The decor is not extravegant but more than serves it's purpose and could be called homely. The staff are fine - none overly friendly or welcoming but helpful enough if you seek them out. No room service is offered, which is one way of keeping the cost of an overnight stay low. There is a carvery restaraunt opposite which is fairly priced and serves alcohol if you fancy some dinner or even just a night cap. In all, this place does the job it should - somewhere cheap to sleep for a night or two without any frills but that is reflected in the price of a nights stay - around £50.

We had no problem parking our car there, and were welcomed right away and shown to our room. The property is close enough to walk to the town easily. There's a pub very close to it as well if you don't feel like walking too much haha. They had maps of the town and helpful suggestions for us. The breakfast was delish. Nothing bad to say about it, a very British bed & breakfast experience, which is exactly what we wanted. They have a very cute dog too! This review is a bit messy and I might add to it later but I just realised now, while sorting out old reservation emails, that I hadn't given them a Yelp review and thought it was a shame.

They will answer your email quickly if you have any questions when booking your reservation, as well as send you a confirmation email a few days before you arrive. We came here for the 2017 AIMS Summer Music course in Eastbourne College and loved the convenience of having the Birley Centre directly across from the hotel and the rest of the classrooms one or two blocks away. The cleaning staff were friendly and helpful, although a little absent minded at times (they forgot to refill our toilet paper a few times during our one week stay). On the main floor, there is an electronic piano that saved my life on a few occasions when the practice rooms in the Birley Centre were locked. Overall, I would definitely return on my next trip to Eastbourne!

The room too, hadn't changed. Everything you would need including hair dryer, ironing board and iron (my partner loved that LOL), flat screen TV, telephone, tea/coffee making. Comfy bed with plenty of pillows. Bathroom a decent size with shower over the bath. Breakfast was brilliant. Again, everything you could want. From cold continental breakfast to a full range of cooked repast. Most of the staff are Eastern European and extremely hard working and very friendly. For its price this hotel was a good deal. OK, downside. It needs a makeover. Very old and tired. As I said, I remember it from half a century ago and it hadn't changed. Light in the room not working so quite dark. Toilet difficult to flush. But, repeat, a good deal.

We picked The Spa Hotel in Tunbridge Wells at it had availability and seemed to meet what we were looking for. We enjoyed the afternoon using the facilities such as the pool and steam rooms. The hotel bar was nice and we had a very enjoyable lunch. I enjoyed a De Stressed massage, which left me exceptionally relaxed. The massage really set me off on a good note and I was looking forward to the rest of the stay. However, this is really were the good things about our stay ended. The room we got, which was booked as a double premium suite was no where near what we would have expected for the rate we paid. The room was in the eaves and quite a bit cramped. As I am more so on the taller side, this was clearly going to lead to a few head bumps. Fortunately, those we amazingly avoided. That left us with the evening ahead. Unimpressed by the restaurants menu and high price, we set out down the road for the Pantiles and found a great couple of places. After returning and settling down for the evening, things really turned for worse. The air conditioner made noises every 30 minutes or so when it wasn't on that would wake you up. The bed was exceptionally small and only fit two people if one lay sideways. The ability to properly sleep in these conditions was just unachievable. After a very rough night and lack of sleep, the relaxing feeling that I had was long gone and replaced with extreme tiredness and plenty of soreness. We are exceptionally disappointed with what can only be referred to a terrible stay. This hotel really had the opportunity to be top notch, but it severely missed the target. Don't think we would likely stay here again.

I think it is denoted a four star but I've been to worse five star places! Trained, professional staff, upmarket facilities, groovy bar, loads of conference rooms and excellent cuisine. I live too close to ever need to stay there but otherwise this is an absolute asset to TW.
