This is my favorite location, it's constantly clean and the associates are real nice. I enjoyed testing many items here and found the testers to be clean, sharpened and what not. If you're a fan of Tarina Tarentino, it's got all of the items up for grabs and testers still hot out of the box for you to try. First time going to this Sephora and the workers were very helpful! Many of them asked me if I needed any help or asked if I needed any samples. A lot of the items that I wanted were in stock which made it very easy and quick for me to shop. When I wanted samples, the assistants were very nice in explaining how to use it and also gave me recommendations on other similar items to try out if I did not like the samples I got. It was pretty empty compared to the Valley Fair Sephora which made shopping quiet relaxing. Just to note- this store is a lot smaller than the Valley Fair Sephora. It does not have the Natasha Denona aisle. But they do have the mini palettes by the cashier! read more

I have been going to Sephora Oakridge for many years. I don't know why I never thought to write a review until now. Although what prompted this review is the experience a co-worker of mine had with the one over at Valley Fair. Let me start off by saying I am almost 40 and have been buying products from Oakridge Sephora for the better part of 15+ years. Every single time I have walked into that store I have been met with nothing but the friendliest, helpful and upbeat sales people I've ever met. They never pressure me to purchase anything above what I came in for and always go the extra mile to answer any inquiries I might have. Hence the reason they've earned my loyalty. Recently I went in and noticed they were out of my Kat Von D eyeshadow primer in "Eden" and the lady (sorry, no disrespect in not being able to recall the lady's name I am just terrible at remembering...remember I said, I'm almost 40..lol). The lady not only looked in the drawer directly under the display, but the adjacent ones just in case and also looked in the back. She didn't try to sell me anything else in lieu of, didn't make me feel irresponsible and my loss when I declined to having her place an order to send to my house. Totally catering and made sure I left there with a positive experience. I came into work that following week and had a discussion with a co-worker whom was looking for some concealer products. She asked me my thoughts and suggestions because she knows I like makeup. She said she walked into Sephora and was approached by a young salesperson whom did not skip a beat in pointing out all of her flaws and imperfections (lesson be learned young lady we all have them and if you think you don't you got a rude awakening coming). Then proceeded to sell all these products (without so much as showing her how to apply any of it) that she just HAD to have and with the personality my co-worker has she did not argue, after all, this is a professional reputable establishment and the world of makeup is nothing less than foreign to her. Least to say she left feeling bad about herself. She said that she probably wouldn't go back and that everything she feared Sephora was became a reality and her worst nightmare. After I listened to her story, I told her that the one I've always gone to is the one at Oakridge and don't think I have ever went in there and left there feeling like I was a gargoyle in comparison to everyone else and everyone that worked there. And I've graced my presence sans makeup there on quite a number of occasions and even though I wouldn't dare look in the mirror when I looked like that they never made me feel as if I wasn't up to par to shop there. I've worked a couple of customer service jobs and yes retail were a few of them and never pushed myself or product on anyone. I've always tried to listen to a person's need and tried to satisfy their inquiry or remedy their search the best I could. I always made sure that if I didn't know how to answer that I let the person know, apologize, and found someone that did. Why? Because I know how hard people work for their money. I know what it feels like to look in the mirror and have an off day and let's face it I am THEE best at giving myself a hard time I don't need some stranger to help me in that department. With that said, I advised my co-worker to try the one over at Oakridge and steer clear of the one at Valley Fair, parking is easier to find anyway, isn't as congested and is easier getting off and on the freeway from anyway. read more

This brand with their self-interested policies are NOT customer-first oriented. They take measures to protect their time if a customer's at fault, but will leave you in the lurch when they flat out fail you! Think twice about booking a make-up appointment for a major life event here. I SO wish I had read the reviews before booking a make-up appoint at Sephora Oakridge for my baby shower and entrusting them with a major life occasion, but I chose them because I had a holiday gift card to use. I booked 2 weeks in advance for a Saturday 10am appointment (opening time). I accepted THEIR cancellation/no-show/late policy terms and I also made a note in the booking comments that the make-up appointment was for my baby shower event that day. On the day of my baby shower, I arrived just before the doors opened. A few minutes past the hour, a lady (manager?) opened the doors. I let her know I had a 10am make-up appointment and she said the artist isn't there yet, but was on her way in. She got me started picking out lashes and had me sit at the make-up station. She helped other customers. 