Beautiful restaurant. We had the wagyu steak tour which was terrific. It's the best way to experience the different cuts. You also get all of the small sides (banchan ) with it and I really enjoyed the cucumbers. I will say, the latter two cuts of steak are more fatty, so if that's not your thing, try the ribeye or filet a-la-carte. While similar restaurants may have you participate in the cooking, that was not the case here as we were taken care of by the very capable hands of Soho. We had the brussel sprouts as a side along with the mushrooms. Both were tasty. It is topped off with a very refreshing house-made sorbet that was subtle, yet flavorful. Hubby and I dined with another couple last night at Soul Prime, and we were primed for good food! We knew we'd be going fancy (chose the wagyu tour at $99/person), and assumed we would get good value for the money, but that's where things fell short. I've said it before and I'll say it again - I put Great American Restaurants at the top in terms of service. Always professional, you always know what to expect: friendly, efficient, and classy. I hate to give poor marks for service at Soul Prime, but when you were paying over $115 per person, you assume your server will know how to interact with customers in a way that elevates the experience. What we got was the opposite. Instead of deftly serving out table and then disappearing into the background, our very sweet server showed her inexpeience right off the bat. She gave us a rundown of the the menu and then said, "Sorry, I know that was word vomit; hopefully that wasn't too much." Not not only was there nothing about her intro speech that warranted an apology, but please don't use the word 'vomit' anywhere near me before I embark on a delicious and large meal. I cringed - probably outwardly. And it wouldn't be the last time. The food was good, the bonchons fine. Definitely choose the brussel sprouts - they are the best we've ever had. Everything else was just good. The meat arrived and she began cooking it. To be fair, I realize it's a big job to be both the waitress and the tableside chef, but all the more reason to have a very experienced person doing this job (and maybe assign her a support person?). We've been to a lot of KBBQ places and seen it done quite efficiently. I think the problem here is that the restaurant has unnecessaryily burdened its servers with an image of suave tableside banter and explanations for everything, which slowed our waitress down as she moved between us and the two other tables she was serving. The result was that she apologized on multiple occasions for cooking our meat past the doneness we had requested. Yes, the $99 per person wagyu beef. Probably, none of us would have had a big issue with the doneness we received, but because she proffered an apology each time it became pretty cringy. There were even a few times that we wondered if she was suggesting that we could request a redo (we didn't try, so who knows?). But then at other times, it seemed she was just apologizing to apologize. So why apologize at all if there is no recourse offered to the customer ... and they aren't even complaining? Why not act like everything is going great?! We would have played along, no doubt. Clearly there's a psychology lesson here! Nothing was egregious. It was the emphasis of error that stood out. This happened at least four times during the meal. It put a burden on the guests - with a table bill of over $460 - to reassure the waitress that she was doing okay. It made us feel parental, which wasn't the feeling we were going for or we wouldn't have left the kid at home! The final apology arrived with the bill in the form of a cheesecake slice. It was good, but as our friend said, it felt like tip manipulation at that point. And again, why profusely apologize for minor slips in service when delivering this extra dessert? Just say, "Thanks for coming in tonight, here's a complimentary slice of our famous cheesecake!" It was taxing to hear yet another apology and to have to say over again, "Oh no, everything was great." Because at this point, we felt everything was not great, but only because she'd pointed it out at every turn. Were we really going to say, "You know, you're ruining our meal with all of these apologies?" Maybe it's a generational problem. I was tempted to give her some waitressing tips. As a teen, I waitressed in a nice restaurant, and I know that smooth service depends on being upbeat, positive, efficient, and in and out from the table without interrupting. In short, fake it till you make it. Word vomit and the recognition of it, will do you no good. Less said the better. Also, don't make me ask for rice three times. So, was the wagyu beef good? It was! Will be tempted to return? Nope! It is definitely a once in a lifetime experience. Now I can say I have had nice, juicy bites of wagyu beef and I am good to go. I would rather dine at a place where I will spend less money and get better service. Want good Korean BBQ? Stick to an all-you-can-eat place in Annandale or Fairfax where the service is brusque and the meats are unending. Be aware: Soul Prime is not AYCE. They are too fancy for that! It's still plenty of food, but at those prices, I might have liked to taste a little more...or at least had service that really impressed. Oh, and after she brought the bill and apologized for the fourth or fifth time, she also brought a QR code display for leaving reviews. Really? We're spending over 460 bucks and you want to beg me for a review? That just seemed a little sleezy. But here I am leaving one! read more

