The employees at the store looked away from us (the ones by the door did not greet us), looked shock to see us, or with a look of contempt when we entered the store. We had never seen employees who treated customers like this. The three cashiers who were chatting by the counter stretched their hands to direct us to the head of queue while saying 'hi' to us as we were walking to the head of queue. They made us feel as though we did not know how to line up for the cashier. Moreover, some of them stood in the walkway chatting when we were trying to exit the store. So I said, "excuse me" and one of them looked annoyed and made a noise 'chi' with her mouth as she walked away. Wow. How could she have an attitude on customers like that? Then the employee by the entrance was blocking us from exiting the store with a few customers there. The employees at this location did not make us feel welcomed. read more

Solid place. I am an eCommerce Addict but there are some things you should do in-store. I booked here at the Robson location a few months ago and met an awesome beauty advisor who gave me her business card. She treated me like a serious customer, was super friendly and genuinely cared. When I rebooked again with her through email she took care of booking me through their reservation system. There's a beauty lounge on the 2nd floor to get your makeover done and I felt really special as my beauty advisor shuttled back and forth with different products from the floor. While I've had the custom 45 min makeover before I felt like it was nice to splurge on a full 90 mins with the higher minimum spend. This gives more time for them to do skincare to prep your skin as well as play with different makeup products. Then you get personalized front of the line checkout service. There was no pressure to buy and alternatives were offered if I didn't feel like splurging on a certain thing. The new look was awesome! My service was followed up by an email with all the products used and my advisor was very sincere and friendly. Thanks to Maxi for making me believe in Sephora's in-store experience again! read more

Sephora is my favorite store- this is the worst location. I've been a beauty VIB member for years and I get 99% of my skin care, hair and makeup from Sephora in the US and all over Canada. Just moved to Vancouver and been to this location twice. Today I asked a salesperson about a new hair care line and asked if I could sample because my hair is sensitive. She said "why don't buy the small sizes" ($40 each). I said I'd really like a small sample so I can be sure with my hair issues. She said "well, these are the smallest we have" and then just walked away! I have NEVER had a Sephora employee talk to me like that. I think this location needs better training. This is a big store on Robson and is usually busy. During the promo period, it is even worse. But to the staff credit, they are prepared for the crowd and will open up a secondary payment area away from the main cashier line. The catch is, you can only pay by credit card. On one occasion, they made a mistake with my purchase. So always check your receipt before leaving the store. I spoke with a staff/manager and they managed to do the necessary changes without me having to wait for too long. Being a bigger store, the selection is much wider but it also means things get sold out pretty quick too. I still pop in if I have time when shopping in Robson. read more

The employees are extremely rude and unhelpful. When I walked in, I wasn't greeted but instead my eye contact with an employee standing by the front not helping anyone or doing anything really. I needed help color matching and they said someone would be right with me and no one came. I also came into the store with no makeup on and the employees kept eyeing me like they were better than me. I have been to a few of the Sephora stores and generally am not impressed by the service. In the last instance, I was at the Robson st. location and had to go through two different people until one sales associate was assigned to me. That in itself was off putting. I don't need to waste time on a greeter and then get "triaged" by another person before actually getting someone to help me. When said associate showed me to her favourite powder, she choose a colour that was soooo off that it was laughable. I have mediterranean colouring and she chose the palest colour and was visibly shocked and surprised when I said no and choose a colour way darker. I appreciate the difficulty in getting good staff but this was time consuming and I had to leave due to time restraints and ended up buying nothing due to the long lineup to pay. In comes another associate who seeing that I am leaving tries to get me to pay by phone instead of the cash desk. Nope...not impressed. Will try to find the same product somewhere else or say that I don't need help. read more

However, Nena, the expert that did an amazing job on my brows, was free within that hour so she managed to fit in a spot for me. I got the Brow wax which was $24. Nena was very patient and gentle, she always asked me to look at the mirror to see if I liked my eyebrows or not and if there was more work to be done. Having been in the beauty biz for many years, I would say that this is the best Sephora location to shop in the city in terms of assortment and cleanliness. It's much less crowded than Pacific Centre and there are always many beauty consultants available to help. The brand assortment is great too because there are some more niche brands available here also being a flagship location. The number one factor for me is always the availability and cleanliness of the testers. Keep in mind you should always, always disinfect the tester and apply with disposable applicators, doesn't matter what you are trying on, but nothing gross me out more than testers with hair(yuck) in it and sometimes the quality of the testers all depend on how busy the locations are and therefore how much time they can spend on ensuring cleanliness. Their beauty studio has good lighting as well due to the windows which is a must for trying on complexion products. I don't usually get makeovers in stores but most of consultants do have to go through certification to perform services so the consistency is usually good. I love the layout of the store as well with lots of space to shop between gondolas. If I need to go into a Sephora store I would always prefer the Robson location over Pacific Centre because of the shopability and selection. read more

The main reason I love this specific location is that it's always adequately staffed, so you can easily find someone to help you! I stopped by here today as I was hoping to return or exchange something I bought quite awhile ago. I actually didn't know if they would take my item back, but to my surprise they did! The sales girl and her manager were super nice and understanding, and they were happy to do an exchange for me. This is the 2nd time I came to visit this location. There's one girl who was such a sweetheart, I think her name is Punya, she wanted to show me the different foundations that were more natural but at the time I was waiting for another girl to come back with a sample of something so I didn't want to just leave, so after she came back with the sample Punya offered to grab me a sample of a concealer from cover fx for me, and showed me products from tarte, and also grabbed a sample from urban decay for me. read more

