However, when the technician arrived, he dropped a surprise: the chairs weren't included in the quoted price and would cost more. I was perplexed because the work order did list the chairs, but they weren't charged. After raising my concern with Stanley Steemer, I learned that the price for a fully upholstered chair is $15 each, so I assumed the seat cushions would be around $7.50 each. That adds up to $60 for all eight chairs--while it's not a huge amount, it's the principle of the matter. When I contract for a job, I expect the work and pricing to align, just as they expect me to pay. In an attempt to make amends, they offered a $20 discount on my bill, which felt rather silly I didn't need their money. I needed their service and I wasn't about to pay more for the chairs.
