Within hours, on a Sunday in the middle of the Holiday season, Mr. Hardaway himself responded to me by phone. During our initial conversation I was extremely anxious and stressed out about my pending charges because I have an extensive past record. Mr. Hardaway did an amazing job of calming me with his patience, understanding, and demeanor- he gave me the impression that my case was not too big to handle and I left that initial conversation calmed and confident that I made the right call. All I will say from there is that there were no broken promises, no false hopes, no shattered dreams. He talks a smooth game and requires paid in full to take you to trial, but he won't show up prepared . 14k to hold your hand and bend over to anything thrown at him. He'll say he's expensive because he good, but that is not what my experience proved to be true. Two yrs this lawyer had to create a defense . The discovery was in his lap. During trial he took long pauses and scrambled through his notes as the jury's eyes glazed over. Arguing points that were useless because he had no strategy . There was no cross examination, he said the jury didn't want to see that . The excuses and dismissal never stopped. There was no preparation or coaching before I hit the stand. I was allowed to be badgered because he hadn't used the discovery to object. When we tried to work with him and point out reasonable doubt he should be using that was obtained in discovery, he really showed his thin skin. He said he was the professional and we were throwing him off of his game. There was a process. He didn't know of my paralegal degree and that I saw through is incompetence. He was extremely disrespectful to my mother. He brought up other cases and how the families always get upset with him. Now we know why, this is a pattern. You are up against a shark of a DA that will come with strategy , confidence and preparation. He was impressive to watch in action I'll give the DA that. They will eat this lawyer for lunch. It was very obvious to everyone in that court room that this lawyer has zero game. Again instead of any accountability he will flip sides. He chose a part of discovery that fed the prosecution instead of listening and putting in the discovery that disapproved the witnesses testimony . His attempt of showing me he held the power and how insecure he really is . I saw ego not a defense for his client. He relied solely on the spirit of the law and the jury's empathy. As now I can never use my paralegal degree I know, you play the letter of the law against the letter. You have to give the jury a way out to still hold loyalty to the letter of the law, that we all collectively agree is just. The trail could have led into the next day yet he still double booked his time. So I had to wait another 45 days for the sentencing. He buckled down in sentencing for me not share my truth. Telling me I could upset the judge when really he was scared again he would be humiliated by his lack of preparation. When going from the beginning saying all the right things he now had a different tone. Instead of apologizing or taking any accountability he called me angry and tried to fully put the blame on me. Calling me angry for just stating his inability for humility. If you're going to go to trial, you better make sure you win or you will be punished harsher than the plea deal. This lawyer is a guaranteed fail. He does not have the resources or time to give his clients. He will tell you he knows the judge as if he is good with him but I saw frustration from the judge. My story was never fully told because of this lawyers incompetence. You can fight with an appeal but after a five yr old case and 14k with this lawyer who has the finances or mental strength to keep fighting. You take your punishment and you keep going in a positive manner. This lawyer is a backwoods paper pusher with a smooth tongue.

Which all I knew they were there for support reasons only, like help finding doctors, etc. All the sudden surprise its foster care. What does this have to do with the Erwin law firm. Well the provider announced we weren't allowed to restrain her when she tries to hurt herself or others. That I was supposed to call 911, and they were to take her to the ER, have a psyche evaluation and possibly hospitalization at a psyche hospital. Nope, the police started arresting her left and right. And yes I do have documents that says I'm required to call 911. Well Mr. Erwin seemed like an amazing solution , at least I thought so. Not only did he not want to see the documents I had in her behavior report from the provider. He took my daughter's case manager, which was totally clueless because she was new to the judge to speak with him. She even told us she felt out of place and that she felt it was wrong he took her and not me. Especially because I could explain everything. Well the provider of course put my daughter in a group home and now I can't see my baby girl. Which btw she did the same thing at home there and she was put in the hospital for her meds. I even have text messages proving I had tried contacting her nurse to see the psychiatrist because her meds not working good. Now she has left the company. Dis he bother to speak with her or see my documents. Nope. Just blew me off. Until he finally emailed me and told me the judge ordered her not to speak with me or contact me in any way possible. Mt daughter had the mentality of a four year old and she isnt going to understand why mommy and Santa didnt bring her gifts. So my opinion, if he is go6to fight hard for his clients he should fight for all of them. I even spoke to him about speaking to the judge numerous times and nothing. So if you have a case he might fight for you as long as you are not a mentally disabled adult. Shame on you Mr Erwin. I put my trust in you, if I know this what I know how I would have let you not even near my daughter and hired someone who would have fought for my daughter. Even if you're court appointed to us, I was praying every day you would help her out. And the provider knew I was leaving them and they got exactly what they wanted, more money. I guess if we had money to pay you , maybe you would have cared more about fighting for my daughter. I was on the road to getting her real help and you allowed the system to tear a family apart.
