Some of the negative reviews really surprise me. We've lived in Austin a couple years and have eaten at many Mexican places--and most have been very good. But 2 weeks ago we stopped in here and i had tacos al pastor and my wife had a chicken dish....mine was spectacular! Also had a Mexican martini--best ever...served in a stainless steel shaker with a small glass and olives...perfectly blended. Can't wait to go back here...oh and the chips and salsa were good too..salsa had some kick..but that'd what it's all about! read more

This was my first time to this location. The staff was very friendly, restaraunt itself was clean and very tex-mex like. I absolutely loved the fact that each day of the week they have different specials, Mondays for instance was $3 margaritas. I had a small mishap with my food whilst eating, not only did our server David go above and beyond for us but the manager did as well. With out even asking they remade my food for me. David was extremely upbeat, energetic and all around pleasent to be around. We will definately be back, & with him as our server. read more

Horrible. Stopped in last Tuesday night before the Stars game for a quick bite, which turned into a total disaster. My meal came out quite good (reason for two stars), my wife's not so good. She ordered what she thought was the Grande Taco Plate, but there is also a Los grande plate with almost the same name. The taco she got was ok, we thought it was weird it came out one at a time, that was cured when the "enchilada plate came out"... enchilada is a loose term as corn tortillas filled with ground beef minus any gravy or sauce look quite pathetic. We then point out the error, and thought everything was ok as they brought her some sour cream and guacamole to make that dry mess edible. We ask for the ticket, and my jaw drops at the $3 and $1 charged for condiments to correct the screw up and make it edible. With little to no time left to get down the road for the game, I just pay check and for the first time in 25 years leave no tip. Change the name of the plates! read more

Just visited Serrano's for the first time and I was not disappointed. I've been to a lot of different restaurants in Cedar Park and have never had better service than tonight. My server was phenomenal. She was very attentive and kept checking in to see if we needed anything. We never ran out of drinks and never had to ask another person for something she was on top of it. She was kind and had a great attitude even when other tables were being a bit rude to her. Her name was Liz. Every establishment needs a Liz. She made recommendations on food and drinks and they were fantastic. Food was great. Drinks were great. Service was outstanding. read more

We hosted our son's first year birthday party at Serranos. We had 120 guests on a Sunday evening. The food was really great. What surprised us the most was that the managers and the servers took almost everything upon themselves and treated it like their own party - all the way from getting the table placements exactly right, the decorations, the balloons, packing up after the party, engaging the guests etc. etc. right to the last level of detail. They left us almost nothing to do and we could spend all our time with our guests. Special shout out go to: Taylor, Vicente, Jayme, Nathan, Toby and Nico. Soooo, after the National Taco Championship and hearing that Serrano's placed as the "Reserve Grand Champion" I decided to check these tacos out. I opted for the tacos locos since Serrano's took 1st in the chicken taco category. 1) the waitress didn't even know that Serrano's was recently recognized (I mean, really!?!?) and 2) the tacos were unremarkable. I was also disappointed in the elote. It was pretty much corn off the cob with too much onion and a sprinkle of cotija cheese. C'mon Serrano's you can do better!! The atmosphere was super nice. Needless to say, I don't see myself returning to Serrano's anytime soon. read more

We hosted our company Christmas party at this Serranos. We worked with Tyler the GM to get the details worked out and he did a great job setting up the room to our needs! Our servers we wonderful and very attentive to our guests needs. Food was hot, yummy, and more than enough to feed the group. First of all, we were with our one year old in 40 degree weather and got a table near the big windows (basically a covered patio) and was freezing to death when there were plenty of seating inside. I wanted a taco plate with 2 different tacos but they said they can't replace any tacos so I had order things a la cart. Also, they charge extra for everything. $1.50 for a small side of chipotle sauce! When the food came out I was even more disappointed. My tacos looked like they were half eaten. They were plated so terribly. The chicken taco looked wet and gross and the avocado taco looked really sad and nothing like the picture. My husband got a enchilada taco plate and said they tasted terrible also. The taco meat was dry and had weird texture. The waitress was inexperienced and every time we asked a question she had to go ask the manager. We will be avoiding this place from now on! read more