Largest store in Canada! Sephora had their grand opening today, and I could not believe how big it was. Located central downtown on Robson, it is pretty much a girls dream. Sephora Robson is 8,600 sq ft, with two levels and they have extended hours. Some of the new services they offer: Benefit Brow Bar (opening soon), Bumble & Bumble first Sephora hair studio, Sephora Skincare Studio and VIB Rouge Studio. It was really busy inside, but it felt good because you can see that everything was new, all the aisle were fully stocked and there were lots of employees to help you. (Pretty much two or three in every aisle) It felt different than the other Sephora stores! You can see that the layout of the Robson store is much more spacious and it had a cleaner looked. They have extensive products from lines that you do not see that the other stores. It was pretty much beautiful, and nothing else! Everyone was so helpful, the line up was longer than expected but it was all worth it. To celebrate the opening of Sephora Robson, Beauty Insiders all got a free Vancouver inspired umbrella with a $25 purchase! This definitely made my day and I think I have fallen in love with Sephora even more. I first visited this location with a few friends and tried out the Benefit Brow Bar, which is awesome btw! (especially the Benefit Brow rep Jen!) She did all our brows (all 5 of us) and shared many tips and techniques. It was an eye(brow) opening experience! The store itself is huge and very brightly lit! So it looks really clean. But it does get really warm because of these same lights. I'm always too warm if I spend too long in here (which isn't actually bad for me, less likely to spend as much!) I have yet to visit the VIP Rouge Lounge upstairs since I don't come Downtown all that often. The beauty reps are all very attentive and have been very helpful with my questions. If they couldn't answer a specific product question, they made sure to ask someone who does have experience with that particular product to comment (instead of making up something to tell me). read more

I used to love this store. It's big and was friendly, had eager help and well stocked. No more. Over the last year I have experienced constant stock shortages and am told each time it is ordered and will be back in stock "next week". I go back again and again only to find the product is still not there and I'm told the same story by a different Sephora employee. Also, the store is mysteriously no longer stocking my favourite Tatcha serum and some Dior faves. Today I had to track down an employee and ask if I could try on an eye shadow. She asked me "do you want to do it yourself or do you want someone to do it for you"? I explained that I had to applicator to apply it. She acted like I was a complete bother. I remember her from the last time I was in, she was just as unenthusiastic then when I wanted to try a lipstick on. I told her I would like help. She said she would have to call someone over. After several minutes of waiting (the store was not busy) I finally received help. WARNING: I bought a box of Dior Capture Totale moisturizer a week ago for $195.00. Today I opened the plastic cover, then the box. The security band was missing from the top of the jar and when I opened it it was almost all used up!!!! There were fingerprints all over the shiny sliver cap. WTF?? I immediately took it to the store and asked to see a manager thinking 1. no one will believe me and 2. They have a serious problem that a mngr should be aware of. The woman who helped immediately said I didn't need a mngr, she would exchange it, no questions asked. She tried to convince it came from the factory that way and they have no control over it. That's BS, someone is stealing from them in a very crafty way. OPEN your products before you leave the store. Another reviewer discovered a used pencil of another brand in her package. I've been a mngr in retail for most of my life. This store has the feel of a store that is going to be closed soon; not spending money to stock product or staff properly, displays are messy/dirty, many sample colours/products are missing, employees that don't care anymore. my favourite location out of all the sephoras in vancouver. the robson store has the most brands available, and most of the advisors/ sales seem eager to help! also, robson seems to have the most events by brands, which i do enjoy a lot! took one star off because of a recent visit- the cashier was quite rude about the display price being wrong (she explicitly told me "you're wrong because the computer says it's $x"), before asking a supervisor (who was also rude) to come over and honour the shelf pricing BEFORE lying to me saying my beauty insider membership has already been entered when she's never entered it. that left a terrrrrrible impression in my mind, but thankfully never saw said cashier again so all is good! read more

OMG I love this place. It's the adult version of a candy store. Virtually every high-end make up brand can be found here and the staff are knowledgeable and helpful. Least favourite location, rude staff/ managers. I love Sephora and Their return policy is great, if you make a purchase and the product doesn't work out for you within 30 days you get a refund. Went to this location to return some peter Roth eye patches that was about I would say half full, the cashier took it and showed about 2 other cashiers.. then they got the manager and left and came back and said they counted and it's less than 50% left. She made up her own percentage that was left. At this time there were 4 staff members crowding around listening and just staring at me which kind of made a scene. I didn't argue once I just asked what percentage it was and said I thought it looked about half but ok I guess I will keep it. I was confused and Took to a different location and was able to get a full refund back since it hasn't even been a month since purchase without the hassle and embarrassment. I usually dont do reviews but my past experience w this location recently was extremely horrible! I bought a laurier spf moisturizer on Nov 9th and had to bring it back for an exchange because the pump was not working. I bought it back on the 10th and talked to one of the cashier about the problem. She passed the bottle to another lady behind her ( i dont remember their names). She then, went and looked for another bottle but they were all the same (pumps dont work). She came back and told me that she could use the tester's pump to switch it w a new bottle if that "WORKS "! She didn't offer me a discount or anything but instead she offered to give a pump that had been used my many people. I was very confused and frustrated by the way the store dealt w this situation.
