Great retreat venue. Comfortable meeting room for our group of approximately 80. Unfortunately there were no onsite kitchen facilities due to a previous fire but caterers are available. Beautifully kept grounds on lakeside setting. Nice walking trails. Beautiful inspiration point peninsula just outside the meeting area. I stayed in a studio cottage which was clean and comfortable, and included a fridge with freezer and microwave. There were multiple windows overlooking the lake. There are multiple options for accommodations. Very nice experience. read more

Golf cart paths are a bit worn and bumpy, but to golf a course this nice for so little $ is great. No complaints. They have great practice spots too to chip, putt, and drive. We visit this state park frequently and recently tent camped here for the weekend. We had a great time. I felt like we had something to do the entire time without leaving the state park. They have a nature center, splash pad, pool, multiple trails, recreational center, restaurant (currently not open), large outdoor playing games, lake, clean bathrooms. It's worth the trip! read more

Once you drive past the park office at the entrance to the park you drive a bit to get down to the lodge and cabins. The lake views are gorgeous and there are plenty of walking trails. If you book a cabin sleeps 4 with a kitchenette you are booking a 1 bedroom with a sofa sleeper in the living room. The kitchenette has a 2 burner stove top and a dorm size fridge. There's also a microwave, toaster and coffee maker. No kitchen ware is supplied so bring your dishes and cookware. In the cabins enjoy nature, enjoy the view, enjoy your surroundings. There is no wi-fi connection in the cabins. If you book a room in the lodge wi-fi is available there. The king room in the lodge that my brother booked had a mini fridge but no microwave. In the hallway right next to the snack vending machine sat a "community" microwave I suppose. If you need a town you're less than 20 minutes from Wagoner to gather your supplies. Sequoyah State Park is a beautiful location for family gatherings and vacations. read more

Been coming here for decades. The park and lodge are nice. All around fishing at the lake is fair at best. If you do decide to fish the southern side of the lake is your best bet. Occasionally you can do pretty well from the rocky shore line surrounding the lodge. read more

So this review isn't for the Park as a whole, but rather the riding stables. We've gotten in the habit of taking The Kid to Sequoyah every spring and fall break for a little riding. At no time have we ever had anything less than a stellar experience. The wranglers are all great. Friendly, talkative and eager to cater to the riders in any way. They even fulfill our request for The Kid to always have the same horse, which is a HUGE plus for her. We've been there so many times we know the names of most of the horses. The rides are just under an hour and are a really nice, restorative experience. read more

Went out for an outing last Saturday with my wife and kids and found ourselves at Sequoyah state park. The park drive itself is very pretty with lots of tall pines along the drive. It's nice to have a park with water nearby, but the water itself is muddy/cloudy like the majority of Oklahoma lakes. Also, they have hiking trails but: 1) they are not well marked, and 2) they could be better made nearer to water or through the woods to make them more adventurous and pretty hiking. Instead, the y just follow the existing roads. There are several better Oklahoma State Parks out there. read more

This was our first time coming to this State Park, and we definitely came at the right time before summer crowds. The entry in is impressive with towering pine trees We camped at Paradise Cove Tent camping near a marina. The entry to the tent camping was the first right past the main office. They told us where to go, but there was no signage. Great view of the lake and we pretty much had the area to ourselves! Modern bathrooms/shower facility was nearby which was a plus. The negatives, if any, is the fact that the fire rings are hit and miss. Some had a pile of rubble (some rock) while others had a grate for cooking meat. Can they not afford to put in fire rings all campsites? Also, I wish there was a trail head from this area. We brought our dog, and it would have been nice to connect to the trail system I know is in the Park. Other than that, we had an enjoyable time! read more

My husband and I stayed at a cabin for our 21st anniversary. I wish I would have read some of the other reviews because we would have definitely did more such as horseback riding and nature center. Not sure if we could have anyway. We took our dog. Beautiful view, short walk to the dock. There are wonderful hiking trails! There are more than one so you can enjoy several if you stay more than one day or you decide to conquer them all. At the cabins they really leave you alone. The staff does not check if you need anything. This is a good thing, if you do need housekeeping or more coffee all you have to do is ask! Friendly staff when you need anything. They don't make you feel like your putting them out. Hubby and I had quality time together and that is what matters. My advice to you is bring your own pillows though. The pillows in the cabin are very hard. Unless you like hard pillows. Lol! read more