12 minutes later, I head to the register to get an update on where the artist is. The manager was on the phone so I let another rep know that I'm on a timeline AND i'm 7.5 months pregnant (i can only sit perfectly still for so long, etc). The rep says she'll get me started and walks me back to my station. She starts gathering products and the manager comes over and says she's so sorry, but the artist isn't going to make it due to an emergency, BUT she can make it at Noon!!!! Manager apologizes profusely and I tell her Noon is too late, the appointment is for my baby shower event, which starts early afternoon as most baby showers do. I had built in buffer time to run late but not to have the appt. pushed out 2 hours. No one else working that morning was qualified to do make-up so basically I was sh*t out of luck. Oh! but she did assure me I wouldn't be charged a cancellation fee?!! I left their store upset that morning, having lost precious time before my event just hours away, and figuring all I had time for was to get home and do my make-up myself. However, I wandered past the MAC Counter on my way out and told them my situation, and in tried-and-true fashion, MAC took me in last minute without an appointment and gave me a beautiful daytime look in just under an hour! I was super grateful to them for turning my frown upside down before my celebration event and most importantly, I looked and felt great for my event!! I Sephora! I'm like a kid in a candy store whenever I shop here. While this one is a little smaller than the one at Valley Fair, their customer service is a bit better. And like a previous reviewer mentioned, they don't follow you around like you're gonna steal makeup like they do at the Valley Fair store, which is great because I want to roam and get lost in lipglosses and skincare products without being tracked and constantly interrupted (hint: I am more likely to buy more stuff if I am not approached every three minutes). It's also less crowded and crazy than the Valley Fair store. However, the salespeople here are readily accessable and approachable so if you have a question, they are there and happy to help. This is the only Sephora that never has anyyyything for MONTHS. This past Tuesday I went in looking for a paint pot eyeliner. I immediately found a tester for the Bobbi Brown one and liked it a lot. There was just the tester though, no more paint pots, so I asked a worker if they had any in the back. She said "uhhh no. I know we don't. We haven't had that for months now and unfortunately I don't know when we will have it again..." I was kinda taken aback that she didn't even LOOK in the back but I trust her- they probably are out. But like... really MONTHS?? She directs me to another tester paint pot from Urban Decay and I liked it a lot! Then she looks at her phone or iPad thing and said "sorry we actually haven't had THAT one in months as well.. you know what we actually don't have any eyeliner paint pots at all at this location.." I was so confused and annoyed at this point that I just said okay. She tried selling me some cheap Sephora brand felt tip liner and I just told her I was leaving lol. This is the THIRD time I've been to this location and they've told me they HAVENT HAD A PRODUCT IN MONTHS!! Like at least get rid of the tester then?? You're getting my hopes up dude! read more

Finally spotted an employee wondering around and she completely turned her back to me. She then goes around a stand and helps another customer and looks at me and says do you need help? Hello everyone, went to Sephora just to check out some items that match my skin tone. After waiting more than 15 minutes for assistance from two employees having a conversation, I decided to cut their chat and ask for help. The employee who helped me was triggered by the fact that I happened to take a picture of an item, which maybe I accept that it's up them to decide what goes in the store, but I never saw a sign saying it wasn't allowed nor did anyone inform me of this policy. The employee proceeded to ask me if I was going to purchase the items in an irritated tone, this frankly made me feel pressured and rushed to take the items or leave. I made the choice to leave all my items due to poor customer service, so I tell the employee I wouldn't be purchasing them today, she then takes them from my hands without another word and walks off. On top of that there was not a single cashier at the cash register, with minutes of waiting just to buy a lipstick to make this trip at least somewhat worth the time, the employees continued their conversation.I really hope this store gets better customer service because this is no way to be handling your customers. read more

Far and away the rudest register staff and my least favorite Sephora. I love Sephora and I spend and absolutely ridiculous amount on products in store and online with this company. They carry brands I know and love, they carry brands I only know exist from beauty bloggers, and they have an incredible return policy that's very similar to my other favorite store, Nordstrom. They don't really advertise their incredible return policy, which is why I only found out about it in the last couple of months and while I've definitely returned a hearty amount of items that I wasn't happy with(and previously had not realized I could return), I've definitely ended up spending more money at Sephora because I know they stand by their products and your customer satisfaction enough to have such an incredible return policy. But that policy is somehow different here. And even when you have the receipt and the product has barely been touched, they refused to return some of my items and were actually pretty petty and condescending about it. I want to say I'll never shop here again but after thinking about it that really only punishes me and lets them off the hook for being snotty so you know what? Still gonna come here to the Blossom Hill location. For returns only. I'll let my in-store sales go to other more deserving locations like Burlingame, Palo Alto, or Walnut Creek who returned those same items with a smile and checked me out for my other purchases with ease and grace. read more

