Located at La Consolacion Street near the National Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe, the health center is open from 8:00am to 12:00 noon and then from 1:00pm to 5:00pm, Mondays to Fridays. Admittedly, I haven't personally tried this health center's services yet because I really have no reason to go to a hospital or see a doctor. However, many of my neighborhood friends have taken advantage of this local government institution, particularly during their pregnancies. The pre-natal checkups are free, but you need to pay a nominal amount for a normal delivery at the lying-in clinic. Certain vaccines for newborn babies are also free of charge. If you live in Guadalupe Nuevo or nearby areas, this is a place to go to if you just need basic health services like having your blood pressure monitored, getting more information about family planning, or having your regular dental check up.

The center is a service offered in selected Robinson's malls, and it is intended as a one-stop shop for government transactions, including Philhealth, SSS, Pag-ibig, and NBI. Anyway, I had the first taste of this convenience when I had to apply for an NBI clearance for work recently. I applied and provided my details online, paid through a payment center (LBC in my case as there's one near me), then went to the Lingkod Pinoy Center to pick up my form. Lo and behold, there was no line at the NBI booth. I shuddered in horror as I recalled the last time I applied for an NBI clearance (in 2008, I think). That time, I had to line up for HOURS in the non-air-conditioned (read: SWELTERING HOT) NBI office in Quiapo. By the time I had to have my photo taken for the form, I was already looking like an unkempt murderer. Anyway, at the Lingkod Pinoy Center, I was asked to have my fingerprints recorded (using a fingerprint scanner so none of the messy ink here, yay!), had my picture taken, and instructed to come back a week after for my document. Boo on that last one! I had expected my clearance to be released instantly, but perhaps they're still working on that. The Lingkod Pinoy Center at Robinson's Place is located near the Sun Cellular shop at the Pedro Gil Wing. There's a tarp and stairs going down to the Basement Parking. The SSS and Pag-ibig booths were a bit more crowded so prepare for a line of maybe 10-20 people. It could get hot there, though there are electric fans, so it may be best to bring your own fan and keep hydrated.

I have had too many bad experiences in different city halls (QC, Makati and Mandaluyong, to be…read morespecific) so I was extremely surprised when I arrived at the San Juan City Hall. The city hall can easily been seen from Pinaglabanan Street. It is also not difficult to park here since there is ample space provided for vehicles. Since they had just moved to this location, everything looks clean and new. The facade alone already looks welcoming and inviting. Upon entering, there is a reception desk with 2-3 employees ready to assist those who approach them. The lady I spoke to quickly directed me to the windows I needed to go to. I love how the building is well-lit and airy. It did not feel cramped or dirty like other city halls. They also have specific windows with proper numbers and labels for specific needs (i.e. a specific window for getting your cedula, another window for property tax, another window for barangay clearance, etc.). Another plus is that you can pay for what you need at that specific window. No need to go to a centralized cashier and go back to the previous window. This saved me so much time! I went there to get my cedula (CTC) and to pay property tax and I was out of there in 15 minutes! Their staff were efficient and did not dare ask for any money beyond what I had to pay for. (BIG disapointment in other city halls!!!) Another big plus for them was their well-kept restrooms. I have never been to a government office with an extremely clean restroom. ;) Kudos to their janitors who maintain them! I was so thrilled with my experience here that I no longer dread having to go back after a year for my annual errands. I really hope they maintain this and act as a model for other city halls as well.

White Cross Children's Home will always hold a special place in my heart. My mom has been…read morevolunteering here for almost 10 years now. I've also visited the place a couple of times and met a few caregivers and kids especially when there's an event. There's that special burst of joy when you see the kids. You'll notice from their faces that they're so happy to meet you and that they've been longing for that warm hug and love from another person. That is something they've been deprived of ever since they were born. We also did an outreach program during our PI100 as a project. It was a totally different feeling because you get to know the children more by playing games and engaging on small talks with them. There's always gonna be that lighthearted feeling at the end of every visit at White Cross because you also get to experience what it is like to be a kid back again when you put yourself in their shoes. Despite of the kind of love that they were deprived of, these children will always have this hope inside their hearts that there are people out there who are more than willing and more than glad to give them that love they long for and deserve.

Ours is located here in Dasmariñas, Cavite, a few minutes drive from SM City Dasmariñas. The serene place, greenery, fresh air, and the security is evident. My kids thought it's a park they can play around . We usually come to visit there before and after peak season to evade the rush of people coming in for their loved ones too. The common thought is that being there is a place for those who can afford only. Well, not all but preparation for this inevitable moment of our lives one must secure and ready for our resting place, a sign of respect we deserve when we are no longer live. Planning to buy one more slot in the near future.

He was very old and…read moreI'm grateful that he was released from his suffering/low quality of life, although somebody dying is almost always a tragic affair. The Manila Memorial Park in Manila was full or we couldn't find an adequate space, so my family ended up burying him in the Dasmariñas, Cavite branch. I'm glad as it's spacious here and we were afforded a lot of space that we were able to build a comfortable area for us to eat in and honor his memory whenever we pay a visit.