It was a beautiful day for a walk, so we drove to Hulbert, OK, and went to Sequoyah State Park. We walked up and down some hills, across the golf course, along the lake, and up to the nature center. It was not an easy walk, but it was so much fun! Oreo enjoyed it as well. Sequoyah is a fun state park - the trails there are all paved and go for about 12 miles. There are cabins, boats, playgrounds, campgrounds, and even horse back riding. There is a nature center with indoor displays as well as live animals. This is on my to do list for next spring. I'm going to rent a cabin next time I go. I'm wondering if they have pontoon rentals. Wouldn't it be fun to take Oreo out on a pontoon again! read more

This is, no doubt, the best state park I have ever camped at. The lake is over flood stage, which is just about the only bad thing I can say about the park. They have a hotel/lodge, swimming pool, golf course, disc golf, stables offering trail rides, a nature center with a naturalist who showed us around and let us pepper her with questions. The nature center is home to a few rescued wild animals that cannot be released, including a bald eagle, barred owl, red and gray fox, red fox and coyote, along with several snakes and turtles. The campgrounds are in awesome shape, with level concrete pads and concrete picnic tables. Our loop has full hook ups, although most do not. The park has a full service marina with pontoon boats, aqua trikes and peddle boats for rent, along with a ship store. I am extremely impressed with this park. As much as I love our Texas State Parks, none that I have camped at can hold a candle to this place. read more

This is a great state park, especially for people who have children. There is a lot to do here. If you want to camp, there are both tent sites and full hook-up RV sites. The RV sites in both the Seminole and Choctaw area are very nice, from personal camping experience. At each of these sites there is a playground for kids and a many of the sites have grassy areas to run around. The hiking trails around the park are very beginner friendly. The most difficult is the fossil trail near the nature center, it gets a little rocky. There is even a paved multi-purpose trail that runs the length of the park. The nature center is small but has several animals to observe: beaver, otter, coyote, owl, bald eagle, fox, snakes. There are stables with reasonable prices for horseback rides through the woods. The lodge has a nice restaurant owned by Swadley's. In the warmer months there are boating activities to enjoy. There is a golf course for those that like to golf. If camping is not your jam, there are a few cabins and the lodge available. We enjoy coming to this park to camp. read more

I was recently here for Big Om Yoga Retreat and really enjoyed this State Park. It's definitely one of the most well kept ones I've been to. The group camping area has a dozen cabins, a communal bathroom and areas close to the lake for camping. We camped right near the lake our first night, but then moved to a cabin the second night to avoid packing up our campsite in the rain that was about to come through the area. I love the pine trees all around. The smell really encapsulates you. I just have two complaints. The beds in the cabins are extremely squeaky. Literally every movement you make is loud af. That was bothersome, because I'm a light sleeper who moves around a lot. Next is the sinks sucks. More specifically the faucets suck. I get the need for water conservation and what not, but you have to constantly hold the faucet for the water to come out because it doesn't stay on by itself. I found the bathroom sink in the main big building to be much better, because it had a push faucet. Yes, you still had to push it a couple times to get through your business (especially if washing your face), but it far exceeded the ones in the communal bathroom. I couldn't maneuver that one to even fill my cupped hands with water since one was busy holding the sink handle the whole time. Minor details, but worth mentioning. Overall a great State Park to visit! read more

Me, my husband, and our two kids recently stayed here. There is horseback riding, a playground, picnic areas, the lake, horseshoes, basketball and tennis courts, and camping areas. There is also a splash pad and pool, but these were closed when we were here. There are many banquet / party rooms available as well. The man at the horse stable was very kind, especially since we have two young children. It is very nice. Especially if you enjoy outdoor activities. I took off stars because there are only about 5 TV channels available at the lodge, a king size bed only has 3 pillows (there are 2 pillows that are decorative pillows.... why? This isnt 1990.) I didnt count off a star for the shower being very confusing, because there is a great showerhead, making up for the confusing faucet. read more

We're staying in the Seminole part of this BEAUTIFUL State Park. It's where you want to camp if you've got an RV and you want all the necessary connections in the most recently upgraded part of this park. I suggest that you visit directly with the "camp host" of this particular camping area after you check in at the front of the park. The host can work with you on what is reserved specifically, and for which days. When we arrived there was a yellow reserved sign on every space! The spaces in Seminole have everything you need. This is a GREAT place to stay easily for at least a few nights! read more