Messy messy messy Sephora! The samples all look busted and disgusting. I would never want to use any of them. Also, I noticed that they were suuuuper out of a lot of the products. Granted, I came in the day after Christmas and they're probably sold out of everything for good reason, but it was still a letdown since I got some Sephora giftcards for Christmas and wanted to use them today! It's rare that I come here without wanting to purchase something, but yesterday my main goal was to return an arm-full of impulse online purchases that soooo didn't work for me. Expecting a sigh or an eyeroll as I dumped my purchases onto the counter, the guy (yes, guy) who helped me at the register was nice and didn't even make me go through the whole "so, what's the reason for your return(s)?" - like they always have done at VF. Easy peasy. This one is also FAR less crowded too, and they don't breathe down your neck as you browse. It feels so odd to give a sephora 5 stars but I can't help it, the people and service here is the best out of all the sephoras I have been to! What I experienced: -no snobby associates or makeup artists. They were genuinely trying to help instead of watching over people. I saw them offering to help apply makeup to other customers. -greeted many many times from all the associates that I passed by. They were very helpful on finding a certain color and offered to try their products with their makeup brushes, etc - the associates at the fragrance section were phenomenal! Esp the guy, he was so patient with me trying so many perfumes because I needed a new signature scent for fall. Offered a sample because I wasn't able to find one that I fell in love (yet). -the disposable makeup sponges, wands, etc were all filled! The only con I can think of is that the makeup brand selections aren't as extensive as the bigger sephoras (i.e. anastasia only have brow products but no eyeshadows) BUT honestly I don't give a fuh if the selection is not super extensive, this is the first sephora that I don't feel like someone is judging me on how I do my makeup or stare like I'm trying to steal something. read more

Sephora! How I love you! But you are so dangerous to my wallet! Haha I don't frequent this mall often as I used to when my high school was just down the street. I'm not gonna lie. I was one of those Mall Rats in middle and high school. Embarassing... But hey! That was the place to hang out with your friends and go on movie dates lol Anyways, I usually go to the Sephora at Valleyfair because of convenience but I absolutely hate the service I get there. Most of them are Snobby or don't even approach you. But at this Sephora, they are the complete opposite. The last 3 times I've been here, I've been approached by just about every associate working at the store in a friendly and helpful manner. They're super friendly here, they actually help you find things, or want to try on makeup. They're really helpful. Even the floor manager approached me and she was very bubbly too! Idk I love this place. I've only been getting into makeup heavily recently (Super Dangerous) lol and I still consider myself a noob but I want and find everything so pretty, so I feel intimidated by those who are snobby to me :( but trust me these staff members aren't. If you have product questions, need recommendations, or would like to try a sample. This is your Sephora to go to! These ladies (and gents) here are the absolute sweetest! They always approach you instead of gossiping together and they always call for help if there is a line forming. Whenever I'm at a busier Sephora like Valley Fair, I always find myself looking for someone! Not at Sephora Oakridge! Well, today I went by there and like usual I just browser around, but sometimes I actually coming out with things I don't need. Somebody came and greeted us, that was great! Somehow I end up buying something, when I was ready to ring up the staff was just chatting making me wait until then realize the line behind is getting long. So, when the lady that was ringing me up, she give me the snooty look and a cold attitude. I didn't get it, I'm a paying customer. I have to say, I was really nervous walking into this Sephora location. I've read many stories about the sales people here being rude and make up not being in stock. I've been using bare escentuals for years and wanted to switch over to liquid make up. Of course being a BE user, I had no idea what to do with liquid make up. So I hopped out of bed in the morning, pre make up face and walked into Sephora for their "Express Makeover". Once I arrived there were a few sales/make up artists working the floor. NO one was in the store. I was afraid it would be crowded and I'd be fighting for a seat at the make over desk but no. No one was there shopping. I was stoked. I did my usual walk/scope the area around the store. I grabbed the first sales/make up artist I saw and asked her how I could get a make over. She told me she'd help me out. I told her I wanted the HD make up look using the Make Up Forever Line. Larissa, my MUA, matched my skin and went to work. She suggested all kinds of products to help me with my liquid foundation routine. The HD make up looked amazing. After my make over I asked her for suggestions on brushes and she pointed out a few. She saw me wander around the skincare line looking for the claire sonic brush and gave me the 411 on it. She noticed I got a sephora blush and told me to try out NARS instead because it lasted longer and the colors were better. I told her to