud calls to confirm a purchase, she can authorize it. It's totally BS - if I actually used my card to purchase something in Kyrgyzstan, how could I be answering a call to my US landline number hours later to verify? Last year I had to make a substantial wire transfer to my landlord in Italy and the woman who helped me set it up didn't communicate the exchange rate correctly. She googled the dollar to Euro XR and quoted me that, even though the actual rate Selco applies is very unfavorable (that's normal, so it should have been a red flag when she quoted me a fair rate). I ended up losing ~$120 due to the difference in XR quoted. When I explained this to the customer service rep, she just flat out did not understand what went wrong. I was kind of shocked that someone who works at a bank doesn't understand basic financial and economic principles, but I guess you don't need to study that to do 99% of the job well. In the end though, she refunded me the $120 lost and even though it took forever on the phone, I was thankful Selco righted the wrong. For US transactions Selco is great! It really is banking made easy and props for being the best local credit union (byeee OCCU). For use overseas, I may need to reconsider. read more

I've been with SELCO for over twenty years and I always get good service, both on the phone and in person; many times the have gone the extra mile for me; even if an error was mine; having read some of the negative reviews like the inconvenience of a broken atm (which has also inconvenienced me as well) all I can say is that times are rough on planet earth right now and customer loyalty is a two way street; we really do not know what another person or organization is dealing with inwardly or "environmentally". For me the most important element in all transactions is the human connection and I have never experienced a lessening in this area with SELCO and I always tell others how glad they are my credit union. I suggest that when one experiences negative changes in a relationship that has always served one well there are three things that may be helpful (win/win). One is to ask questions concerning the emergent problems an other is to make suggestions and the third is to ask for feedback as well as give it. A credit union may be an ideal venue to exercise these approaches as one is, literally a member of that organization and can go to meetings as a member of that organization. Thinking about what I have written here I think I am going to take my own advice the next time I have a concern with my credit union SELCO. If we don't want all exchanges to be "just about money and the convenience that money can buy than we need to be people first and engage on a human and individual level. If we still do not experience a reciprocal response we should then withdraw from a relationship that is unresponsive to our needs as a human. read more

When I moved from Bend to Denver, I kept my account with Selco. Not only is their service always reliable, but they pay far better interest on savings than my credit union here in Denver where I keep a small amount deposited. That I can bank long distance without a hitch is a big plus. Unless that changes, I will gladly remain with Selco. read more

If you are thinking about using Selco for any type of loan, don't do it!! I do not bank with Selco but we have a car and trailer financed through them for years. I enrolled in online banking so I could check balances and things like that. I stupidly chose to receive estatements. I choose estatements for all my bills/accounts because I hate all the extra mail. Well every time I've ever tried to log on it wont work, so I try the "forgot password" but in order to do that it wants my member ID number.... Guess what I don't know what that is because the emails I get only have the last 4 digits! I check my email and it says if you need to re-enroll in online banking to click here and follow the prompts..... Guess what, I need my member number again! Seriously?? Why is there no other way to recover your log in info? How many people actually keep all their account numbers written down for loans? I shouldn't have to wait until "business hours" to call and speak to someone. My bank is 24/7, I can call at 3 in the morning and be able to get what I need done, done. How about let me use my social security number to recover info! I'm just so frustrated! And you don't even have "business hours" on Sunday! #@*&$@!!! read more

I've been with Selco Community Credit Union for over 9 years after experiences with WAMU, US Bank, Key Bank. Selco is the BEST!!!! I never have a problem with my accounts accuracy, like I did @ WAMU. Key Bank likes to "hold" money for a long time on deposits and US Bank was just a joke a long time ago, don't know if they've improved. Left a mega bank and went to SELCO and boy am I happy!! New mortgage at lower rate. Car financed there, credit card there now too. One minor complaint is the online banking is clunky but as they grow, they will probably fix that. If you want a mortgage, ask for Faye ... she is TOPS!!! read more

I've had Selco for eight years. Open an account when I was in high school. Selco wouldn't offer me a car loan. I had to open with Onpoint CU and transfer my auto loan. Eight yrs and they charge for transfer from credit card to checking 3 bucks! Selco was good once but now charge for everything. Also charge for cashiers checks and First Tech cu doesn't.