We just came for hiking, which wound up being on paved trails that made it less of a hike and more of a nature walk. We opted to walk on the bike trail which was longer and very beautiful especially in midsummer. Even on an extremely humid and hot day, it was more than comfortable due to the abundant foliage for shade (including a surprising number of pines). Though paved, the trails had quite a few hills making for a good bit of exercise. We saw small lizards, dozens and dozens of butterflies and moths, and a beautiful young deer. This park is much larger and prettier, with more amenities, than anything we anticipated from a cursory online search for trails. We will be back when we're able to spend even more time exploring. read more

This is such a beautiful campground. Nice paved and grassy sites, very quiet and so many deer. We really enjoyed sitting outside every night watching the sunset and the deer grazing right behind the camper. The staff there was friendly and the price per night was reasonable. Two reviews: We stayed in the mid-century modern cabins (which have been updated, along with the lodge in the last few years). Our favorite was a duplex that faces the lake. We moved to a different (quad) cabin that we did not like as well. A huge bonus, and God bless Oklahoma and other states that have pet-friendly lodging, as we always travel with our Boxer. The one negative is the lodge restaurant. The food was OK, nothing special, but the wait is ridiculous. It is severely understaffed and we had to wait A LONG TIME for every meal we ate, even though the restaurant was not busy. read more

One of the best kept secrets of North East Oklahoma. Just an awesome, not so little park on Ft Gibson lake. Great golf, frisbee golf, lodge, pool, camping, fishing, horseback riding, nature lodge. Sequoyah State Park is a vintage facility on the shores of Ft. Gibson Lake. We took advantage of a cool and rainy Oklahoma forecast, for a one-nighter in one of the nearly 60 year old cabins. Phone reservations were made just one day ahead of our trip and were a breeze. We reserved a dog-friendly cabin, which turned out to be part of a four-plex of adjoining accomodations. In spite of being almost as old as myself, our cabin was big enough for two people and our little dog and was clean, tidy and functional. It had a big microwave, a two-burner glasstop stove, refrigerator and just enough pots, pans and dishes. The floors were tiled throughout. The double bed was comfortable. A 32-inch flatscreen TV had about a dozen channels. The air conditioner worked fine and a ceiling fan worked just fine. We opted for brats on the charcoal grill just outside. The park was pretty quiet during our midweek stay. We were the only occupants in our four-plex. At night, it was very quiet and calm. We went through the breakfast buffet the next morning in the main lodge. Not a huge selection, but good scrambled eggs, bacon, hash browns, biscuits and gravy. The buffet also included cold breakfast items, some fruit and pastries. In summary, the cabins are just fine. There's no wifi, but that was okay with me. Wifi is available in the main lodge. The park has a variety of activities, including boat rentals, horse riding, a wildlife center and very nice golf course We will go back again. Checkout was $95, including room, taxes and the ten dollar dog fee. read more

The lodge was nice. What you would expect for the price. We ate there and the food was ok. Nothing special. Our order was wrong but we didn't say anything. Waitress was not very good at her job. The breakfast the next morning was bad enough to complain about. Unfortunately OK State law says that you can not carry a firearm into any State building. The park yes but none of the buildings in the park. How am I supposed to stay overnight in a hotel without being armed?! We had a nice time though and the park and lodge are nice just stay away from the dinner. The second night we went into Wagoner and eat at Asian Star which was really good! It's the orange building close to Wal-Mart. Not the buffet. read more

We have been going to this place for four summers and will not return. Each year it has gone downhill more. We stay in the cabins on the lake, for the cost it is no longer worth the price. They were dirty when we arrived, screens are missing from windows so ants are crawling in, you can see the outside around the air conditioning units in many of the rooms, there are missing tiles and missing lightbulbs in many of the cabins. The front desk day manager called screaming after we left that we would pay for damages because the kids put sidewalk chalk on the buildings. She said it took her crew 10 minutes to remove it and a nominal fee was already charged to our card, she did not give the amount. We find it surprising that she was so rude about sidewalk chalk that removed in only 10 minutes. We do love the pool, the golf course and horseback riding. There are golf carts to rent for $50 a day that are neat. But we will look for a new place for our annual trip. read more
