For a simple, married filing separately 2024 state and federal return, I was charged $470. My return had no itemized deductions or capital gains/losses and was quite straightforward. A supervisor justified the fee solely on the grounds that the preparer was a CPA. He also said that for all new clients, the minimum tax preparation fee was $600. I will be doing my own taxes with TurboTax going forward and I suggest that others shop around before committing tax work to this firm.