We noticed this new Serranos under construction for awhile, so when we saw it was open we decide to pull in and give it a try. We so wanted to give this new site a chance that we forgave it for its challenging parking lot (some ongoing construction nearby). We forgave it for its 'meh' service despite the light crowd (apparently they just opened Thursday and may not have found their rhythm yet). The food was fine--nothing special overall--though the chips were absolutely soaked in oil. And yet we forgave them for that too. The check is what finally shook us to our senses. It wasn't outrageous, it just seemed a bit steep for the whole experience. We'll keep driving next time. read more

My family loves Serrano, there breakfast is very reasonable. Lunch & dinner menu has so much to pick from . They are known for their Mesquite grilled food. Entered and was blandly greeted by a young girl chatting with a guy. Sat in the bar area. The menu was confusing, pricing being the only simple part. We were immediately presented with chips and salsa. The salsa is spicy, but good. Not sure if it's homemade though. Looked like jarred salsa with some onions added. Drinks were quick and filled regularly. Ordered fish tacos, and my friend ordered Flaquitos. The fish tacos were cold. It was blackened fish fillets thrown in a tortilla with some chopped tomatoes and onions. No seasoning. Squeezed some lime on them which helped. Then I noticed a small amount of drizzled sauce on the other taco. It tasted better, but would be a good idea to provide a small amount of the sauce uniformly, or in a cup on the side. The rice and beams were luke warm at best. It wasn't busy either so a bit disappointing. My friend's plate came out scorching hot, but didn't look that appetizing. All the same color. He liked his, and I liked mine also, but mostly because I was very hungry. The restaurant has a confusing culture and cold feel, like the harmony is missing. I won't be returning. The prices were a bit expensive for the food quality. Maybe the fajitas are the secret because they looked and sounded good. This is the second time visiting, with the first being an over spiced assortment of enchiladas. The shift manager I presume waited on us, but he was not friendly, and quite unattractive in dress and personality. He seemed put off because my wife asked what the difference between the sauces were. He replied, "It's TexMex... with a scoff. Maybe he should stay in back of the house. We asked Serranos if they served gluten free and we were given a gluten free menu. We were very pleased and excited. When we sat down to order from our gluten free menu our waitress told us that the dishes were not certified gluten free. The meat was grilled with other wheat products and and the chips were fried with wheat products. Gluten free for the restaurant meant they would substitute with corn products instead of wheat tortillas. You got to be kidding. We are gluten free for health reasons not because we are trying to be trendy. My son has Celiac Sprue. He gets migraines and will vomit all over the table!!!! read more

Customer service was above and beyond!!! We arrived at closing. Google reported the restaurant closing at 10pm instead of 9pm. They were gracious enough to seat us anyway with a limited menu. Always good! Been enjoying Serrano's food since their beginning. This location in Cedar Park is by far my favorite. Good location snd staff are always very helpful and accommodating. Favorite dishes are Pollo Perfectos, Pollo Serrano's, and fajitas are consistently very flavorful and more than enough. Bar specials are always good. Will continue to eat with them. No wait on this Friday evening!!! Outside was packed but plenty of tables inside. Frozen margaritas were excellent!!! Nachos were good. Beef fajitas were very good...large helpings and lots of flavor! All ingredients for the fajitas were fresh. The only minor issue was they set us next to the kitchen...loud and a lot of traffic. I have never had a bad experience at Serranos. This location has a great outdoor patio to dine on when the weather is nice. Service is always extremely friendly and helpful. Food is fast and flavorful. I love getting extra Serranos grilled to go with my meal. My only complaint would be the parking at this location. While the server, Patrick is doing an adequate job, we were greeted by a totally inhospitable host. The girl, with glasses, was yawning as though her job is boring her to years, and the attitude she showed towards my wife, my daughter and I was disgusting. We were an annoyance, and when we asked to sit at a booth instead of the table she was 'dumping' us at, the scornful look of hatred was enough to make even me, a restaurant manager of over 30 years comment about how horrible she is. The food was good, not the best but good enough . I had the chicken fajitas, my husband had the brisket enchiladas. Happy hour prices on drinks were good. Two things that could be easily improved 1) the bright lights and 2) music. The bright lights in the bar made it seem more like a cafeteria, not very comfortable for dinner, so we left right away.