The drinks and service were fine but we were like the only ones in the place on a Thursday - not the lively setting we had hoped for. Best KBBQ place we've been to in the DMV. This is not an AYCE place. The meats are high quality and delicious! We opted for the Prime Tour (middle option). Each tour comes with banchan (Korean sided like kimchi), white rice, scallion salad, and a special side - each person gets to pick their own. I selected the triple corn cheese, others got the mushrooms and the beef/soybean stew. My wife lived in Korea for two years and she said the scallion salad and the soybean stew were the closest to the real thing she's had in the area. She was very impressed. Our server was amazing. I wish I remembered her name. So friendly and kept up with us. The place is a bit dark. The bathrooms especially are dark but the vibe is good. Again this is a nicer place not an Iron Age deal. With our group of 4, we all experienced the Seoul Steak Tour and Old Fashioned Flight. Every single item was delicious, including the sides and all the accompaniments (my favorite was the pickled radish). The marinated rib finger is a must have for me. We finished with the sorbet of the day and a complementary slice of the strawberry creme brûlée cheesecake. Such an excellent experience and huge inside! The staff cooks the meat for you which is nice and better to come on a less crowded night so they can watch your table better. It's so cute inside! They explain the menu well. They have kids options, which is a huge plus. The drinks were delicious - to include the menu of mocktails for the kids or those who don't drink. We ordered the Prime Steak tour which was $75 a person. This included Banchan, Scallion Salad, a choice of one side item per person and ice cream. The meat selection was: Dry Aged Ribeye, Dry Aged Ribeye Cap, Prime Short Rib and Marinated Prime Galbi. My favorite was Dry Aged Ribeye and Ribeye Cap. Very tender and juicy and cooked medium rare. The short rib was good but was disappointed with the marinated prime galbi- it was too tough and chewy. The kimchi pork stew and soybean brisket soups was so good, one of the best ones. The service was just outstanding! I highly recommend the Prime steak tour. The 4% Fairfax county food tax sucks, so you are paying 10% tax when you dine here, so that makes the Prime Steak tour price to $82.50 per person. read more

This was a whole new experience! I've been to many different Korean BBQs in the area and this was by far the most sophisticated experience I had. We decided to go for the prime stake tour since we wanted to eat Galbi which they did not have in the cheapest option. All of the options come with the Korean small dishes (Banchan), scallion salad, side dish of your choice and a dessert sorbet. Scallion salad was pretty good and I really enjoyed my side dish which I went for the soybean brisket stew. Banchan was nothing special to me as compared to other Korean restaurants. The service was really nice as others mentioned in their reviews. They really did a great job cooking the meat right. Dry aged ribeye was probably my favorite out of all 4 meats and it was so tender and delicious! I liked eating with a sprinkle of Maldon salt and it tasted sooo good! I was getting so full by the fourth meat and it is just my preference but the prime short rib was a little too heavy for my stomach that I could only eat very tiny slices. We were celebrating our anniversary and we had a complementary cheesecake which was really nice! I wish I could eat more because this cheesecake was absolutely delicious! Couple other things I wanted to note: -Unlike other Korean BBQ places, I came home without my hair smelling like a heavy smoke! LOL Maybe they use a special equipment? Thought it was very nice! -I was happy that I was able to bring my leftover stew back home. Outstanding service, excellent quality meats and ingredients, in an upscale steakhouse-feel environment. Seoul Prime is a great date night spot if you're looking to splurge a bit. The menu can be broken down into two parts: a la carte or the tours. A la carte being ordering individual steak cuts or Korean dishes, and the tours being their main selling point of Korean BBQ-style meats. Since it was my first time here I opted to do the prime tour (and because it included galbi). Each person at the table has to participate in the same tour if one person orders the tour at all. Each person also gets to select a side, and my table opted for the garlic lemon asparagus and the roasted wild mushrooms. The meats were great quality and cooked to the right requested temperature table side. The standout meats on the prime tour were the marinated galbi and the prime shortrib surprisingly despite also have two dry aged meats. The side of garlic lemon asparagus was a bit of a let down. They were cooked properly, but they didn't have much flavor; no lemon or garlic to be noticed. The wild mushrooms on the other hand were amazing! I'll go back just to get those again. Overall, it's a little pricey and catering towards a certain type of clientele (e.g., they have VIP wine lockers you can reserve and get your own nameplate for). If you want casual Korean BBQ, this is not the place. If you want something a little more upscale with an American steakhouse, then this fits that niche. read more

The ambiance is modern and elegant, soft lighting, dark and decorated interior. Their sides are definitely elevated, feels like a fusion of an American steak house and Korean bbq. You can't really go wrong with any of the appetizers either, but I strongly recommend the beef tartare and seafood pancake.
