While on vacation I had a chance to visit this store. What a wonderful experience! Ann greeted my mother, daughter and I and even gave us a few mini how to classes while we wondered around the store. She was very friendly and knowledgeable. The last thing I need is more fabric but you bet I bought some while in this shop and I plan to return every year when we come back to vacation. Fingers crossed that we can visit for a scheduled class session. read more

My friend bought a new Bernina here for her quilting hobby. She had to pay for a class and learned that the machine she selected, with the help of a salesperson, would not work without an expensive attachment that must be installed by the technician, at a cost of about $250. She didn't get what she wanted and is out of pocket by a lot of money! No way to earn customer loyalty! read more

This store has some really nice fabrics and really nice employees. However, I found the markup on several of their products was exorbitant! There was a pattern that I really liked that was over $27.00. I was appalled and went to the website of the person that created the pattern. Only $15.00 on her website. I bought a purple marking pen. I didn't even look at the price until I got home. I paid 7.89. I googled it and everyone else has it for under $6.00. I won't be going back to this store. read more

This store has some beautiful stuff! I was impressed with the number of various selections. They have sewing machines that do things I didn't know existed. The staff was hospitable and helpful, I will go back and I'm glad they're here. read more

Dear owners of Mountain Threads - I came from Greensboro to…read morevisit your shop. I had the directions and list of materials for a project and wanted to purchase high-quality rope cording. So I approached a very glittery young woman with her bosom about to fall out of her red dress by saying, "I have a project materials list that calls for 100 feet of clothesline cord." She directed me to purchase this at a WalMart. Wow. Isn't selling various sizes of cord what your business is all about? She also told me that clothesline type cording cost $1/foot so I would pay $100 for cording if I purchased it at Mountain Threads. No - it costs $1 per yard. The owner/artisan seated behind a sewing machine in the back room was being monopolized by one female (customer? just curious?) and no one could break into that Q&A/tutorial without being rude. So, basically, there was no one in-the-know available. The store is cute. The staff is friendly (maybe too friendly with people who will monopolize you). The location on Main St is easy to find but beware that parking in Blowing Rock can be very difficult in the "high seasons". The selection of fabrics, machine needles, and cording is strong. You just have to get past the not so well informed staff member in the front room.
