There is one member of the original Robillard family still working with these locksmiths, she sold relatively recently to a new boss who is keeping the business alive. Personally, I just went in the get a spare key cut, but as I was looking around at the bright clean displays of different kinds of sturdy locks and safes and beautiful door nobs I noticed the display cases in the back - if you are into vintage keys and locks and tools this is really worth checking out. They even have a tool originally used for making copies of keys by hand. The service was super super friendly and kind and you could tell they enjoyed chatting about the business and it's history. The keys actually didn't work when I got them home, even though looking at them they looked identical to me, I brought them back and they took a look, quickly identified the tiny difference explaining to me that microns of difference could prevent a copy from working in a good lock. Everything worked great when I got it home and all in all I really enjoyed this whole transaction. If I needed security or locks installed I'd definitely start by consulting with the friendly bilingual staff at Robilliard.

After getting screwed by my…read moreneighborhood locksmith (borrowed an item and refused to return it or pay for it) and understandably fearing my keys might have been compromised (he once cut me a pair of replacement keys and could've secretly kept a spare), I resolved to change my locks. A colleague suggested I go for the Medeco brand, which while much more expensive is also much more secure. After I called in, the owner came to see me and he gave me a free estimate. After shopping around some more, I found that he had the best deal and gave him the okay. While I wanted to change both the inner and outer locks, he rightfully pointed out that changing only the outer lock was unnecessary in my case. I could still keep my inner lock without risk. A true professional, he doesn't sell people stuff they don't need. Definitely going to recommend him.