leave me alone now because I was about to walk out with $500 worth of merchandise. She told me close my eyes and walk that way (to the cash register). I was right. I walked out with $320 dollars worth of make up minus the claire sonic brush (will go back for it later when I'm not broke). The products I was suggested to get during my make up consultation were in stock. Larissa, my MUA was amazing! So helpful and so nice. She made my shopping trip worth 5 stars. I absolutely love this SEPHORA LOCATION! I always buy something from here whenever Im in Oakridge. Its pretty much like every other Sephora but Im giving this store a 5 star for the excellent service. Whenever I need something, the associates really take their time to help you. And they do tell you if something wouldnt look good at your skin. Anyways, during my last visit, I was looking for primers. I have never used one before and I was absolutely clueless. I asked this girl (OMG I cant believe I forgot her name) and she asked me about my skin... etc. She explained everything to me (how to apply, moisturizer - primer - foundation) and she even gave me like 4 different samples that I can try home so I know which one will best work for my skin so I know next time what to buy. I always visit sephora when I'm at the mall. I'm instantly greeted by staff when I walk in and I'm asked if I needed help with anything. Usually I'm just looking at the products and trying the samples out on the back of my hand. The staff is extremely helpful when I have a question about a product. I was looking for a pressed powder and the employee showed me about 5 different brands to see which one I would like best. Also, the store is extremely clean and the layout is an easy flow. I really like Sephora as a company. They have great products with a ton of different things to try to get the look you want. The birthday gift is also a sweet touch! However, this location in Oakridge Mall is very iffy. The customer service is either hit or miss. Either I get a lot of attention and help to find what I want, or I get ignored because it's busy or whatever reason. If I know what I need and where it is in the store, I'll come here and just grab it ("better than sex" mascara by toofaced will change your life, you're welcome!). But the few times that I've gone in there to explore new items, I haven't been that lucky. Maybe it's the location or the set up of the store, but it's not very inviting to me. I've never asked the staff for any make-up applying tips so this review does not reflect that point. I find that if I go to Sephora in the morning I get impeccable service and attention. This store in particular have a few ladies who know about the products. Right when I walked in I was greeted warmly, even though I looked like a hobo in my sweats and environmentally friendly re-usable grocery bag hung on my shoulder. Unlike many MAC stores where you won't get a greeting or any help whatsoever without having a designer bag (LV or Gucci), ugh! I told the sales associate my preference for a perfume and she quickly gave me several wonderful choices that were perfect. On top of that, she kindly gave me a few perfume samples that I had requested. I think it is great shopping here because the employees arn't FML! I purchased my annual supply of cosmetics/skincare online during the VIB special event in November of 2012. I came in here for an even exchange since the colors I wanted for the cosmetic was sold out on Sephora's website. Fortunately, I had gone to the Valley Fair location the day before and made an exchange there for another product with no hiccups. I originally purchased this item using my VIB 15% discount (very rare occasion, it's ONLY available once a year, learned that the hard way. They won't help you even if you missed it by a day....) During the exchange transaction the Sephora associate said I owed $7 and some cents. I informed her politely that this is the same product and it should be an even exchange since I purchased it online with a discount code. She looked confused and tried to play around with her computer and still told me that it was the "authorized price" and that I would need to pay $7 extra. The whole point of being a VIB was that I shop at Sephora often enough that I get these special perks here and there along with the occasional gifts. Untrustworthy services. I purchased couple items last week and I opened the tissue he wrapped my items when I got home, one of the products was missing. Talked to the staff and she said her manager will call me back which never happened. I called them back 2days after, manager said the same thing that she will call me back after checking the camera in stuff. She never did. Oakridge Sephora, the staffs are not trained well and seems like managers don't care either. They are always busy talking to each other when customers are waiting for their help. I love Sephora but I hate this store. Aside from the store not being as large other bay area locations, this store has a good variety of products. The staff is friendly and helpful as they should be. However, the one reason I can't stand this store is that every time I come in, the cosmetic samples are a total mess-- chewed up, smeared, mixed, and unstraightened, and the makeup removers+ supplies are always empty. I'm unsure if they leave the products like this until the end if the night to avoid cleaning things over and over, but that's part of the job, in my opinion. It makes for an unpleasant experience for a customer who's looking to test products. If you know what you want, this store is ok to shop at, assuming they have the product in stock, but if you're looking to try things out or have a makeup lesson, go the location in Valley Fair Mall or Stanford Shopping Center. read more
